Hi there - I noticed that you interacted with this user earlier this year about edits to Navarro College. The user, as well as their alternate username User:Uaeb, has made further edits to the page this week. Soliciting Feedback for Art+Feminism grants[edit]

Hi Daniel Case, we are laying plans for the 2015 Art+Feminism editathon. As part of this process we have written two linked PEG and IEG grants. We have given extensive community notice, but haven’t generated substantial feedback. As one of the Satellite Event organizers we would really like your feedback, comments and questions, and if you support the grants, your endorsement of one or both of them. Additionally, we have confirmed International Women's Day, March 8th 2015 as the date of the international editathon. We hope you will be able to participate, as an organizer, facilitator, or participant. On behalf of my co-organizers. --Theredproject (talk) 21:16, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

speedy help please[edit]

I'm not badmouthing you at all. On the contrary I'm using you as an good example that oversight of private information can be done in a very speedy manner. So speedy that I was never informed what I had done wrong or given any intelligible explanation of any sort. By this experience I know for a fact that oversight can be performed very quickly. So we would really need your speedy services here right now. User Perswapish have been outed with all his alternative accounts why his private identity can be revealed. Don't ask too many questions and do as you did last time and simply delete all information about his alternative accounts. Thank you very much in advance! iNic (talk) 19:58, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. In rereading what you wrote I see that "the admin" was intended to refer to the admin who hadn't oversighted Perswapish's stuff. But I read it against what you had said in your response to me that I hadn't seen up until that point. Again, I am sorry. Daniel Case (talk) 15:40, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please help out and speedy delete the outing of private information that happened to Perswapish? iNic (talk) 19:20, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Could you email me the diffs I would need to oversight? Daniel Case (talk) 19:27, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You reviewed an unblock request there. While I'm not saying you are wrong in your final decision, you may have been wrong in your interpretation of the SPI. Only edits are to AFC submission[edit]

I noticed that you recently gave "Only edits are to AFC submission" as the reason to decline a UAA report at Special:Diff/634268316. Per Wikipedia:Username policy/RFC#"Only edits are to AFC submission", isn't that no longer a valid reason to use? Jackmcbarn (talk) 01:04, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Jackmcbarn: See my contributions to the linked discussion, which was not so much about whether not to use that argument for inaction on a username but rather whether to raise that to the level of policy. The "no consensus" conclusion is that it's up to the individual admin, really, and for the reasons that I stated at the time I continue to believe that anyone editing in such a way that would otherwise trigger a username block should be left unblocked when their only edits are to an AfC submission. 99.246.38.127[edit]

Hi DC, could you please look at IP 99.246.38.127's recent edits if you get a chance. You previously blocked them for disruptive editing. They went through a bunch of articles and removed |runtime= from the infobox without explanation. Most recently I notice them making a lot of changes, again with no explanations. Here they change the category for a Mr. Wizard TV series from Category:Science education television series to Category:Global Television Network shows. The former makes sense, the latter does not. In this edit the user changes Category:Canadian children's television series to Category:Family Channel shows even though it's pretty clear from article prose that it is a Canadian children's TV series. And here they remove sourced content and replace it with unsourced content. I'm not getting a good-faith vibe from this IP. Thanks, lemme know if I can help in any way. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 08:31, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Destructive Destroyer Vandal[edit]

Hey DC, I was hoping you could take a look at 108.51.173.37 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) since you were the last admin to block. Not sure if it's better to try a sock investigation, but this IP geolocates to Gaithersburg, Maryland and is being used by someone I and SummerPhD have run into a few times. The IP user has been brought to ANI at least twice: [1][2]. They're known for adding gushy interpretive content and excessive adjectives, often redundant (hence my name for the user) to articles related to kids' TV. You previously blocked them for 3 months for doing this, and they're back with more of the same nonsense. In this edit the user describes a kiss on the cheek as a "loving kiss on the cheek". Power --> vital life energy. Secret --> incredible secret. Shredder's men --> loyal minions (redundant). Here they add interpretive content about Leonardo claiming that he meets "and falls in love with" Karai. They've never responded to discussions as far as I know, and they don't seem to have any interest in stopping. You'll also notice in some of their recent edits that they're removing references with no explanation. The latest edits are clearly the same person. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:28, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know that I have anything to add here. My memory is a bit clouded by what is likely two editors who may or may not be connected here. One (or more) is using an ever-changing string of IPs used primarily to change release dates for various VHS and DVDs of Vegitales without explanation or source (sometimes duplicating an existing source or removing a source). Another is using changing IPs to add fictional ages to the characters in Full House and other kids'/family shows. - SummerPhD (talk) 01:14, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It probably won't help, but here's a talk page note. She (and I'm being sexist by making this presumption) is the user who kept adding "head over heels in love" to articles and tends to be overly fixated on potentially romantic situations, but they also went overboard with redundancies like here where we see "infinitely limitless and immeasurable", "incredibly strong and effectively powerful". Or here where we see "Rex shared a romantic kiss with his unusual love interest, Circe", "Nanites were designed to only be usable in their purest state and form", "newly modified and even much stronger", "Rex's official love interest, true love, and girlfriend". Etc. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:43, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyphoidbomb and SummerPhD: I have decided to block the IP for six months this time. If that's all the access they have, we should be able to rest easy until summertime. If it isn't, and they start trying to use other access points, then we can start an SPI. Daniel Case (talk) 04:22, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Block evasion: 69.203.27.146[edit]

Hi DC, IP 69.203.27.146 (New York, NY, ISP: Time Warner Cable) was blocked for six months circa September 2014 for repeated introduction of disruptive content, including this stuff at All Grown Up!. If you skim it, you'll notice a lot of personal interpretation, age speculation, the use of describing a character as a rapper, gangster, and bizarrely incoherent statements like "Phil and Lil are block-football-headed former good/bad friends/bullies of Tommy". 68.175.71.85 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) (NY, NY, ISP: TWC) appears to be circumventing this block, an assertion I make based on these edits at All Grown Up! where again we see bizarre statements like "Phil and Lil are singers and best and good friends of formerly Tommy, Chuckie and Dil" along with unsourced commentary and personal interpretations: "Phil is too negative and compulsive and a thug, stupid goofball, judge, liar, bully, rival, abuser, serial fun maker, fighter and arguer." Seems pretty ducky to me, but I'd appreciate it if you'd take a gander. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:53, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Another: 184.153.12.106 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) Geolocates to NY, NY, TWC ISP, disruption at All Grown Up! here with other disruptions at a related article dating back to January 5, 2015. They appear to have cycled back to this IP. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:19, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting your input[edit]

I am requesting your input at Max A. George and its talk page, where there has been incivility, personality attacks, and owning of a page by its creator is going on, without any kind of mediation or discussion able to take place, and I feel as if an administrative power should be included. I've attempted to apologise if said-user felt attacked in any way by my actions (which were in good-faith, however, they are not being seen as such. The incivility is alarming, as it states on their page One thing I hate the most is when people mess my work up., which shows clear ownership of articles, and how their editing-pattern is followed. Brandreth Pill Factory Remains Photo[edit]

Now posted if you care to use in some way. Photograph showing the status of the Brandreth Pill Factory buildings as of the posting of a Village of Ossining, NY Building Department "Stop work" sign, dated April 14, 2015, citing "Demolition without a permit" as reason. Did a number of national landmarks over the summer during the "campaign" in this area and enjoyed making new discoveries. I can easily cover Northern Dutchess, Putnam County and Greenwich Village in Manhattan and occasionally points in-between such as this.

Hello there. I'm processing a WP:ACC request for an account with a similar name to this, and I can't seem to see why this account was blocked. I see the template on the page that claims it is obviously profane; threatens, attacks or impersonates another person; or suggests that you do not intend to contribute positively to the encyclopedia but I'm unclear about which one of that broad range of possibilities the name was blocked for. I don't personally see any of them applying, so if you could clarify for me, I would appreciate that so I can determine how to proceed with the current request. Just a question[edit]

Hi, I noticed you were involved on the DRV page for the Lyle Stevik AfD and just a had a question for you. The nominator was given permission to re-open the debate because I had pinged those who had given !keep votes in the previous AfD and it apparently altered the outcome of the debate. After they were given permission to do so, they pinged those editors who had given !delete votes, which honestly defeats the purpose of the renomination. I read the the DRV entry and I realize that is wasn't right for me to ping the others (some of which returned on their own) but I don't understand exactly why this individual is being somewhat of a hypocrite. QI candidates[edit]

Hi Daniel. I see you are a very experienced Wikipedian, but I wanted to question some of your judgments/humor on the QI page. You declined my image of a silver skipper because of distracting background - unfair I think for a macro image of an insect that rests near to the ground. I could easily decline your street in Macclesfield image because of the distracting road signs in the foreground, but don't want an edit war. Also, if the Porsche image in not sharp it is not QI, I don't think you can say you like a 'certain dreaminess'. Likewise your jokey approval of Matt Buck's image of a misty building seems inappropriate. All I'm asking for is objectivity and consistency. Many thanks. --Charlesjsharp (talk) 07:38, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wednesday June 10, 7pm: WikiWednesday Salon / Wikimedia NYC Annual Meeting

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our next evening "WikiWednesday" salon and knowledge-sharing workshop by 14th Street / Union Square in Manhattan.

This month will also feature on our agenda: recent and upcoming editathons, the organization's Annual Meeting, and Chapter board elections.

We also hope for the participation of our friends from the Free Culture movement and from educational and cultural institutions interested in developing free knowledge projects. We will also follow up on plans for recent and upcoming editathons, and other outreach activities.

After the main meeting, pizza and refreshments and video games in the gallery!

7:00pm - 9:00 pm at Babycastles, 137 West 14th Street

Featuring a keynote talk this month to be determined! We especially encourage folks to add your 5-minute lightning talks to our roster, and otherwise join in the "open space" experience! Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Pharos (talk) 16:01, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
