Harp

Hello! Thanks for your compliments on my changes to harp. I will probably take another go at it sometime but I don't actually have that much time for Wikipedia at the moment so it's really just when I've got some spare time/can't sleep/need to relax. I once had the chance to do quite a bit of research on harps and have quite a bit of information about them stored in the cobwebby corners of my hard drive. I'll dredge some more of it up some time. Please don't delete red links

If you see a list of items in a page and some of them are red, please don't delete the red items. Red link means no further information is available in Wikipedia. Even if no further information is available about the item, the item should still be present in the list. Jonathan Ned Katz

Note from Jonathan Ned Katz, the historian. You deleted a large and important section of data from the entry about me that someone had begun. I think that is a major mistake since it is very useful for interested scholars to have as much detail as possible about a person, and an online encyclopedia does not have the space limitations that a printed version does. Here's what I said in the discussion secation of my entry.

Jonathan Ned Katz comments. Someone started this entry for me and I decided to fill it out to see what happened. I would like this to be an objective narrative of my work and life, and the fullest list available anywhere of my works and the life that made them possible.
This is an online encyclopedia, NOT a traditional biographical entry in a printed encyclopedia, therefore it does not have the same space limitations. It is very useful for scholars and anyone interested to have available as complete a list as possible of a scholar's works. That is what I have done on the entry for Allan Berube. So if you are going to delete portions of my works listed, you should also delete the full list of Berube's works. But I don't think you should do either.

Hi Dreamshade. I was doing some reputation management for a client and in doing so I used SEO Quake/Linx to investigate what was making the offending pages rank under my clients keywords. I noticed some inbound links from the social bookmarking article. I couldn't see that Wikipedia would be legitimately linking to a non notable companies ripoff report nor the sites which linked to the report. I noticed there seems a lot of vandalism of that article including what I guess are Bots. Anyway I noticed you removed links a couple of times for being spam. So, the sites I was investigating were all related to Ripoff Report and its owner. If you drop by seomoz.org you can check all the rogue seo techniques this site and its owner uses. I couldn't find the links from Wiki to their sites so I imagine they were removed at some point. However, it may be worth following these links to the end source.

Thanks a lot for your comment about "hemerographical". You're right: it doesn't exist in English. What I meant was "... to do some bibliographical research about some issues...", i.e., a research job in books, journals, newspapers, etc. It was a copy from Spanish "hemerográfica," which means "in newspapers and periodicals" and is different from "bibliográfica," which means "only in books."

Thanks for starting a list! I believe that it'd be good to consolidate the related items into fewer articles, at least until we gather enough material to support splitting them. For example, it's probably helpful to add material about Cold Spring Canyon to the bridge page at first, rather than asking readers to start looking between two short articles for context and details. And argh, sorry I haven't responded to your emails yet. My energy for Wikipedia things falls off somewhat when I get back to school, but it'll probably come back during other vacations. I've just now copied my list to put on my own Talk page, because changes there show up when I log in. That way you (or anyone else interested) can go there to suggest new topics or how to approach these. I like your idea of combining stuff into fewer topics, and CSCyn in particular might never rise to the level of needing its own page. UC Santa Barbara pictures

Hey, noticed that you were a student at UCSB and seem to put images onto Wikipedia. Lately I've been trying to edit a bunch of articles dealing with UC Santa Barbara, mostly athletic related, which were lacking pictures. Hi! The article for Magnolia (CMS) isn't particularly good or bad -- the tone and details are neutral-sounding, but the sources are somewhat weak and the article reads as a list of accomplishments instead of a more balanced narrative-style article. I don't think it's high-quality enough yet to remove the notes on top of the article, but if some other Wikipedia editor took up an interest in the article, it could be improved sufficiently. I revised the article to be more balanced after reading the COI and neutral point of view guidelines and added it to the talk page of the article for review and suggestions. Could you take a look and see if this is better/neutral enough to remove the "advertising" note? I haven't yet added the citations, so please let me know if you would want to have those in place before reviewing it and I'll add them in. I'm not sure if I should also post on the COI Noticeboard to have others review it and remove the COI tag, so please could you advise what the correct practice is. Many thanks.
