Welcome![edit]

Hello, Drrbuba, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Wikigyt@lk to M£ 13:57, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from URL http://www.corehumanitarianstandard.org/files/files/Core%20Humanitarian%20Standard%20-%20English.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Copyright violation[edit]

Changing a word or two doesn't mitigate the copyright violation. You are copying whole passages. Are you familiar with tne term "close paraphrasing " and why it's not OK here? Please engage with me and Wikicology. Brianhe (talk) 14:46, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Brianhe: I'd love to engage with you guys but a speedy deletion request puts a lot of pressure on me and doesn't leave me time to engage with you at all. Frankly, speedy deletion requests are aggressive and not constructive at all. The page could be gone any second. How's this a constructive approach? I really don't get that. Also, close paraphrasing is not a copyright infringement from a legal perspective, or is it? I'm not a lawyer. Thanks Drrbuba (talk) 14:49, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for discussing. There's a guideline, Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. The reason we speedied the article was because it was nothing but close paraphrasing or simple cut/paste of the source document. Policy is to delete such immediately. Copyright is taken very seriously on Wikipedia. — Brianhe (talk) 14:54, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • To connote to Brianhe (talk · contribs)'s comment, Wikipedia takes Copyright infringement very seriously and close paraphrasing is strongly discouraged. Although there are a few specific situations when close paraphrasing may be permitted. Close paraphrasing may be permitted if information is gathered from the public domain or is free use content. The content that was copied is non-free content and the extent of copy/paste is too obvious to ignore. Wikigyt@lk to M£ 15:59, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • To add another voice: yes, close paraphrasing is copyright violation. Copyright is a very serious worry for Wikipedia, and a great deal of effort, by automatic systems as well as human volunteer patrollers, goes into detecting and deleting violations. Speedy deletion is mandatory, we cannot allow infringing text to linger for discussion. For more detail, see Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources and Wikipedia:Copyrights#Contributors' rights and obligations. JohnCD (talk) 20:32, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

Since I had very similar conversations with new user Aidepikiw2003 (talk) yesterday (see his talk page and User talk:JohnCD#CHS alliance), it is clear to me that you are also employed by or connected with the CHS Alliance. If Aidepikiw2003 had passed on to you what I told him yesterday, it might have saved you from making the same mistakes. To explain again...

Wikipedia is not here to provide a platform for organizations to tell the world about themselves. User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard provides some background. If you want to write about your organization here, you need to observe our rules and standards.

In writing about CHS Alliance or its affairs you have, from Wikipedia's point of view, a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and you should carefully read that page and the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Note in particular that:

  • You are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use ("Paid contributions without disclosure" under section 4), to disclose your interest in any edits where you have a COI. As noted just above the "Save page" button, by clicking it you accept the ToU.
  • You should not edit or post articles directly about subjects where you have a COI, but may make suggestions on article talk pages, and may submit draft articles via the Wikipedia:Articles for creation system, for review by an uninvolved user.

You should not think of yourself as writing for the organization, but as writing for Wikipedia about the organization, from outside.

Wikipedia is quite selective about article subjects. The test for inclusion is called Wikipedia:Notability and has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. See also WP:Notability (summary). This test applies to non-profits and good causes, too.

There is good advice at WP:Your first article and WP:Writing better articles. JohnCD (talk) 20:32, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Article moved to draft[edit]

In view of your COI, I have moved the article CHS Alliance to Draft:CHS Alliance. This is actually to your advantage, because by submitting it you can get feedback to help you improve it, whereas if posted directly to the main space it might be nominated for deletion.

The green "Submit" button will send it for review when it is ready, and an experienced user will either accept it or give you feedback. You would do well to try to find additional independent references; while the Guardian one is good, but (in my opinion) the Reliefweb ones are so like the Alliance's own literature that they seem to be based on press releases or direct briefing.

If you prepare a new version of the Standard article, a good way to make a draft page is by clicking on Help:Userspace draft and filling in the title. JohnCD (talk) 20:44, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:CHS Alliance[edit]

Hello, Drrbuba. It has been over six months since you last edited your Articles for Creation draft article submission, "CHS Alliance".

In accordance with our policy that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. 1989 (talk) 16:17, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
