This seems radically similar to Ys 1, although it's older, so I'm not really sure which pages is plagiarising which...

Problematic IP user (Part 2)

Hello, this time he's using Special:Contributions/75.159.118.134, as was previously discussed in your Archive 32.Hoops gza (talk) 21:16, 1 May 2014 (UTC) Well, he's been blocked now, though only for 31 hours. You may wish to look at those three IPs again to see if you deem an extended block necessary. There is no doubt by now that it is either the same person on all three, or people working together to subtly ruin part of Wikipedia.Hoops gza (talk) 21:19, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

It's probably just one guy; though Edmonton and Grande Prairie are 5 hrs apart by car, people often travel to and fro for work. I can see why a 31-hr block was chosen, as it's the first block for that particular IP. The block just wore off for 206.75.168.247, which is in Edmonton. I've started keeping a record of problematic IPs and users that I want to follow up on, and putting them in Google Calendar, which then sends me an email reminder and then I check for edits. Question

Hello,

I have a question for you. Are there supposed to be time slots for the syndicated shows in TV station articles? I thought they weren't supposed to be there, but there is an IP address that likes to keep adding them, especially to the KRNV-DT article. I am pretty sure that it is the same user doing all of that editing, but it shows up under different IP addresses each day. I just wanted your opinion. I am looking forward to hearing what you think about them.

Confusion

Hi Diannaa. I noticed you mentioned the phrase "anti-Hitler propaganda" on Kierzeks talk page regarding the recent discussion about the sexual relationship between Hitler and Eva, I am sure you remember? The thing is, I once created an article regarding "anti-Nazi propaganda" since there is an article for Nazi-propaganda (anti-Hitler and anti-Nazi propaganda should be regarded as the same). However, within a few hours of creation, the article was nominated for deletion. I took part in a heated discussion on the articles entry page, and was completely overruled. It was apparently concluded that "no such thing as anti-Hitler propaganda exist". I am, therefore, confused as to why you can use it to denounce information or use it as a counter-argument in a discussion, if Wikipedia has concluded that "no such thing exist". It was user:Kierzek who used the phrase "anti-Hitler propaganda", quoting Kershaw. No one at the deletion discussion said that anti-Nazi propaganda does not exist. The people who !voted to deleted the article said that the subject matter was not adequately covered in reliable sources to qualify for an article. Help

I have a very annoying problem: As you can see I have added a WikiTable and episode list on Hitler's Warriors article, but the table wont stay in the "Episodes" section and I don't know why? Its added under the "Episodes" section, but it will only be at the bottom of the page, much to my irritation. If you can fix this problem, please do so. Thank you. @Jonas Vinther: Sorry to be so brief before; I was in the middle of something. Some articles qualify for speedy deletion. Speedy deletion criteria are listed at Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion (for articles, criteria G1 through G13 and A1 through A11). Articles can also be deleted via a "prod", which is short for Wikipedia:Proposed deletion, which is a process for articles that pretty obviously need to be deleted but don't qualify for speedy deletion. The third way articles can be deleted is via a deletion discussion, WP:AFD. Regardless of the deletion type, the creator of the article should be notified of the deletion nomination. It's just, I've created a few stubs, that I don't know enough about to create a full-length article, which I hope other editors will write on. And I remember seeing a notification on a talk page not so long ago by a long-term Wikipidian, who said something like: "I have deleted the stub you created back in 2005 because it's still a stub". Hello! I let the first two reverts slide before bringing him to your attention again, but he's made a third edit and will likely make more (163.32.124.125 (talk · contribs)). Sigh. Not that there's any doubt, but his last three edits prove that he can't even make simple gnomish edits without including a tirade against "disabled hating numbskulls". Dear Diannaa,

While you were doing the GAR for The Holocaust in Belgium, you tried valiantly to persuade of the benefits of the template:sfn method of footnoting. While I'm not fully converted, I'd like to transfer Battle of Belgium to this standard and wondered if you know of a more efficient way than the basic mechanical style? I did the conversion manually at Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria which took absolutely ages and was far from perfect...

Adolf Hitler: The Greatest Story Never Told

Hi friend. I think it's time to create an article regarding the 2013 Nazi propaganda and highly controversial 6-hour documentary called Adolf Hitler: The Greatest Story Never Told. Google search shows signs of extreme notability, however, I'm having doubts whether to create the article myself in the fear of being labeled as a pro-Nazi. Also, most of the researched I could find was original research. I'd like your thoughts on whether you think it should be created. Since there is articles for other Nazi propaganda pieces like Victory of Faith and Triumph of the Will, I think this should have one too. What's your thoughts? The general notability guideline calls for "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject", and I'm not seeing that when I look at Google. Comparing Riefenstahl's films, I am not seeing Victory of the Faith getting extensive coverage in books and periodicals, but Triumph of the Will certainly does. Regarding your reputation, no one will think you are pro-Nazi for specialising in this topic unless you start to slant your prose to indicate Nazi leanings or put such material on your user page. -- Diannaa (talk) 23:40, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

Kingsville Academy

What was the basis for deleting Kingsville Academy, and why was I not given any notice of its proposed deletion? In the case of the Seal of Chico, California, we are dealing with a government document source, and therefore there is no copyright violation at all. I see that you are working off of a computer generated list which consists basically of almost every contribution I have ever made. Perhaps we can work a little smarter if we were to communicate a bit here? Certainly, very few off of that list have any issues at all. Hi Gregbard. I have reviewed the instructions which appear at the top of each CCI case page, and it does not specify that the contributor should be notified when violations are found. While it's true that most of the diffs I have checked so far do not contain any copyright violations, there's many that I have been unable to resolve because there was no source provided at the time the content was added.

The source material for the Seal of Chico page was the website here, which is not a government of California website. The content was brought over unchanged, except the phrase "The Chico City Clerk reported ..." was not included. The Kingsville Academy page was taken verbatim from the page here (the first paragraph of prose, near the bottom of the page), omitting the phrase "by a number of public spirited men." -- Diannaa (talk) 23:05, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

Listen, it isn't too big a deal. Those particular articles were very short with the hope of later development. However, you can understand why I would be nervous when the computer has created such a long list of my contributions without any thought, and all of a sudden deletions are being done without notice. Both of those articles could have been salvaged without too much effort. I see that you have been making changes to many of them, which frankly, I don't believe are any risk in the least, but nonetheless, is appreciated for what it is worth. DYK Stats

Hi Diannaa, I was waiting to add Overlord to stats as "Because of the timing of the stats collection, nearly all hooks which exit the main page around 00:00 UTC get extra DYK views on the next day X+1; in this case views for two consecutive days (X and X+1) should be summed". Also, the calculation needed to remove background views cannot be done until todays stats are available, as "this page aims to list the views originating from the DYK section of the main page. Some articles draw additional views unrelated to DYK". So, we add the 6th and the 7th views, then minus 5th +8th views/2. Sorry if that was confusing... Thanks, Matty.007 12:14, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Anyway, in formal writing a subject and predicate are necessary-but-not-sufficient elements of a sentence: it must also be independent, able to stand alone. When the subject is a relative pronoun, for one common kind of exception, the would-be sentence is only a relative clause that must be appended to a main sentence. Which is not a sentence. For another, a verb in the infinitive or absolute form is not usually able to support a predicate. The sentence to be edited. I substituted a new isbn taken from amazon.com which did link through to a book on Book sources page via Worldcat. It was intended to be a constructive edit.

Access to academic resources (journals, etc) for Wikipedia editors

You have been very helpful to me in the past and I appreciate that. There is no rush in responding to this as I am editing less during Calgary's gardening season.

In order to manage bibliographic references when I was active in academia, I used EndNote. I think it would be so useful to have access to a similar technology for editors contributing regularly to wikipedia.

I believe you introduced me a another resource available to editors like myself you use academic peer-reviewed journals when editing Wikipedia articles. There was an application form of some kind and information about one's contributions was required. I would like to follow through with this and would appreciate any advice, suggestions and comments.

The "quote" is not really a quote, but a translation of a recording. The subject of the article is a recording. It would be meaningless to have a an article with that subject without the recording in words, and it would totally confusion, misleading, and un-understandable if only a few words or sentences were added. It's historically important to get the whole conversation. The translation is essentially the heart of the entire article. Don't you overall agree on this? I'm not quite sure what you mean. The article consisted of only two sentences: (a) "Legal moralism is the theory of jurisprudence and the philosophy of law which holds that laws may be used to prohibit or require behavior based on whether or not society's collective moral judgment is that it is immoral or moral." and (b) "Legal moralism implies that it is permissible for the state to use its coercive power to enforce society's collective morality." I do mine manually, but there's also automatic archiving available. There's instructions at User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo. MiszaBot is no longer active, and the actual archiving is now done by lowercase sigmabot III. You can also copy the mark-up for archiving from a user talk page that already has bot archiving (for example at User talk:Ninja Diannaa). The bot will automatically create the first archive for you. The Ribbon International

Thank you for your contributions and editing. The reason I was upset Tuesday night was due to just receiving one set of contributions Tuesday night that I spent 4 months trying to get from Marie Dennis Grassco, only to discover that the intro paragraph had been chopped in half, and deleted for which she had sent edits to apply. Numerous pages on Wiki have a description, an intro or a synopsis of the page. Anti-nuclear movement, Neuroglia, Subdural hematoma, Woodstock, March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom,

I was waiting for additional editing and copy to be emailed to add to the page, before I made additional edits. I also got turned off working on the page, due to all the negativity. I am also waiting on a professor in Mexico to finish her school year, to contribute information on the UNESCO event. I was keeping the page kind of wordy, to lengthen the copy, as I was hoping to add one or two additional photos with the additional copy, one being of a Noble Prize laureate with a ribbon panel from the UNESCO Mexico event. As you will notice, the Anti-nuclear movement page has 50 images and the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom has 12 images in the gallery. I would like to try and design a similar page like the Anti-nuclear movement to enable the addition of a few more photos. Marie is scanning a number of historical documents, hopefully to have some included on the page. "The Ribbon Route" map image is important, as it provides readers who have never been to the Washington, D.C. area, a visual display of "The Ribbon" route.

There is also a paragraph that was deleted, concerning the cold war and the nuclear arms race that was prominent in world at the time and played a crucial role in the creation of panels for "The Ribbon", according to Mary Frances Jaster. The "Article" section was also deleted that needs to be restored. In the "Videos" the last video was deleted with Host Judy Lerner, "Speaking of Women". Information concerning the Smithsonian Museum was deleted and needs to be restored. An introductory sentence for Justine needs to be restored, saying she was a grand mother, activist and was from Denver, CO, as there is nothing to designated her age, background or location, other than just being a body. The correct title for Pope John II, Pope Saint John Paul II needs to be restored, according to a priest with the Catholic church. I could continue, but it is time to work on other things. However, the people who have been working on it are experienced long-time Wikipedians who know how to create an article that meets our guidelines for content, style, sourcing, and formatting.

Discussions about what content should or should not be included in the article need to take place at the article talk page, not here. A couple of quick general points: All content in Wikipedia articles needs to be sourced to reliable third-party sources, such as books, newspapers, and magazines (Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources). Personal letters and emails and inaccessible documents are not considered reliable sources. I forgot to ask why you rewrote the page and did the edits, without first posting on the talk page or on my talk page, or giving me a chance to edit. I was waiting for additional edits and copy to be sent and added, before I did any more editing on the page. Also, there are numerous pages on Wikipedia that contain copy that is wordy for the page. What prompted you to rewrite the page? I was in the process of trying to find someone to help me with the layout, as there are a multitude of Wikipedia pages that have more images that what was on this page. Diannaa - Thank you for restoring the map on the page and all the coding. As for the length of The Ribbon. I think originally I had 18 miles for the length of The Ribbon, I then calculated how many yards in a mile to estimate the mileage. 15 Miles = 26,400 Yards / 18 Miles = 31,680 Yards. The 18 miles is way over the number of panels @ 36"/1 yard that were used or even available, it was then changed to 15 miles. Since the change I have spoken to three of the planners who also said 15 miles. About 27,000 panels were actually used, out of 30,000 panels. Every source has a different estimate for the length of The Ribbon. "As for the paragraph you removed saying I had copied the paragraph, which I did not do, I paraphrased the paragraph. I can put the two paragraphs on your talk page so you can see the comparisons side by side. In Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing, under the section "when there are a limited number of ways to say the same thing". I would like to restore the paragraph. Hello Susan. Please do not restore the paragraph. If you do so, you could be blocked from editing, because you would be knowingly adding copyright material to Wikipedia after having been warned not to do so. It is almost identical to a paragraph in the book; the wording is almost identical, and both convey exactly the same information in exactly the same order. That particular page is visible via Google. You could have asked me to get the page numbers. At least you sort of got a chance to see Linda's book. Regarding proper formatting of references, page numbers are not strictly required, but adding them adds to the ease with which other people can verify the content is present. Since this is a wiki, and different people bring different skill sets, it's not unusual for someone to come along and improve the page. In fact it's desirable, and it's how Wikipedia continues to get better. The material in the deleted paragraph is too long to insert as a quotation; adding it in that form would still be unacceptable. I will try to re-write it. Could you please make further comments about the article on the article talk page?
