David, this article is not in a very good state. I just did some cleanup, addressing some obvious issues, but it really needs much more work by someone who knows what he's talking about. I understand and respect that you may not want to do this, but I don't have the book and have neither the inclination nor the time to read it... I see two possible solutions to this, both involving yourself. One is that you propose improvements (ideally with chunks of text) on the article's talk page, which I could then work into the main article. The other is that you would work directly on the article yourself, with me every now and then making small edits to check and confirm for everybody to see that there is no POV pushing or personal promotion going on. You've been around here long enough to know WP's neutrality policies, so I don't expect that I would need to make a lot of changes, but this would make it clear for others that nothing untoward is going on. Let me know what you think. --Guillaume2303 (talk) 12:32, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Guillaume. Thanks for your comment, contributions & suggestions. I agree, the article needs much work. You're right, I hesitate to contribute substantively to it myself. But let me take a closer look at it and see where some initial improvements might be made; I like your suggestion of using the article's talk page to make additional suggestions. Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 14:09, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 22

Hi. When you recently edited List of forestry universities and colleges, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mettupalayam (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Waste-related journals

Hi, I'm a bit confused by this new cat. To start, it's a subcat of "Environmental science journals", but you have added both to several articles (if "waste" is in "environmental science" then the latter does not need to be added). But I also fail to see why it is added to some journals, such as Food and Bioprocess Technology. Do you want to add it to any journal that covers a subject that could conceivably result in waste? Then why not add all surgery journals... :-) I could see a cat "waste management journals" or something similar, but I find "waste related journals" rather confusing. Perhaps you can add some text to the cat to clarify its use, or possibly rename it to a more intuitive name. Thanks. --Guillaume2303 (talk) 17:03, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Guillame. Thanks for your comments. I hadn't noticed that you added the cat "Environmental science journals" to Category:Waste-related journals. Have removed the duplicate categories from the journals. This new category grows out of the new Template:Waste, which includes both waste and waste-management related topics. "Waste management journals" would cover only a part of this. Further suggestions welcome! Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 19:22, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Sjeez, how silly: I forgot I added that cat myself... Sorry about that. As for the title, in my eyes "waste treatment", "recycling", etc. is part of "waste management" (which indeed in our WP article is defined as "collection, transport, processing or disposal, managing and monitoring of waste materials"). I find the "-related" part very unclear. The same goes for "globalization-related", by the way. It makes things very subjective and (therefore) makes categorizing articles more difficult. --Guillaume2303 (talk) 10:05, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your further thoughts, Guillame. I've been reflecting on your suggestions. If length were not a concern, a fully accurate name for what I have in mind might be 'Waste management and processing related journals'. I am coming around to your view, though, that the best category name may be 'Waste management journals'. What you point out that is included under 'waste management' in the article on that topic is helpful. BTW, I checked out Google Scholar for 'waste management journals' and came up with a different list of top journals in that field (now listed in Waste management). All of the journals currently included in cat 'Waste-related journals' explicitly include waste management or waste processing in their mission statement... More broadly, for me when there is a recognized field of study, the name is clear, such as 'sociology journals' or 'psychology journals'. 'Waste' is not a field of study. 'Globalization' is a long-term historical process which has received a lot of attention, but is not a field of study. 'Global studies' may be the closest, but I'm not sure that 'Global studies journals' is the best fit, either... (Further suggestions there?) When I get a chance, I'll post a comment on the talk page for cat 'Waste-related journals' & perhaps also in WP Environment. If there are no objections, when I get a chance, I'll change the cat over to 'Waste management journals'. DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 12:27, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
I indeed think that "waste management journals" is the best solution, as "waste" is indeed not a discipline... "Global studies" would sound a lot like area studies, but being global, that would be a bit silly. I don't have a better suggestion at the moment, either. Perhaps we should not have this cat at all, but instead make a list. Such a list could be categorized under "sociology journals" and other appropriate cats. More importantly, its lead could give a description of what should be included in the list that can be as long as necessary. In contrast to categories, people have to read such a lead when they want to include an item on it, which many people never do with cats (just check how often someone adds the category "academic journals" to an article -and subsequently gets upset when I remove that)... I'll think about this some more and will let you know if I get a better idea. --Guillaume2303 (talk) 12:51, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Marshall poem

Hey DASonnenfeld, good to see you're still around! I love the poem you added to Marshall's article, it's such a great addition. I didn't think it warranted its own subsection -- it was kind of sticking out by itself with no need for further context -- so I moved it to a floating quote box. Now I fear the article looks a little jumbled with box and images, but I can't be sure. Let me know what you think? María (yllosubmarine) 12:36, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi María! Yes, still kickin'. Glad you liked the poem; I do, too. Succinctly brings out another side of Marshall, I think. I appreciate your helpful structural edits. I modified the box slightly (a little wider, to accommodate the longest line; a blank space before the credit), but in general like what you've done with it. Thanks! Thanks! Much better.  :) María (yllosubmarine)

Apologies for not getting back on this sooner. I don't think I'll be able to help. I've been ill and am very far behind on everything right now. Thank you for thinking of me. Regards - Meclee (talk) 19:38, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

The Knickerbocker

Hello Professor,

I posted some historical research I did on the magazine on my talk page. I wasn't sure if that's the way for you to review it before I post it, so let me know if I did anything wrong. I am still working on the environmental movement aspect, but it's not ready for posting yet. It will be soon though, I will let you know when it is.

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of List of agricultural universities in India, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://biodreamz.blogspot.com/2011/07/list-of-agricultural-universities-in.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Political ecology

I answer to both of you, many thanks. First, there is no conflict of interest, we are students and I took the name because I felt it was funny regardind Gervereau's theories. THe book "Philosophie de la relativité" is in fact published on www.gervereau.com (as you may see it) and available on it since 2010 (with lulu.com), it is officially registered in the Bibliothèque nationale de France.

Generally, we feel quite strange that wikipedia in English ignores important aspects of non English speaking other countries. So that is why we begin to try to improve it.

Well, for the example of Laurent Gervereau, I heard what you said all of you. So, I will write some short words only for 4 subjects (we could take for him literature, Art, politics, cinema, photography...) with references : political ecology, history of art, image, philosophy

Then, please help me Francophonie & Androphilie to put it in a better English

Many thanks
