Regarding edits to Suzanne Shell

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Dorothybaez! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule thetruthistold\.com, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links guidelines for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Thank you on behalf of Suzanne-Dorothy is another who needs watching.MMHen 01:28, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's nice that I'm important enough to warrant "watching." However, I would like to go on record as stating that the site thetruthistold.com is an appropriate addition to links regarding Suzanne Shell and her ongoing legal troubles.

However, since the Wikipedia editors have apparently made a decision not to include the above mentioned website on Wikipedia, I would like to suggest that Suzanne Shell's Profane Justice site be removed as well, as that site contains links to defamatory material, as well as copyrighted material nopt belonging to that site's owner.

Thank you very much.

(Mrs.) Dorothy Kernaghan-Baez

My userpage

[edit]

Was there any particular reason why you decided to revert the edit that I made to my userpage? IronGargoyle 21:56, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking around and came across your page and it had a long line of nonsense letters right in the middle. I was trying to get rid of that since it had been done by someone else.... I didn't think I had bothered anything that was supposed to be there!!!! Yikes! I'm so sorry! Dorothy Kernaghan-Baez

No worries. I was just curious. Best, IronGargoyle 22:25, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Woody Merry

[edit]

Hi Dorothy! I removed Woody because the entry was a redlink, Woody Merry. Basically, my thought was if he was notable enough for mentioning in that long list of linked folks, then he would have his own article. If he's truly notable, we can put him back and create an article for him. I'm trying to get Augusta, Georgia back to WP:GA status, and perhaps into WP:FA. I figured the less redlinks included, the better...;) – Dreadstar 00:05, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I wouldn't mind putting him back, just to even up the two columns...;) But I'd rather not put a glaring redlink in there if we can avoid it...perhaps we could create an article for him? – Dreadstar 00:07, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Woody Merry

[edit]

You know, I had never thought to do a page for him! He's not world famous, but he certainly is a notable local. I also need to add a link to the legal papers that were filed in Merry v. Williams (the lawsuit against the County Commission) since I added a sentence or two about it.  :)

Do you live in Augusta? I was born and raised here, moved away a few times, but I always seem to come back!

Dorothy Kernaghan-Baez

I'll be happy to help create an article for Woody! If you can find some reliable sources for it, we're on our way! I live in Florida, I ran across the Augusta article while fighting vandals. I visited Augusta when I was a teenager, but never lived in Georgia. – Dreadstar 00:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another article idea would be for the Springfield Baptist Church! – Dreadstar 00:17, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! I guess great minds think alike!!!! As much as I admire Woody I think Springfield needs to be first..... Dorothy Kernaghan-Baez
Cool! Before we acutally create the article, let's collect some sources and start writing it to at least get a sub article. If we put it too soon, it will probably be immediately put up for deletion.
I suggest we work in a sandbox, which I will create as a subpage to your userpage - if that's ok. Here it is: Springfield Baptist Church sandbox. – Dreadstar 00:54, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much!!!! I understand the concept of a sandbox, but I'm not sure how to change it to a regular article once we're finished.... But I'll jump off that bridge once we get to it, I guess! I believe my mother has a friend who is a member of Springfield....so I'll see what info I can get from her..... Dorothy Kernaghan-Baez
We can either move it or copy/paste it...it's easy... – Dreadstar 01:10, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Talkheader

[edit]

If you'll take a minute to read the instructions at Template:Talkheader, you'll see it says to only add the template when necessary, and in particular to not add it to empty pages. I would appreciate it if you could remove the talkheaders you recently added to empty talk pages. Thanks, Pagrashtak 21:23, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I added what I did in hopes that it would be a way of encouraging discussion on those particular topics. Especially on the dog articles, there is such a lack of reliable info....I'll be glad to change it back sometime this weekend, if there have been no entries.

Thanks!!! Dorothy Kernaghan-Baez 03:41, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That template isn't for promoting discussion. In fact, it's intended to restrict off-topic discussion. Pagrashtak 14:17, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 07:25, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tribute to "the Marine"

I would like to pay a small tribute in this edition to Tony "the Marine". Editing since May 24, 2004, he has been one of our project's most active editors and has become one of Wikipedia's most recognized writers. He has authored over 400 articles, including 4 Featured Articles, 1 Featured List, 10 Good Articles, and 28 DYKs. His name has appeared in newspapers and magazines and has been mentioned by politicians and artists. He has brought Puerto Rico's history and its people to the web. He has shown the world that Puerto Ricans have done much more than just be gangsters and drug dealers. He has shown the world that we have contributed to history and the world just as much as any other group of people.

On September 29, 2007, Tony announced that we would not be writing for Wikipedia anymore. We, the members of this project, are sad that he will not be able to continue to spread the word of Hispanics' contributions here on the web, but I, for one, feel honored that he has entrusted us with the duty of continuing and improving his excellent work.

Tony, rest assured that your contributions, your wisdom, and the help you provided to all of us when we were new users will be remembered for generations. Que Dios te bendiga, Tony, y que tu recompensa sea grande en el Reino de los Cielos.

Viva Puerto Rico libre. —Agüeybaná 16:52, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania 2008/Conference of the Americas

[edit]

Hello, As you may or may not know, Alexandria, Egypt was selected to host Wikimania 2008 [1]. So as to prevent the hard work of the many Wikimedians involved in the Atlanta bid from going to waste, we have decided to host a conference for the Americas. This is in no way an attempt to compete with Wikimania or make a statement against Wikimania.

As one of the people signed up to help with the Wikimania Atlanta bid, we hope you will join us at the Wikimedia Conference of the Americas. We will be having a meeting tonight in IRC tonight (Oct 15) at 9:30PM in #cota-atlanta on irc.freenode.org to discuss the conference. For more information about IRC see [2].

For more information about the Wikimedia Conference of the Americas see http://www.cota-atlanta.org and our wiki http://www.cota-atlanta.org/wiki.

If you do not wish to receive further notices about the COTA please remove your name from our notify list. --Cspurrier 18:13, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Cloacopapyrology

[edit]
I noticed this page at CAT:CSD, but it was deleted by another admin before I could respond. I looked at the external link you provided, and agree this was most definitely not vandalism. I doubt it was quite ready for prime time, and might not have enough reliable sources to ever be ready, but I could move it to your user space if you'd like, and you could flesh it out a little there, without the hassle of worrying about the next speedy delete tag. If so, just let me (or any admin) know. If it's not worth the hassle to you, that's fine too. In any case, I think you'd be quite justified in removing the template above; calling it "inappropriate" and a breech of "policy" is a little overboard. --barneca (talk) 21:08, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I got very frustrated when the page was deleted as I was working on it. Literally. I know the topic is a little odd.....but it definitely is legitimate. (I found a web site FILLED with advertisements for toilet paper from the 30's and 40's.) I came across the topic to begin with doing research on disinfectants.
I even put a note on the talk page to this effect.
I'm not sure what you mean by "removing the template." Are you talking about the comment left by the person who deleted the article?
Thanks again!
Dorothy
Dorothy Kernaghan-Baez (talk) 22:44, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I meant 2 things.
  1. If you'd like, I could undelete the page and move it to User:Dorothybaez/Cloacopapyrology, and you could work on it in peace.
  2. By "removing the template", I mean, no one will complain if you want to remove the big ugly warning that was left on your talk page right above us here.
Let me know about #1. --barneca (talk) 23:00, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, since I won't be around much in the near future, I'll just go ahead and WP:USERFY it for you now, at User:Dorothybaez/Cloacopapyrology. If you don't want it, it can be easily re-deleted at your request. Also removing the inappropriate template. --barneca (talk) 13:07, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thank you SO much for your help! Working on it in peace sounds great.  :) When I'm ready top resubmit it, is there anything I can do to keep it from getting deleted?
Thanks again!
Dorothy Dorothy Kernaghan-Baez (talk) 00:10, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"is there anything I can do to keep it from getting deleted?" The only thing I can do is cite a few policies at you, and let you read them, and then you can judge for yourself whether you think there's an article in there somewhere. The key to avoiding deletion would be to have muliple verifiable, reliable soruces. There's never any guarantee, unfortunately; deletion discussions can be something of a crapshoot. Having just the one external link you provided as a source would, if you want me to guess, probably result in the article being deleted at WP:AFD. Having more than one source meeting WP:RS would probably result in it surviving. Good luck. --barneca (talk) 13:15, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Saludos to all, I present to you the new version of our project's Newsletter. It has been almost a year since the last edition, but rest assured that we haven't been lazy. Flags and records

Greetings, during the past months, there has been a lot of activity and active discussion surrounding articles within our scope. Of particular interest is one that took place in Flag of Puerto Rico, in which several project members exposed their points of view regarding the tones of our flag. Ultimately, research brought forth a severe loophole in the regulation employed by the Senate of Puerto Rico. Our flag doesn't have official tones! Attempting to prevent future conflicts, I presented a proposal in the project's talk page. The subsequent discussion served as an perfect example of consensus. Thanks to everyone for your participation. In other news, our friend Tony the Marine added another impressive achievement to his brilliant resume. On December 8, 2008, his DYK hook for Ivan Castro (soldier) broke the previous all-time record for more views, receiving 71,300 visits. Tony has also been actively cooperating with this Newsletter, the inclusion of a new "Did you Know?" section, was entirely his idea. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:34, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:32, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
