The Encyclopedia of New York State has acquisition dates for many NY State Parks. It's funny how the Wikipedia page for NYS Parks has more history about NYS Parks than the NYS Parks website. Queens Historian (talk) 09:15, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Queens Historian, Thanks for your note and contributions to the List of New York state parks article. Indeed, it is coming along nicely! Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 19:07, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, DASonnenfeld. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Updating Onondaga Lake

Hi DASonnenfeld, I saw you're one of the few contributors to Onondaga Lake who is both active and proficient, and I'm reaching out for some of your expertise. I believe you originally tagged the Legal action & cleanup efforts section for cleanup, and I've been working on updating the chemical pollution aspects. I left a message over at the talk page, but there's not a whole lot of activity there. I have a sandbox here, and a link to the diff with all the actual changes. Could you take a look at my proposed changes?--FacultiesIntact (talk) 21:27, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi FacultiesIntact, Thanks for your note. I'm not an expert on the topic, but have made minor suggestions on the sandbox page for clarification and Wikification. Hope they are helpful. Sincerely, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 22:32, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
I think those are all excellent additions. Would you be comfortable implementing them on the article? Another editor I reached out to voiced their support. I'd like to avoid doing it myself due to my COI.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 03:00, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
Hi FacultiesIntact, As noted, I'm not an expert on the topic. I'll leave implementing the edits for you -- more transparent that way. I would suggest making the changes and adding to your note on the Talk page for the article, inviting further comments, corrections, edits... DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 09:51, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your input. If you don't mind, I'll link to this conversation on the talk page for the article for better visibility.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 17:37, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
Hi FacultiesIntact, Thanks for your further note. I appreciate your communication, as well as your efforts to provide updated information on the above-referenced article. At the same time, I want to make clear that the minor copyedits suggested on your sandbox page are simply that, and are neither an endorsement nor validation of the factual basis of any changes that you may have made to the content of those sections. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 19:42, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
My apologies for misconstruing your comments. I'd hate to put words in your mouth like that. It's my mistake for misinterpreting your lack of other suggestions as an endorsement of the rest of the content.--FacultiesIntact (talk) 20:11, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks FacultiesIntact, no apologies needed. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 01:13, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
I just wanted to thank you, very much, for creating Template:Science and technology studies and being its primary maintainer for five years (!). It's a very useful template, and I'm really glad it exists. Thank you for all your hard work! - - mathmitch7 (talk/contribs) 18:20, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
Thank you, Mathmitch7! Also for your efforts and contributions to Wikipedia in the area of Science and Technology Studies. Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 13:13, 9 May 2018 (UTC)

Help updating Environment America page?

My name is Elizabeth and I work for Frontier Group, which is part of the Public Interest Network. I have been asked by my employer to update the Wikipedia article about Environment America, which is part of the same network. The article has points that are inaccurate but could fairly easily be improved. Because I have a COI with editing this article, I was hoping you might assist me. I am reaching out to you because of your interest in environmental policies. I can share the updated content with you for your review; I want to make sure it meets the high standards of Wikipedia writing. If you are willing to help me, where should I post the changes I would like to have made to the article? CleanWater17 (talk) 17:40, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi CleanWater17, Thanks for your note. The appropriate way for drafting proposed edits to an article in a context such as you describe would be to create a sandbox page with the proposed changes. I'd be glad to take a look once you've done that. You might also post notices on the talk page of the article itself, as well as of the WikiProjects whose templates are on the article's talk page. Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 09:14, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for your quick response. I will post proposed changes in my sandbox by the middle of next week and leave another message here when the changes are ready for your feedback. CleanWater17 (talk) 21:17, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
Hello- I have posted proposed edits to the first two paragraphs of the Environment America page to my sandbox. Here's the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:CleanWater17/sandbox. I've boldfaced anything I added. I also deleted some misinformation, which I'm happy to explain to you. Tell me what else I can do to make this easier for you. I also would like to make some small updates to the infobox, but I'll propose that after we deal with the first two paragraphs. Thanks in advance for your help. CleanWater17 (talk) 17:58, 23 May 2018 (UTC)
Great start, thanks CleanWater17. I don't see anything objectionable here. It's a little hard to understand the totality of what you propose to do, though. As the article is not too big, I'd recommend working with it as a whole in your sandbox: add in the other pieces and integrate your proposed changes/ updates into that. Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 19:41, 23 May 2018 (UTC)
Thank you! I appreciate your guidance. I do have updates for other sections of the article, and I will get busy and get them all assembled in my sandbox. I'll post back here when they're ready. CleanWater17 (talk) 03:41, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
Hello- I've posted in my sandbox proposed updates that will make the Environment America article more accurate and complete. I am not proposing any changes to the final section of the page ("State Work"). Please take a look and let me know if these changes are ok. If they are, I'd like to post the edits myself to gain further editing practice. Thank you for your help. CleanWater17 (talk) 18:49, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
Hi CleanWater17, These changes seem fine to me -- they add clarity and updated information to the article, and are well referenced. Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 10:56, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
Hi DASonnenfeld, Thanks again for your help on this page. I've posted the changes on the Environment America page. Next I intend to update the PIRG page, probably sometime in the next month. CleanWater17 (talk) 18:33, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
Hi CleanWater17, Thanks for letting me know; I'll take a look. As part of this, I would encourage you to also post an update and disclosure note on that article's talk page, inviting other editors to review and confirm the changes. There is also a 'paid contributor' notice which should be posted. For an example, see the Onondaga Lake talk page. Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 21:30, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
P.S. One thing I note is many error messages in the References section. By Wikipedia style (see WP:MOS), footnotes should not include external links. Follow the 'help' link on the error messages for further information & correct... Thank you, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 09:53, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for June 21

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Marshall (name), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bob Marshall (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
