Consideration before deletion

[edit]

The page I made about Karito Kids was deleted for Advertising. I am a teacher who learned about the dolls and books. I am not a part of the company and I do not work for the company. My daughter is using the website right now and I am learning more about it as it was featured in O magazine and won awards. I do not see how an entry for Karito dolls is any different than American Girl or Webkinz having a site.

Please reconsider this choice. --Comradepuma (talk) 23:27, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Politely contesting deletion

[edit]

Deb, thanks for your time. A page that I created, "Wilcoxon Research" was deleted. I would be happy to make any edits which make this page acceptable. It is my understanding that a page about a business is acceptable if it is not advertising but rather encyclopedic. I made every effort to make the page about Wilcoxon Research's history, notable contributions to the field of vibration monitoring, and general use of products. Both of Wilcoxon Research's competitors, PCB Piezoelectronics and Connection Technology Center, have pages with much less relevant and non-encycolpedic information, so I do not understand why ours was deleted. Please let me know how I can change the content so that it is permitted to stay.

Thank you, Courtney Schlapo Courtney Schlapo (talk) 19:18, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request explanation of deletion notification

[edit]

Hello, Deb. I'm a big horror fan, and was going to add in some of the missing horror writers and film directors, but apparently Wikipedia does not need any more author writeups. I'm a bit confused, since I made sure to add in a lot of references. The next author I was going to write up was JG Faherty, who has several short stories up for Bram Stoker award nominations. Can you explain to me why you're going to delete a writeup I spent two days writing? Also, since it seems I'm not welcome to participate, how do I go about reversing my donation? The node is Guy Anthony De Marco. AAraxin (talk) 14:07, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I mean c'mon Deb... who doesn't like a little NONSENSE about Corey Perry. U just don't understand how much of a pussy he truly is.

p.s. Corey Perry actually did win the gigantic pussy award--- in my heart. <3 aLnIps --alnips (talk) 12:57, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

...on the Richard Thornton article. Quick work! Robiati (talk) 18:54, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why one needs to exercise such force when deleting an entry without practical basis and seemingly with harsh bias. As others have stated, I too would concur, allow content to develop before you hastily pull the plug without actually reading a full article. Perhaps a real full time job may help your cause or at least help the rest of the community's at large.

Deb, what is wrong with my page?

                  --Sari-moto (talk) 17:19, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deb, what is up with this. There was previously a well explained, balanced article on this site. Someone deleted it for "blatant" advertising. I carefully re-started this entry, with just the simple facts and naming the competition to this entity. Before there is any chance of establishing an article about this notable company, mentioning this new notable market, BOOM it gets deleted again for blatant advertising. It was only 4 sentences long. Try actually reading the article before hitting the delete key. Why the impatience? I'm a professional journalist and am slowly compiling the documentation of other facts--as I have done on other articles here. Suddenly, factual based articles come under attack. What is this clique that starts irrationally deleting articles? Relax. Let content grow. Information is the mission here. Not censorship on prejudice. Geeez. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The info source (talkcontribs) 05:26, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deb, I dont understand why this page is flagged for deletion, this is a page i have been asked to setup by many people to give more information on the band. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Epic45 (talkcontribs) 20:33, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deb, I just edited the Elemental Technologies page that you marked as advertising. If you could please contact me to discuss further, I would appreciate it. It is completely neutral and has been up for over two months, so I was a little surprised to see it get marked with that. It will be constantly updated and includes references and points to other pages, which involves a good deal of work. Thanks. -Etison etiwiki (talk) 15:43, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Deb, I am editing the Mauthner cell page, this is my first entry on wikipedia. For some reason all the carriage returns i.e. end of line commands are missing, so the page looks horrible and scrolls horizontally. Any idea why? Could you help me fix it. Thanks Shenweiss --Shenweiss (talk) 02:02, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good day Deb, wondering why you quickly deleted the Sigsaly transmissions page?? I had just added the hangon tag and added a comment to the talk page and not even 5 minutes later you delete the page... our record label is just as notable and relevant as the numerous others that are listed. Please help me to understand. kind regards, Helosix (talk) 22:28, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Deb: I don't know if I'm doing this right but I'd like to appeal the decision to delete "Evaluating Youth Programs" under Youth Programs. it will be greatly expanded in the next 2 weeks and will very useful information about issues related to evaluating youth programs in the out-of-school time and youth development fields. In fact we were going to link to it during a public presentation at the end of the month and several people are waiting to post content that will include broader context shortly. Please advise.Rnsaito (talk) 06:43, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deb, I do not undertand why you think nextbio is spam. I think nextbio is as relevant to have on wikipedia as google or any other searchengine. Do some research about it and maybe you should write the wikipedia page instead? If you do not see the relevance I think i can show you alot of news articles about it. best, Amin —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aminoacid91 (talkcontribs) 20:57, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deb, I see you have deleted [Cobbler (software)] without first consulting me. Please do not delete this page. It is not advertising as this application is not even sold. If you do not understand the article please leave it as it is not hurting anything. Llamastorm (talk) 23:38, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deb, in response to you saying you don't even remember why you deleted the UpStage page (without any discussion): the deletion log says "A7 (group): Doesn't indicate importance or significance of a group/company/etc.)". However, UpStage is NOT a group/company/etc - UpStage is a software application, and of growing signficance albeit within a fairly niche area. The page was not advertising - UpStage is a free, open source, application, and the page was created by someone outside of the project team. You seem to like deleting things without giving those involved time to state their case - perhaps in future you could be a bit less hasty? Frock (talk) 20:30, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hi deb, i wasn't being agressive, just a little frustrated ; ) i didn't write the UpStage page myself & in fact never saw it - i only discover it existed after it had been deleted. i will create a proper page for it as soon as i have time. Frock (talk) 00:50, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Deb

[edit]

Sorry if this isn't the best way to contact you - I'm just finding my feet on Wiki. You've just deleted a page I've taken all morning writting on The mOmentum Effect. I contest that. First off I am not the author of the book but a fan. The book is starting to generate significant interest among business book readers - I have come across dozens of references to it on various blogs. The article as written covers the basic premise of the book but concentrates on how it adds to earlier works.

Unfortunately I am about to be away from internet access for a week or so but I would prefer it if you could leave the page up and we can argue about whether the book is notable or not. As I say - I don't beleive that the article as written comes anywhere near spam or promotion and I would have no interest in doing so. nzstephen

Hello, Deb. The MOS guidelines have changed: We no longer autolink dates, per WP:MOSNUM. I removed the links you added to Ivor Novello, but please remove date links from your other articles per the new guideline. Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:58, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus? The policy has been changed. It was done after about 2 years of discussion. Check it out. I had to change all my articles too. No more date linking. Bots are removing date links automatically. The policy says: "The linking of dates purely for the purpose of autoformatting is now deprecated – although it once was considered desirable, it no longer is." This change was made on August 24, 2008 on the basis of this archived discussion; See also: here. -- Ssilvers (talk) 14:24, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Deb, the guidelines have decisively changed, and dates are no longer autoformatted. Please let me know if you require further information; you can list any article that needs automatic treatment throughout here, including the fixing of wrong global choices (US formatting for UK articles, for example) and inconsistencies within the main text. Suggested review of deletion

You've deleted my page on The Echo Label catalogue for "blatant advertising" which I can't understand at all. All I plan to do is create a page in a similar vein to Factory Records catalogue for a full reference of the echo label's releases. It is not advertising, it is simply information, like any other page on wikipedia.

Reply: OK I have read What Wikipedia Is Not, I didn't see a reason that this article should be prevented, how can I retreive the information created before deletion?

Sorry, I see you removed the copyvio template from the top of the article. Ignore my prior message. Thanks again. (EmilyWolff (talk) 23:26, 31 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Regarding this deletion - I declined it for CSD several weeks ago on the basis of the subject being a published author of at least three books, two of which are available for sale on Amazon.com. Even if there's a COI on this article, it does still appear he's notable enough for an entry, between being a published author and having at least a few reviews or mentions of him. Can you tell me how strongly you feel about this deletion? Thanks!  Frank  |  talk  21:42, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cedric

[edit]

Hello, I see that you seem to be online now. I noticed this article Cedric was a disamb page but someone hijacked it into a page about a musician. There's many edits with the musician info. I want to rollback to the disamb page, but can't. I do have rollback rights but don't have the option to rollback in this case. Instead of doing a ton of undos, I was wondering if an admin can revert to the right revision. Thanks! --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 12:57, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I know you said you have to go, but a question with no quick reply needed - should I warn the user? Is it considered vandalism? I'm not sure if that would not be assuming good faith. Just curious. Thanks again! --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 13:01, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject Years is clear that dates should be repeated in the "Events", "Births", and "Deaths" sections, rather than creating subheadings. There was some discussion as to replacing with subheadings, but there's no clear consensus. Please don't make changes without consensus. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 22:21, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The reason this article was short is that it was a start, a base if you like, for future extension. It seems a bit vicious that a page cannot last 10 minutes without a swift condemnation. Ramasters (talk) 17:09, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deb - you've been here for ages! I'm not sure I've spoken to anyone from the class of 2002, before. Kudos to you for having done so much & not having been driven screaming mad by it all before now. You'll absolutely not want to know, but I'll tell you anyway (the cause of my writing), that an inaccurate fact entered by you into the Ilkley article in November 2002 has just this day been excised, and by an IP, no less.
