Speedy deletion nomination of Lamiaspis

[edit]

Hello DinoLover4321,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Lamiaspis for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Nicky mathew (talk) 04:06, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You're invited to WikiProject Palaeontology!

[edit]

Hi DinoLover4321, thanks for your contributions. It looks like you could use some help with article development: very short articles with no citations or insufficient context can be problematic: see WP:IDEALSTUB for the bare minimum to shoot for. If you haven't already, please check out WikiProject Palaeontology and :WikiProject Dinosaurs, with lots of resources, templates, and tips for article development. You can ask specific questions on the project talk pages, or for more general questions on editing Wikipedia, check out the Teahouse, where experienced editors can help you out. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Coelodonta nihowanensis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. A tag has been placed on Palaeoloxodon melitensis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a specific animal, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Proposed deletion of Ordathspidotherium

[edit]

The article Ordathspidotherium has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. Google returns just 8 hits [1].

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Writing articles and citing sources

[edit]

Hi DinoLover4321. I'm sorry to see you've had a rough week, what with the 37 speedy deletion notices that you have received. I'm hoping that I can help you save some of your articles from deletion.

One way to improve your articles is say where you got your facts from. It is important to cite your sources by giving the name of the book or website you used during your research. Typically, Wikipedia editors add a hyperlinked footnote after each sentence, like this.[1] You can create a footnote with a citation template, which is a block of wiki-markup that you can use to quickly format a citation: <ref>{{cite web | last = | first = | authorlink = | coauthors = | title = | work = | publisher =| date =| url = | format = | doi = | accessdate = 6 June 2016 }}</ref>.

Citing sources is required because it helps prove that your facts are correct. It also allows other editors to verify what you write in articles—other editors can open the sources you provided and double-check your sentences. Another benefit is that citing sources makes expanding the article in the future easier, since other editors can build off of the sources listed on the page.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Wikipedia can be a confusing place at first because there are so many rules, but most editors here are willing to provide help if you just ask for it. Another place you can go ask for help is the Tea House, a forum for new editors. You have the potential to be a very useful contributor, so don't let all the deletion notices get you down. @Xx236: I think DinoLover4321 has got the point now - a lot of the most erroneous pages have been deleted or improved. In fact, the remaining pages are cited and correct - as Altamel has provided assistance above it would be best if you dropped your dispute and moved onto something else, otherwise you're just going to alienate a potentially useful contributor -- samtar talk or stalk 07:11, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Marine World Africa U.S.A., California. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Marine World/Africa USA. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Marine World/Africa USA – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. -- samtar talk or stalk 07:19, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please talk to us

[edit]

Hi DinoLover4321.

I'm Peter, a Wikipedia editor from Australia

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. But they are causing some problems.

Let's take "Alligator olseni" as an example.

When you started the "article" (as Wikipedia web pages are called) it just said "Alligator olseni is an extinct species of Alligator."

That was a good start. But it is better to say where you found the information straight away. That means other Wikipedia editors don't have to add that information for you.

Have a look at the article now: Alligator olseni. It includes the sources of the information, and information about when it it lived, where it lived and so on.

When you start articles, you should include information like that. If you don't know how, please let us know, and we can help you.

Please to talk to us. Let's start right here on your "user talk page".

Just one message from you would be great!
