Arbitration[edit]

Hi! I've not been involved in any arbitration matters personally, but I believe the following link gives you all the information you need: WP:RFArb. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me again. Best wishes HowardBerry 18:18, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! It's great to see that some Wikipedia users on here are still cordial and helpful to other users. :) Deathen Taxes 18:19, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Any time! Glad to be of some help! HowardBerry 18:23, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Zing Zing block[edit]

I blocked the Zing Zing account because of the edits it made to ChadBryant's user page. How about holding off editing other accounts' user pages, and take it to arbitration instead.

In your earlier messages you tried to deny that all those other accounts were sockpuppets. That was never particularly credible especially for account names like User:CHadbryant and User:AnaleaseBryant. User page shenanigans like that only hurt credibility, and might put you at a disadvantage when it comes to wrestling-related editing issues: people who revert the userpage edits will often assume the same bad faith for other edits and revert those too.

Also, you should be aware of Wikipedia:No personal attacks ("fat, bloated, ignorant, homosexual sociopath"). Arbitrators usually take a very strong stand against any kind of personal attacks, not because we're all trying to be hypocritically polite, but because they tend to inflame the other person and make them even more ornery and obstinate and less likely to compromise or see another point of view. In other words, personal attacks stir up edit wars, which in an encyclopedia that anyone can edit is exactly what we want to avoid. So that's why even insults that would just be shrugged off in everyday life get cracked down on here. Again, it hurts credibility and puts you at a disadvantage.

So please stick to article-related facts and issues and not personal issues, we don't really wish to have personal feuds and vendettas carried out across our pages. If ChadBryant has done things that violate Wikipedia policy then you should document that and take it to arbitration... but it should be "just the facts", not personal issues. -- Curps 19:14, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I see you left a message about arbitration on my talk page while I was writing the above. I hope things will be resolved. -- Curps 19:16, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I left additonal comments on your talk page. Expect them to either vanish due to Chadbryant's editings/reverts or the ones from another admin, or at the very least Chadbryant's petty behavior. In fact, as I type this, I'm wondering how long it will take before the bastard puts another sockpuppet template onto this account. Deathen Taxes 19:28, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

For arbitration, it's not enough to link to a contributions page... you should link to specific diffs. In other words, go to a user's contribution page (or a page's history page) and click on one of the "diff" links (there's one on each line) and use the resulting URL. For instance, your last edit to my talk page was at:

This shows exactly what a person wrote and when they wrote it, so it helps arbitrators to understand what's going on. -- Curps 19:38, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also, for arbitration you have to be careful about procedure... for instance, I believe that before arbitration can proceed you have to notify the person you're seeking arbitration against (leaving a message on their talk page), and demonstrate that you made this notification by posting the diff at the arbitration page. See some of the other arbitration cases for examples. Needless to say, just leave a straightforward notification message on ChadBryant's talk page (insults would look bad). -- Curps 20:24, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for making this comment: [2]. Wikipedia has a Wikipedia:No personal attacks policy, which you have flagrantly violated. You can edit here when you stop making personal attacks and removing other users' comments. Rhobite 21:24, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Real nice, idiot. Not only will this not allow me to continue my arbitration request, but you didn't even give me an opportunity to change the comments. You COULD have changed them yourself, or asked me to do it. But did you? No. Instead, you block me. Fine, fuck you. Don't blame me when I create sockpuppet Arbitrarily Blocked. Deathen Taxes 23:14, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Responses like that one will ensure that nobody takes your complaints seriously. You're free to call people idiots and homos until you're blue in the face, but if you ever want your case considered you're going to have to learn to play nice. Thanks. Rhobite 23:21, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The response may have been a bit . . . aggressive . . . but also warranted. Why are you blocking an account that has an ongoing arbitration issue? I was told to take it to arbitration by Curps. I subsequently did so, and now you're blocking the account that requested the arbitration! Are you nuts? Why are you being such a . . . ok I won't write that since you'll just make remarks like those above again but it almost seems like you are taunting me. "Why are you hitting yoursef? Why are you hitting yourself?" Really, do we need to keep this shit up until the sun is a dark lump of coal the size of your forehead? Oh Good Grief 23:24, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you realize how strict the personal attacks policy here is. Curps may not have mentioned this, but arbitration will probably result in YOU being blocked for a very long time due to your flagrant violations of this policy. Even if you are the one who initially files the case. My advice is for you to apologize to Chad, apologize to me, and cease making personal attacks. I won't block you again unless you continue to call people names in the future. Rhobite 23:29, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I realize how strict it is. I also realize why you're taking this so personally -- it's because I've insulted you under other accounts. That's not very professional of you, but the fact is you never seemed very professional to me to begin with. Blocking an account which has an ongoing arbitration dispute is a good example of that unprofessionalism. I sure as HELL won't apologise to Chad -- the sun/coal hybrid will be orbiting towards the Andromeda galaxy before that happens -- and I won't apologize to you, either. All you had to do was mention to me on the talk page that the personal attack was there, and I would've deleted/edited it. Or you could have done so yourself and warned me via the templates available at your disposal. Or you could have done any other numerous actions. But did you? No. You chose to block, which is supposed to be one of the last resorts used in these cases. I believe you have acted wrongly, and if you want an apology, you will be waiting for a long, long time. Even if I have to refile the request for arbitration under another sockpuppet. Oh Good Grief 23:33, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
