Administrators' newsletter – October 2019

[edit]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2019).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a discussion, a new criterion for speedy category renaming was added: C2F: One eponymous article, which applies if the category contains only an eponymous article or media file, provided that the category has not otherwise been emptied shortly before the nomination. The default outcome is an upmerge to the parent categories.

Technical news

  • As previously noted, tighter password requirements for Administrators were put in place last year. Wikipedia should now alert you if your password is less than 10 characters long and thus too short.

Arbitration

Miscellaneous

  • The Community Tech team has been working on a system for temporarily watching pages, and welcomes feedback.

I drafted this. Can you please fix any obvious errors? Bearian (talk) 15:06, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think most of those are of the nature of notices, I agree there might be a chance for the blog--standards are less well defined, and fewer people care. DGG ( talk ) 00:35, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Very many of these news mentions are in fact entirely on some item or another of research that Ardis herself uncovered (eg this Re Winston Churchill[1]). Out of curiosity, DGG, What is Ardis's "extent of citation"...that is, that rating-scale thingee some WPdians use? https://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=%22Ardis+E.+Parshall%22 Of course, the first link[2] in my inquiry pertains to how scholars and writers launder--my term for it--research by those such as Ardis who published online, apparently not wanting to sully their footnotes with web logs. How many Wikipedia articles probably do the same? Mamy on WPdia are afraid of referencing blogs. I have bypassed online sourcing such as Ardis's when contributing to Wikipedia, referencing instead the orig. sourcing that my actual online source referenced instead; this I now find embarrassing. There oughta be some kind of shaming shorthand for it, even though I guess such a practice only truly shortchanges someone such as Ardis who are original discoverer of whatever bit of research. Apparently this is why Ardis doesn't provide footnotes to her posts. And this in turn may explains why so many on Wikipedia do resort to citing her. See here: http://edwardbetts.com/find_link/Keepapitchinin . Of course, this wouldn't include WPdians who have cited authors who themselves already had "laundered" Ardis's findings, they themselves having gone through the stacks in search of whatever items Ardis had made known to them via her blog yet their not attributing her this credit.--Hodgdon's secret garden (talk) 08:12, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ardis is a geneologist-segued-to-historian. Does Claremont's Mormon studies chair, Matt Bowman--who btw has no WP bio--have as many citational mentions in the En-WP as Ardis's, though?

Perhaps of interest is Bowman's take on opening day of the Mormon Church's new history library a few years back: "I arrived at the Library Monday morning (June 22, 2009) just a few minutes before 9 a.m. as the front doors opened. Predictably, Ardis Parshall was first in line. [Harvard's--Hodgd] Laurel Thatcher Ulrich was second to enter the building. I [Bowman] was third."

Ardis replied: "Sure, I had walked down to the library at 7:30 to guarantee my first-in-line place (go ahead and laugh), but when Laurel Ulrich showed up a few minutes to 9:00, all that could have been for naught. She’s a senior scholar — of course I should yield to her! Ah, but she is also my senior in age by a year or two, which provided me with the key to victory. Courtesy demanded that I hold the heavy door open for her to pass through, and I did so … knowing that it was a double door, and that she, just as bound by courtesy, would be obligated to hold the second door wide for me … And so I walzed through first.")[3] --Hodgdon's secret garden (talk) 08:43, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Trap of promotionalism?

[edit]

Dear Editor, I found this thought of yours "Furthermore, promotionalism in the world in general, and in Wikipedia in particular, is so pervasive, that even people without a promotional intend tend to write in a promotional manner." I wonder if this is a trap I might be in too. When I saw your comments on Draft:Sergei_Vakarin I thought it was clear what to do and fixed most of the issues you kindly mentioned. I presented the facts and provided references. However, maybe my current style is a reflection of the trend you mention? Your editorial experience (if I could ask for a favour) would help me a lot in improving my style for any further articles I was planning about issues that are currently missing from the Wikipedia. Demetrius Phalerum (talk) 17:44, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes--it will in this case be a little complicated to explain Remember the distinction between something written from the perspective of what the subject might want the reader to know, and what a reader might want to know. As a start, try reorganizing it in the sequence, Biography, Education, Positions, Research, Publications, Public Involvement--that is, pretty much the reverse of the present version. Then ping me here again and I iwll take a look. DGG ( talk ) 01:28, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I applied your recommended structure on Draft:Sergei_Vakarin and updated the text. It is amazing how much better the information is organized now - thanks a lot! And could I ask you - if you still see any irrelevant information - to kindly change or just delete it? Demetrius Phalerum (talk) 17:57, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Martin has chosen to broaden his professional impact by publishing some of his thoughts on best-in-class problem solving.." is pure advertising He might be notable -- try again from scratch. Sbow nnotability for his books by reviews providing substantial coverage from third-party independent reliable sources DGG ( talk ) 07:33, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your swift reply. I just removed the promotional content. Please remove deletion tag. Thank You. Iconmemory (talk) 07:47, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Iconmemory, Another administrator deleted it on the ground od not showing significance. My advice, as I said, is to start over, in Draft space. Try to show that ne is notable independently of the company, and, in particular, find and link to substantial eviews of his books in references from third-party independent reliable sources, not press releases or mere announcements. Robert Widders

[edit]

Hello DGG, I arrived at AFC Robert Widders as a random AFC and accepted it. Only when I glanced at the talk page of the author did I see that you had commented on it. In the Irish context Widders is notable, the Irish Times and Independent are the two main national newspapers in addition to the British sources. If see comments on an AFC I post a message before accepting but in the case of Widders I didn't see any comments. AugusteBlanqui (talk) 17:33, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AugusteBlanqui, I don't plan to challenge it,. On balance I probably did make an error, so I want to explain my approach & my reasoning, In NPP, I look at only selected articles--those that might show notability on topics that other reviewers might not recognize as such, and, in the other direction, those likely to have problems with promotionalism or autobio. and a good illustration of why it is not advisable to do too much of any one thing--About 90% of submitted AfCs are either trivial or advertising, What I primarily noticed was the use of the current ref 10, that a book was in the collection of the Imperial War Museum, as evidence of significance. It's the sort of desperate attempt at finding significance in the most trivial of mentions that characterizes attempts to find notability where it does not exist--every book about the British army is in their collection. I then noticed that the reviews, were not reviews of the book--they were descriptions of the historical events that the book presented, that show the events were important to Irish history & memory, not that the book wa significant. (This is also true of the review you added). This is of course a matter of interpretation. DGG ( talk ) 02:35, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled from Bzcons44

[edit]

My first article has been set for speedy deletion on the basis that it is promotional. This not the case!

With the guidance that I have received from a number of senior editors eg ThatMontrealIP I now want to try my hand at creating a new article. I am a lead guitarist in a group of musicians. We believe that some of the songs we have written and performed could become popular if they were heard by the wider world. When I googled "letting independent and unsigned artists spread their music" I found Bandcamp and DittoMusic. I also found UnsignedOnly  and Tunecrank . All four of these give budding musicians an opportunity to have their music heard. Then the thought occurred to me - why do two of these have a Wikipedia article and the other two don't? Also being a budding Wikipedia editor, I thought that perhaps either UnsignedOnly or Tunecrank could be a good place for me to create my first article. My reasoning is that if Bandcamp and DittoMusic warrant an article then surely so do UnsignedOnly and Tunecrank. I believe these two have gained sufficiently significant attention by the world at large and over a period of time, and are not outside the scope of Wikipedia. Delving deeper into each I believe I have evidence from reliable and independent sources to gauge this attention and therefore fulfil WP:GNG. I have included "strengths and weaknesses" and "competition" paragraphs - how can that be promotional?

Bzcons44 (talk) 20:22, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY:
See WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY: Even with perfect good faith intention to write a NPOV article, It is almost impossible for any person in any field to write a NPOV article about themselves. Everyone always says what they think it important for other people to know about them (which is essentially the meaning of promotionalism ) rather than what the general public might want to know (which is the essence a a NPOV encyclopedia article). You want other people to know how good your music is; but others will not be interested to know about it unless it is has already become recognized as being so good that independent people write about it it reliable sources. First you have to get recognized as being notable , and only after that comes an article. And when that time comes, others will want to write it. Even once the wider world knows, it will be a fairer article if others write it. Do you intend to write reviews of your own performances, or should they be written by independent critics? People do sometimes try to write or commission reviews of their own performances, and that's called corruption. Do one who ever does it will be respected thereafter, and no one who lets their name be used for such a job will ever again be trusted.
You are writing an article, as you say, because you think that some of your songs "could become popular if they were heard by the wider world." . That's exactly what is meant by promotionalism. We all recognize that it is difficult for " independent and unsigned" artists to win a following, and there are multiple appropriate ways for publicizing oneself-- but one of them is not to try to get yourself into an encyclopedia There are several hundred thousand articles in WP accepted in earlier years when the standards were lower that we need to either upgrade or remove. The least we can do is not add to them. Do you want your group to be another bad example? DGG ( talk ) 04:12, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You miss the point, utterly and completely! I have no intention of writing anything about our group. In fact I subscribe to Bandcamp. I was just giving you the reason why I chose Tunecrank as an article to attempt to create. My only motivation is to get a first article published!

Bzcons44 (talk) 13:14, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize if I was too quick to say you were part of the group; it did seem that way, but I see a more accurate statement is that you were part of a group that hoped to be promoted by organizations such as this one. . But promotionalism is so widespread here, that even people with an intent to write a descriptive NPOV article can easily copy the style of one the promotional articles. Bzcons44, I will look at the article again to see if anything can be rescued. DGG ( talk ) 05:41, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David. If you can find the time please look at my Tunecrank article again. I would love to have it published! Thanks

Could you please Reply? Weddingz Draft

[edit]

Hi DGG,

I saw that you deleted my Draftspace because of speedy deletion (promotional & advertising)

What ever was written within the article were facts. I actually went through wiki guidelines, referred to similar pages like JustDial & Nykaa and then only I created the page. I created a Weddingz Page which was speedy deleted. I had a chat with the deletion administrator Discospinster. She told me growth in revenue, increase in vendors make it look promotional so I removed all such data & submitted it for the review. Now even before getting result of my review submission, my page has been requested for a delete on basis of being promotional. I wrote what many companies wiki pages write like an intro, history containing funding, acquisition info & association. Then why my page was considered promotional. I also gave proper, independent citations. The citations I used are known news media outlets & not some PR tool. The tone was neutral too. How come an article on a company, which is notable, have independent citations & with proper facts like finding, acquisition & partnership be considered promotional? I really want to know what Wikipedia is looking for in a company's Wiki page? How even facts supported by citations & without exaggeration be considered promotional? I also checked other similar pages like JustDial, Nykaa & OYO, which have written have been written in same tone, with similar content material & citation be live for ages.

Kindly help & retrieve it. If you think any information is promotional then edit or delete it or at least give me chance to keep my POV. I hope you will reconsider. I have worked on this for months & have abide by the rules

Also, Please highlight which part seems promotional to you so that I can edit that. Trust me I have abide by Wikipedia rules & I am confused on what basis my article got deleted. So give me example of promotional content within my article. Thanks for your time.

Shrishti Jhamnani (talk) 04:59, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Shrishti Jhamnani, this has now been deleted or listed for deletion 4 times, by 4 different administrators. Every reference is either a press release -- most of them containing nothing more than the same quotes from the company's executives--or a mere notice about funding. Even otherwise reputable news sources publish press releases--one can tell from the content and the duplication; it is the job of PR agents to get such material inserted, but it won't work in WP. . I don't think there are enough usable references or enough chance of notability to be able to find any content that would not be promotional . There are several hundred thousand articles in WP accepted in earlier years when the standards were lower that we need to either upgrade or remove. The least we can do is not add another bad example. Since this is essentially the only article you have worked on, and you have been engaging in repeated and persistent efforts to try to insert it in Wikipedia , it is reasonable for me to ask you whether you have any Conflict of Interest. If so, please see WP:COI. And if it should apply, see also WP:PAID. DGG ( talk ) 06:01, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DGG, I created this account in 2016, when I was a student and that time I used to experiment because it was fascinating. I do contribute to general articles or brand articles whenever I can. I am not into PR nor I am a PR person. I did read the guidelines & I know if we are creating articles for family or client we should inform 1st & I would have done that if this article was PR. I cannot risk my 3 year old account for some article.

I got to know about this company when I read that OYO acquired it. After a year, again I read an article on economic times about the same company. I was searching for a topic for so long & I found one. As even though it was getting lot of coverage because of acquisition & revenue growth & became notable but as it was new, there was no wiki page so I thought of creating one. Trust me, finding a topic to create a page is difficult. As it's my very first article that's why I am adamant on taking it live. I found relevant sources, worked on it & saw many similar wiki articles that's why whatever I have written is something I read & I don't have any extra info about this topic.

Kindly help me or guide me to make my 1st wiki page live. I can edit or delete anything which does not sound relevant. In fact, I was looking for some negative stuff too to add under criticism section but I couldn't find anything as of now. As soon as I will find something, I will add that too. I got the info from popular news website not from some PR sites.

Kindly help me retrieve this article. Your feedback is very valuable to me. Edit or delete passages which are not relevant. In fact, if you are able to find any bad or negative stuff, add that too because for me it is my first Wiki article & I have worked hard on it and want to make it live. In 3 years since I have joined Wiki, this is my first time creating a page & I am very passionate about it. I know there is more info about funding but I saw the same in OYO wiki page.

I hope you will reconsider & help me. Make edits or delete stuff but don't ruin my first creation as I used to work on this on my off day.

Dear David, if you have a moment, could you perhaps have a look at this (rather long) discussion? I got hold of the current reference 34 (through Open Library) and although the attendance figures can indeed be found in this book, it's in a chronology where for every year significant events are listed. For SIGGRAPH this almost alway goes like "ACM/SIGGRAPH was held in xxx with about yyy attendees and zzz exhibitors". Nowhere is there any analytical discussion of these numbers, so I think this falls under WP:INDISCRIMINATE#3. Thanks! --Randykitty (talk) 15:06, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DirectCash Bank and General Bank of Canada

[edit]

@DGG:, the reason I added the WP:PROD tag to the above-captioned redirect pages is that they serve as a redirect to a list of Canadian banks; however, for clarity and information purposes, they're listed as redlinked names in the Template:Canadian banks pages (should anyone ultimately decide to create a page, and so people know they exist). Thus, clicking on that link in that footer box takes the user to yet another list making for a de-facto double redirect. If you'd let me put back on the WP:PROD tag, that'd be appreciated as my concern is the RfD deletion process doesn't have a high success rate. Doug Mehus (talk) 03:48, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If the consensus at RfD would not be to remove, this would not be a proper use of Prod. In my opinion, the question of red links vs redirects to a list has good arguments in both directions. As I understand it, that's the purpose of the redirect with possibilities tag. DGG ( talk ) 03:53, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
DGG, That's fair re: RfD consensus, but if I explain my rationale better, I'm wondering if you might have a way to explain this in an RfD process and see my logic process behind wanting to delete the redirect (which has no real value). You see, in Template:Canadian banks, which I like to maintain religiously and regularly, that template is added to the footer of every page. Many banks and credit unions that aren't WP:Notable are still listed in that template as redlinked banks. If we have a redirect, instead of deleting the page, which redirects to List of banks and credit unions in Canada, the user clicks through from the template to the list. I just don't think that's helpful. Does that make more sense?
. Myself, I like lists because of the information they can give, but my view here has consistently been that each way one is right if it has some advantage for some users. But the problem you pose is real, and I have an idea for a workaround. More tomorrow, when I have a chance to try it out. DGG ( talk ) 04:37, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
DGG, Yeah, I do like lists, too, and I'm all for including them in those lists. I see another user (@Wugapodes:) added a clarifying footnote on WP:Printability, which is useful. However, I'm wondering if we can make this a soft redirect somehow? That is, the user sees the redirect page and chooses whether to click through? What were you thinking of?

Clarification regarding article draft for submission

[edit]

Hello, I am a little confused with your comment that the multiple references for the below draft article do not meet the criteria for notability.

The following five references are multiple, and appear to meet the defined criteria for significant coverage in independent, reliable and secondary sources:

1. Coverage in BloombergQuint.com, a prominent financial news portal formed as partnership between Bloomberg and Quintillion media (reference: https://www.bloomberg.com/company/press/bloomberg-forms-new-partnership-with-quintillion-media-in-india/). Draft Feedback

[edit]

Hello, thanks for taking the time to review my draft. I'm not positive how to proceed however- Could you please provide a little more clarification on what's required to get the draft approved? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Nexant

I can see how the 'Services' and 'Executive Leadersip' sections could read like an advertisement. Would you recommend that both sections be removed, and is there anything else I am perhaps missing?

Many thanks, 50.209.151.194 (talk) 21:57, 10 October 2019 (UTC)Jasper[reply]

encyclopedia articles are written in paragraphs, not table or outlines.
Rewrite the services section to give a plain description without excess verbiage ; for example, "Nexant assists economic development with integrated national and regional energy policy and planning, instituting efficient energy markets, and facilitating the financing of energy infrastructure and energy efficiency technologies in many parts of the world." can be rewritten as "The firm engages in planning and developing energy infrastructure."
For awards, keep only the most significant internationally, and list them in a bulleted list or paragraph, not a table. Everything listing needs a reference, and check that each link actually goes where it should
watch for promotioanl statements, including section headings :"Pair of Research Products to Improve Power System Reliability and Resilience" -- there is no evidence of improvement--the text say to "to measure with standard techniques" and " New Methodology for Valuing Distributed Energy Resources" he text gives no indication that its new. You have to differentiate between t providing standard services, and developing new or innovative ones--if you want to claim the 2nd, you need a reliable 3rd party non-PR source that it actually is new or innovative.
You can list the CEO, but therei s no point is giveing thestandard lineup of c-level posiyions. And you shouldn't say "recognized leader", DGG ( talk ) 04:49, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your time & guidance :) Waiting for your quick & postive revert.

Justpassingby712 (talk) 07:23, 10 October 2019 (UTC) Justpassingby712, I apologize for the delay in responding. Let's look first at the references.[reply]

1) which is from Indian Express, reprinted by msn, is an interview where the subject says whatever he cares to, which, as is usually the case for such interviews, consists of a promotion of his own importance.
2)he wrote himself; 3) tho assembled by someone else, he essentially wrote himself. The publication these two were published in seems to have no editorial control.
4) is another promotional editorial like 1), except that it was published in a place for people to put inspiring stories about themselves, with no editorial control.
5) I have to judge by the format and title, it seems a Hindi equivalent of 2) , and the publication does not seem reliable.
6) Is about a campaign led by someone else, and the publication does not seem reliable.
7) & 8) seem also promotional writeups of what he chooses to say about himself, in the English and Hindi versions of an unreliable source devoted to publishing such accounts with no editorial control.
9) is the same item as 1), but in its original publication instead of the reprint
10), 11) and 12), are his own talks. So we have a total of 1 relevant publication from a respectable newspaper, and that seems to be a promotional interview. Even otherwise decent newspapers publish such stories. They reflect the skills of the PR Representative who arranged their placement.

The purpose of AfC is to avoid putting articles in mainspace that will inevitably be deleted. I've worked on articles like this for many years here, and it's clear that this wouldn't have a chance of escaping deletion.

And, since this is the only article you've written, it might be relevant to remind you of our rules on WP:Conflict of interest and , perhaps WP:PAID. DGG ( talk ) 18:59, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kurt Keutzer and Forrest Iandola articles

[edit]

Thanks for making tons of improvements to the Kurt Keutzer article and then approving the AfC. I've been noticing your edits on WP for a long time, and I continue to be impressed with how much you get done on WP.

I just submitted Draft: Forrest Iandola for AfC. This article had been in the main namespace, but a user asked for it to go through AfC. This was good motivation to purge some superfluous content from the article and to vet and update the references. Also, I posted some thoughts on the article's sources on Draft_talk: Forrest Iandola Anyway, if you get a chance to review this AfC, I would be most appreciative. And, if you have feedback, I would be happy to work on edits. 104gli (talk) 06:22, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DGG, thanks for commenting on the draft I've been working on. I tried to act on your most recent comment Draft:Mike Salvino, and also gave it a layout more like other big CEO pages. RE: Could you please reply - Draft:Weddings?

[edit]

Thanks for your time & guidance :) Waiting for your quick & postive revert. Shrishti Jhamnani (talk) 05:22, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Coverage link: https://energy.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/renewable/we-will-achieve-rs-100-cr-annual-revenue-this-financial-year-pranesh-chaudhary-founder-zunroof/70024921

Indigenus~enwiki (talk) 10:42, 14 October 2019 (UTC) Your ref 1 is basically PR, relying a an interview with the founder, implying expansive claims for significant market penetrance in 50 cities but with evidence only for 1. ; 2 similarly, except they gave it only part of a column about a number of enterprises and on-profits--all of them PR; 3, a reasonably high quality informative general article, but with only a brief from the company's founder, along with those from others. This confirms my long-held view that even important newspapers that publish real articles, publish PR also. DGG ( talk ) 17:53, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DGG, I appreciate your insight on my draft. This is my first try at writing an article on Wikipedia. I am writing it because I personally beleive in social work and reformation and thought that someone who is doing that deserves notoreity. But since it is my first try I am privy to mistakes. I did go through Wikipedia guideleines on notabiltity and neutrality of language among many others, but my undersatnding has probably been faulty. Could you further clrify if the notability issue of the sources quoted was the reason that it sounded promotional to you, or was the language used for drafting the page seemingly promotional to you as well? Kindly look at the other pages on which I put speedy deletion templates because creators are removing templates and it is becoming difficult to trace them. Regards, — Harshil want to talk? 06:02, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

anyone except the original creator is entitled to remove a speedy deletion template. There are three good ways to find which ones you nominate that have not been deleted:
(1) Add the pages to your watchlist. The edit of removing the template will show there.
(2) Check you user contributions. If they have been deleted they will be red. If they stay blue, they have not been.
(3) If you use Twinkle for entering CSDs, and you should, there is an option to add them to your CSD Log, a subpage of your user page. You can hen easily track which ones do not get deleted.
vI've checked your deletion nominations, and quite afew of them are being properly removed, because they were wrongly placed. The most frequent error, and one that was continuing at least a day or two ago, was overuse of G2, test page. A short stub is not a test page. So I assume you want to check back so you can be sure of seeing when you made an error, which is of course a very good thing to do. I make errors too, evenen though I thin kquite rarely, but when I do, I want to see them and learn from them. DGG ( talk ) 17:41, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have created an article. You can access it at following link.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mohammad_Kabir_Hassan

This article has been declined due to reason of being promoting someone. The subject person in the article is a notable person being a leading authority in the field of Islamic finance. I have mentioned most of his detail from third-party sources which are properly cited. I have declared in the beginning of creating this article that i am not connected to the subject matter but the distinguished reviewer has asked me to declare the Conflict of Interest. I also need the help regarding listing the books of subject matter in standard bibliographic format. I will highly appreciate the help. The subject matter has more than 200 publications in peer-reviewed academic Journals and have overall citation more than 9000. But its impossible to declare all in an article. How can i address this issue.

Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated Thank you very much.

Khan.ishal (talk) 09:27, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that the writing is characteristic of that done in this field by promotional editors. Unfortunately, the prevalence of promotionalism and advertising is so great, both in the world in general, and even in Wikipedia, that it frequently does happen that editors writing in perfectly good faith, tend to write in a promotional format.
First step is to remove adjective and phrases implying praise or excellence and then minor awards, including awards from his own university. .
Second step is to add his books. Use WorldCat [5] and make a list of them. Note that only a few of the items listed are by him, in contrast to other people by the same name or books in which has written only a chapter) . (the WorldCat entry has a button on the upper right to show the citation format)
Third step is to figure out whether he has any highly cited articles This best done with Google Scholar. see [6] Some of these are very highly cited. List the top 3 . Only articles with high citations count.
Fifth step, is to add the details of all his degrees and positions complete with years
Sixth step is to removematerial that does not belong, like section 5--this is opinion, and we do not include this.

Then submit again, and either I or some other reviewer will check it. DGG ( talk ) 10:18, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

as you see, there are many requests. I have only two choices: or to give very brief answers like most admins, or to give full answers, even though that means delays. DGG ( talk ) 06:35, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 10:54:15, 30 October 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Khan.ishal

[edit]

Again i would like to thank you for your time to review my article it. You deleted my article "Mohammad Kabir Hassan" two time. I followed your all instructions to the best of my skills. You deleted the article with the objection that it is copied from the subject matter Elsevier webpage. Only the introduction might be nearly related to the content from web page at Elsevier. Rest is entirely written by me in my own words. I have spent a lot of time and effort on creating this page, therefore I request you again to please to help me improve the article again. Your kind response will highly be appreciated.

Is this a notable company?

[edit]

Hi, I wanted to create an article for the Indian company boAt which is one of the popular brands for mobile accessories. I have listed a few sources on my sandbox (User:Ibiza Gnome/sandbox) which describe the company's history, operations, etc. Can you take a look at these sources and let me know if this company is notable? I'm asking you because I don't want to put my time and efforts into creating the article before someone nominates it for AFD and wastes it all. Thanks. Please Review The Leapfroggers: An Insider's Account of ISRO article that you moved to draft

[edit]

I am not connected to the author or the book. So, there's no conflict on interest. I have added more facts, as well as citations. Please move the article from drafts to live. Scenecontra (talk) 10:05, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It will soon be reviewed by. someo other editor,. What you could do in the meantime is add additional references to publsihed reviews, including perhaps a one sentence quotation from them to show the book's importance. DGG ( talk ) 10:08, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
