A tag has been placed on LNESC, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of LNESC and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bearian (talk) 16:14, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism levels; Status message

Well, if you look at the source of my userpage, you'll see this:

{{user:M1ss1ontomars2k4/Status}}{{Wdefcon}}

The second transclusion is the transclusion to the Vandalism Level thingy. The first transclusion trancsludes user:M1ss1ontomars2k4/Status, which is where I set my status. On that page, you will find:

{{User:M1ss1ontomars2k4/Status2|away}}

The second part is my status, of course. The first part refers to User:M1ss1ontomars2k4/Status2, which contains the code for making the status message.

As for where I got these things, I really don't remember. The status message is apparently copied from User:Pegasus. The Vandalism Level I probably got from another RC Patroller. --M1ss1ontomars2k4 (talk) 04:37, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. Specifically, you copied the contents of One Dallas Center. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming an article is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Recent Reversions and Warnings

Alas! Behold! I am an idiot for making mistakes! Everyone cast your stones upon me for trying too hard to make Wikipedia a better place for guys like 75.14.222.80 and everyone else!

Some of the IP edits you have recently reverted and have given warnings to the IP user for, seem at the least to have been good faith edits on their part if not actual improvements to the article. Eg: [1] IP removing duplicated MBE reference, [2] the Stephen Fry quote might not be capable of being properly sourced, but its certainly widely acknowledged eg- [3] and re New Jersey Devils [4] edit by the IP would appear to be correct [5]. Could you please review these and any similar warnings you have given. Just because edits are by IP does not mean they are vandalism, and anyway don't bite the newbies... :) -Hunting dog (talk) 21:04, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

ECDSA

Could you go into more detail about how an article on EC-DSA has to be spam? It isn't a commercial product, it's an encryption standard. There's nothing to spam; it's a scholarly subject that has been discussed in CS, encryption and mathematics circles. Celarnor Talk to me 06:02, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

I just noticed that the current revision has 2 external links to proprietary implementations of ECDSA; are those the reasons that you nominated it for deletion? If so, you'll probably want to look at DEL and BEFORE; knowing that material will help you avoid AfDs for articles that don't belong at AfD in the future; if you believed that those links were problematic (which they really aren't; they provide evidence of commercial implementations of a given open standard, which is fairly regular practice in articles like this). Naval Mine

I'm surprised that you reverted my edits re. naval mine - which were only visible when someone tried to insert incorrect information. My edits certainly weren't vandalism. I was amused that you think I care about having a large number of edits to my name. For the record, whether I've done 20, 200 or 20 billion edits makes absolutely no difference whatsoever to me. Why you think I'd care about the number of edits I've made is beyond me. Who-did-the-most-edits is strictly for schoolkids.

For the record, I made those edits to the naval mine article to prevent people inserting incorrect information in the belief that it's actually correct. People do that a lot when they see the spelling "fuze" in an item. Some people think that mines have "fuses" when in fact they don't. Fireworks have FUSES and you light them with a match. Mines (and other military weapons have FUZES - which are much more complex devices i.e. contain mechanical and/or electronic components. Fuses will simply burn, whereas fuzes can contain mechanisms which are specifically designed to kill anyone who tries to tamper with the munition or disarm it i.e. an anti-handling device. The dirty little secret of modern sea mines is that some of the fuzes contain anti-handling devices.

So, there's a difference between a fuse and a fuze. The people who mistakenly refer to a mine fuze as being a "fuse" are invariably those who have never served in the armed forces and have never actually held on in their hands. They automatically assume that the term "fuze" is a misspelling, whereas in fact it's a correct and highly specific descriptor. Such people leap in, thinking they're "correcting" a mispelling, whereas in fact they're introducing ambiguity and confusion.

The bottom line is you have now reverted my technically correct version (complete with hyperlinks to the appropriate item) back to an incorrect version. Nice work!

I take that as a legal threat. My educational attainment is none of your concern. I have chosen to display it because I am proud of my work as a Wikipedian at my school level. On the surface, it doesn't appear to be a "legal threat", in the strictest sense. It is however highly inappropriate and downright rude. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it said "I am taking you to court" that would of course be a different matter altogether. I'm removing the "help" message, feel free to readd it if you would like someone else to look at this. The least you could do here is provide a "See Also" link to the article you said already includes the section you deleted. Well, though WP:BIO says because he's a MLB player, he's notable, it didn't exactly explain his notability. I'm trying to find the way to explain it. ——Mr. E. Sánchez Wanna know my story?/ Share yours with me! 02:35, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
It does not have to do so. A article passes speedy delete as long as it makes any claim whatsoever to importance. You may take the article to AFD if you choose, but I think it will be very strongly kept there immediately. It is also possible that you may be considered disruptive, because there is a very strong and very clear consensus that all major league players--even if they played for 1 part of an inning in 1 game, are notable. There's some discussion about minor league players, but the basic guideline is that full time professional players at the highest level of their sport are unquestionably notable--per WP:ATHLETE. The argument is that they will always have sufficient references in the press to show it. If you want to be helpful, go find some and add them. But I very strongly advise you not to make any further nominations such as this.DGG (talk) 02:44, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Incidentally, about some of your other speedy tags: 1/All towns and villages are notable for the purposes of Wikipedia; though it is sometimes contested, it remain the consensus. 2/all buildings on the register of historical places and the equivalents in other countries are unquestionably notable 3/See WP:STUB about the minimum about of information for an article in WP. WP:BITE and templating concerns

While I have had a runin with Einsteindonut, I don't see vandalism here, or in any other edit he made at the JIDF article. I see a content dispute, in which you were a participant. In such cases, it's not appropriate to drop a vandalism template on a new editor. Accusing someone of vandalism is quite a serious charge, and you seem to have made it during the midst of a simple content dispute. I respectfull ask you to consider not doing this in the future. If Tesco (for example) can have a space on wiki, then so should we since we have charitable aims and Tesco never has.

So Mr Sanchez, how can I violate my own copyright for Tutor4u? Please explain this as this interests me.

If you still believe you are right, then why isn't Tesco marked for speedy deletion and violating copyright!!!!

Mr Z L Jolin CEO of Zeejays Group of Companies and all subsidarys/Chairman of Zeejays Group of Companies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ZeejaysUK (talk)20:00, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

First of all, when writing on my talk page, please sign your comments with ~~~~.
Now, first of all, let's look at your text here: "we have decided that we need to advertise on the net, like here.". Let's start off by reading this. *Did you read it?* There's a part there that says we are not your advertising venue. Wikipedia is not a free advertising place. Never was. Is not. Never will be.
Second point. How do I know you own it? For all you know, I could own so many companies around the world. Point being: I can't verify you are the chairman, owner, outrights holder, or anything else.
Third point. Any article introduced as a copy of another website (in this case, the Bot identified it as a copy of http://tutor4u.me.uk/aboutus.html ) is considered a copyright violation on Wikipedia, regardless of who owns the webpage.
And, as for Tesco, if you say it's advertising, you are more than welcome to tag it with {{db-spam}} for an administrator to look at.
Does this answer your question? ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 20:03, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

I just looked at Tesco, and it is a notable company, giving correct citations, history, and net worth. It is not an advertisement in any way. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 20:05, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

RE: How can I violate a copyright I own? II

Mr Sanchez,

1st - When you surpass me, Ill sign. Until then, put up with it 2nd - Why should I listen to a High School Student! 3rd - Millions of companies create encyclopediac pages to explain their charity aims 4th - I have already contacted wikipedia about this and talked to them 5th - I don't have to prove I own Zeejays GoC. I do, and I know (by being the owner) the owner opperates civil recovery for inapporiate use of the companies name. 5th - I like the way you argue the imposible, you would make a valuble asset. What are your career aims?

Mr Z L Jay —Preceding unsigned comment added by ZeejaysUK (talkcontribs) 20:17, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Sir, I am asking you once again to sign your comments on my talk page. It is not a matter of hierarchy or rank (surpass you?), but of policy.
Even if I am in high school, I am following policies as an editor on this project. It's not about "listening to me", but to take my advice as an experienced editor on Wikipedia. I am only trying to help you and your article.
True, companies have encyclopedic pages. They are not necessarily created by the company owners. (I'm sure Bill Gates didn't build the one about Microsoft.)
What do you mean you "talked to Wikipedia"? There is no such thing!
I'm not asking for proof. If you really were an owner of any company, you'd spell "encyclopediac", "opperates", "inapporiate", "imposible", and "valuble" correctly.
Nuclear physics is my major, thanks for asking.
Will we be civil now, "Mister"? ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 20:24, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

We never where uncivil. My major is business studies and economics, not spelling. I need not know how to spell, I have staff to do that for me. Also why is my article marked for deletion. I spoke to an editor of wikipedia who I know well, just FYI. He suggested doing it this way. ZeejaysUK (talk) 20:46, 31 August 2008 (UTC)Zjay - Happy

I'm not going to question your spelling capabilities.
Your article is being considered for deletion because it is a blatant copyright violation of Wikipedia policies from the webpage http://tutor4u.me.uk/aboutus.html and details the workings of a non-notable organization. It was originally marked for speedy deletion, but User:ZeejaysUK reintroduced the text, making it once again a violation of Wikipedia policies. You are welcome to comment on the deletion consideration. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 21:12, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Note - I have blocked User:ZeejaysUK as an inappropriate username, and speedy deleted their article as spam / non-notable. Black Kite 23:22, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

CSD tag on Terry N. Taylor

Hey there. I advise you now to reinstate CSD tags that a neutral third editor has removed (i.e. me in this case). The article Terry N. Taylor might fail WP:N but WP:CSD#A7 is not a criteria to correct this. For A7 to fail, it is enough that the article claims a reason for notability and the article does so. Consider WP:PROD or WP:AFD to get such articles deleted. But consider that such fast deletion-tagging might bite newcomers and scare them from making further contributions. Have a nice evening :-) SoWhy 21:16, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

I just saw you wrote me, when I was done writing this. Glad we had this sorted. As I wrote above, be careful with CSD#A7 :-) SoWhy 21:18, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Workafrolic

I apologize for submitting what appeared to be a dictionary reference and blatant advertising.

This term, first coined by Richard St John in his presentation to TED, and now being used by others such as Leigh St John (I thought this interesting as I understand they are no relation) is starting to gain wide-spread interest.

In today's changing world where we have people such as Timothy Ferriss promoting "The 4 Hour Work Week" and how we can be millionaires in only a few hours a week - the notion of a "workafrolic" and that you can do what you love, work a lot of hours and still be living your dream life is a trend that is worthy of being cited in this encylopedia.

I did not mean to offend nor promote any business nor person.

re the daas beer page

Hi, I wanted to make an informative article...

If article about single companies are truly not allowed, how about:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E.ON

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Beer_Company

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mcdonalds

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walt_Disney_Company

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Motor_Company

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Broadcasting_Company

I do not want to break the terms of Wiki, but it really does seem like having an entry for single companies is allowed, or is it only appropriate when the company is a multinational?

There are pages about other beer companies on wiki, and about other companies.

I am not trying to be annoying, I just want some clarification about what is, and what is not allowed. So, how come pages are not allowed that hold information about single companies, except the companies listed above? - There are many more examples on Wiki too. I just want to be sure so that I don't break any of the terms in the future.

I will remove the page now (Am i able to do that?) - Is there any way I can re-work it to be acceptable?

Mike —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kingpin77 (talkcontribs) 18:12, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

First of all, please be sure to sign your comments using ~~~~ (four tildes) when commenting on talk pages.
Secondly, those companies are what Wikipedians call "Notable". This means that they have contributed something that makes them worth inclusion in an encyclopedia. To directly answer your question: no, the company does not have to be a multinational corporation to be included, only that it has received recognition by third parties. Read that article about notability for more information.
Another rule of thumb is to be neutral; that is, not write in a partial tone or be in conflict of interest. For example, I shouldn't write an article about something that I stand strongly for, as I'll probably write it in MY point of view, or for a company I created or work for, as I'd be in Conflict of Interest.
There's not much you can do to make the article not "break the rules" if it's not notable.
I see you introduced the article twice and removed the SPEEDY tag. Please don't do this. It will only give other editors reason to block you and it's a violation of our editing policies. Happy editing! ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 05:53, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Need an opinion

Heya ESanchez013!

I have been having a problem with User talk:24.184.206.83.

I was under the impression that the IP was a shared IP, and restored some warnings on the page which I have seen done before .... The editor who owns the IP left a nasty note on my talk page. I deleted it as "nonsense" in my edit summary. I went and checked relevant policy (which is a little grey), but erring on the side of caution, it turns out that editors can lay claim to owning shared IPs and delete almost any material they want. I was getting ready to apologize when I got another angry message left for me, directing me to a message on this editor's talk page. He left a message calling me a hypocrite.

My understanding of WP:CIVILITY is that editors can make comments on the edit, but not the editor. I think this statement is in violation of WP:CIVILITY, but want to be cautious about escalation. I am asking for an opinion. All I want his this editor's name calling removed, and to no longer associate with them. Apology is no longer an option because he has banned me from posting on his page, and to do so otherwise would constitute harassment. This editor's behavior has been very pushy (as you have noted). LonelyBeacon (talk) 16:01, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

He seems to be a little uncivil; he's being careful though. I think you should report him to admins if this keeps up. I've left him a little note just telling him (again) to be civil.

Looks like you and me both have been victims of uncivility recently (see the Journaldiction?). Thanks for asking my opinion; hope this helps! ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 17:03, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

I appreciate the counsel. I really just want it to end, and the editor has prevented me from doing such. LonelyBeacon (talk) 17:09, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
E,
I've been editing, but I just caught the crossfire between you and this anon. I appreciate your getting involved, but I don't think its worth it. I'm going to issue the apology. He will turn me over for harassment, and I will likely get a 24 hour block. It's clear this won't end until that happens. I hoped he/she would drop it. It has not been dropped. So be it. I was looking for some advice, and I feel bad that you have gotten involved in this. LonelyBeacon (talk) 22:48, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
LOL, getting involved is no problem. He's not causing me any trouble. I really don't think you're harassing anyone either. Let's be the mature editors and ignore it all. Sometimes, that fixes things, ja? ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 22:54, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
P.S.: It's WP, for goodness' sake! Why argue it to the bone?! And, us, too: we shouldn't let it bother us! I reviewed some of you edits (hope you don't mind) and can safely say you're no vandal. Thanks for helping the project!
I appreciate the kind words. I can take it. I just don't like to see my problems spill over to anyone else. I'm glad this isn't affecting you at all. LonelyBeacon (talk) 23:03, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Just Stop

Stop trying to shut DJ Warrior's page down, stop trying to attack my entry, which is now getting personal, as it does not make any sense that you would continue to attack it as it is 100% OFFICAL. I have requested to wikipedia that you not be allowed to do this anymore to credible pages. Now please, leave me alone, leave my entry alone, and let it do what it do, as anyone else who has knowledge on the entertainment industry and urban entertainment industries know who DJ Warrior is. Thank you. --Journaldiction (talk) 19:33, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Please don't post this stuff about it being "personal" and that you requested Wikipedia that I do whatever. Please be civil! PUT NEW MESSAGES AT THE END OF THE TALK PAGE AND NOT IN BETWEEN NEW MESSAGES!. I don't want to be pushed. I'm being really nice and do not want you to be blocked or my credibility as an editor to be damaged. I haven't edited anything else on your article! Please check the article's history and see who's been editing before judgment. Also, I haven't been active in the AFD since the comment and nomination. You coming to my talk page and attacking me like this is highly unorthodox and simply mean.
I want to let you know a few things in the event that I haven't let you know this before (and this is just to help you out):
1) You wrote the article and then said that you are a partner of his. Under Wikipedia policy, this is called Conflict of Interest. You are partial in your writing.
2) The article reads like a magazine or promotion. That's against Manual of Style, yet another Wikipedia policy.
3) I have been really nice. You say that I've been trying to delete it so badly like I had a grudge on the subject? There's two things I did: Nominate for speedy, which was declined, and then AFD nomination. THAT'S IT!. I've never even heard of the guy before you brought an article here. I love to see new WP articles, because I know we're helping this great project! Unfortunately, this one article just isn't working yet. I don't deny he's a cool guy and a great artist, but there's issues with the article.
4) Please don't take this personally. When my first article was deleted, I was heartbroken! I thought that the editor was just a big mean dude and I also said bad stuff about him on my talk page. But as I looked at his edits, I saw that he was helping. My article was wrong. It was advertisement by definition.
5) You're the first guy I had this problem with. Thank you, despite all the issues. You are helping me to be a better editor.

I hope you stop attacking me. Let others have a say on that article. Thanks for using Wikipedia! ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 06:02, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Soycaca (talk) 19:21, 16 September 2008 (UTC)September 16th, 2008

Hey, I did not mean to "advertise" for NSLS, but merely to warn college students that this is a FOR-PROFIT corporation and that their interest is primarily to make $, not necessarily to help college students out. I'm just not the best with writing...

I'm sorry if I'm sounding like a bully in any way.
Even good faith contributions can be non-notable. Unfortunately, we can't accept an article that is in good faith trying to warn others of a scam. It was written in the way of an advertisement that promoted a group, and without notability. If you have reliable sources for this group, you can submit your article again (with correct manual of style and citations) or ask for someone else to write it for you (since I take it you probably had contact with these "scammers" and you might be a little biased on the matter, or even a conflict of interest). Please tell me if you need more explanation. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 19:33, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

In regard to this article, while I understand your desire to delete it, can you find a better rationale than "nonsense"? The article is perfectly coherent; it's just unnecessary. I can't justify deleting it as nonsense, but if there were a better reason to delete it than that, I might be able to delete it. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 02:55, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Indeed, it seems you tagged for CSD despite there being an assertion of notability. And while you did attempt to communicate after he removed the CSD tag, it would have been clearer without the red bar. I would have added the hangon tag and left a clear note telling the creator that I had done so and asking him to not remove the CSD tag. And you had the courtesy to add an AFD notice. That I like. I would suggest doing a Google News search before tagging. Many new users don't make it easy to see notability and verifiability. Sometimes they need our help. Hey, sorry about getting off on the wrong foot. Thanks for editing on the article, it was a big help, by the way I moved the entry to DJ Warrior instead of Dj warrior because of the lower case, then just noticed you moved it to his real name, haha. Speedy deletion

I noticed that you tagged the page SS Princess Isabella for speedy deletion with the reason "it is a fictional item that lacks recognition for inclusion". However, "it is a fictional item that lacks recognition for inclusion" is not currently one of our criteria for speedy deletion, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. I wish we could, but we can't or they'll tag it for {{db-repost}}. What we can do next is just request for someone to make it. The AFD for DJ Warrior was closed because majority said delete. I'm sorry that this happened. Once again, we can request it (and more than likely, someone besides us since I'll more than likely be considered a non-neutral party to this, and you once stated that you're his partner, so they'll say you're COI-ing) and an admin may be able to recall the text. ←Signed:→Mr. E.
