A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Deaf-action, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. October 2022[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Bbb23 (talk) 17:28, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was trying to create a page about a Deaf-led organisation, similar to ones found in 'Category:Deafness charities'. I hadn't finished editing the article yet, I was in the process of collating more sources and information so saved the draft so that I wouldn't lose my progress. I would like to be unblocked please so I can work on it further - I will read the guidelines through again and I'm open to help with editing and how to make it more neutral. If this is not an option, can I be unblocked so I can request the article to be written by another editor. Thanks.

Decline reason:

You have not proposed a new username as instructed. You probably won't be unblocked to merely request an article be written- the backlog at Requested Articles is severe to the point of making that area useless- any request you make will likely not be acted on for some time, if ever. Please read conflict of interest and paid editing and tell us how your contributions will be consistent with those policies(note that "paid editing" includes employment, unpaid-in-money interning, or any form of compensation) as well as any other topics you might edit about in the near term. 331dot (talk) 11:57, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Please place new posts at the bottom, for proper discussion flow. 331dot (talk) 11:57, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'll add that Wikipedia is not a place to merely tell about an organization and what it does- that is considered promotional here. A Wikipedia article about an organization must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about it, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. 331dot (talk) 11:58, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

My apologies, I misunderstood and thought the new username proposal was completely separate from the appeal due to the layout of the description - I have now added this. I completely understand and want the article to follow the conflict of interest guidelines. I have amended the disclosure to the page. As I said, I have re-read the guidelines and understand them more clearly now so will make sure to follow them. I have lots more information and reliable sources to add, focusing on independent secondary sources. These sources will show that the organisation has had a significant effect on culture, society and entertainment. I will also be consulting a neutral third party to assist me in giving feedback about the article, and will request for it to be reviewed, both to ensure it is not promotional.

Decline reason:

No, sorry. If you wish to write in subject areas for which you have no conflict of interest, you are free to make a new request. Yamla (talk) 11:42, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
