A tag has been placed on Iron Mask (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Comment on the AfD, above

[edit]

Hi, Dzimozz. Noticed your responses on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Iron Mask (band) - I have to admire your zeal on this. :-) One thing of note, though, is a concern I have about this band - a seeming lack of reliable sources, on a cursory Google search. (Please refer to that link for details.) The trick to getting this article kept is not a profound number of brief reviews or magazine blurbs, but what amounts to what we consider to be notable - you'll find the guidelines for this at this link. Equally important, though, is that they can be verifiable. I have no doubt that Iron Mask are good - but if you can properly demonstrate the notability, you'll get a keeper and change people's minds.

Also, I'd encourage you to take a look at WP:AFD, and in addition, go check out WP:CHILL - and relax a little! :-) While the issue is not (generally) considered resolved until about a week from now (or earlier, if the improvements are sufficient), you won't need to constantly bombard the discussion with commentary or links.

Finally, I again encourage you to get the sources you need for this article. Don't want to see an article go, but unfortunately, if it doesn't meet our criteria, it would have to wait until later.

Good luck.

Oh! One last link to look at is WP:MUSIC - our notability guidelines for music in general. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 20:55, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I'm keeping this part off of the AFD page, as I don't want to bring this up there. To be honest, you're treading close to what we call wikilawyering, and this is bad form. It's granted we make mistakes once in a while, but this article probably won't stand as it is. To be blunt, posting all this data that we can't use is not going to fix the problems in the article, and won't help your case - fixing the article, however, will. You're going to be much better off fixing the article and post a brief announcement that issues have been fixed, and let us review them when you post accordingly. Like that list of web sites - fifty web address that are nothing more than the FQDN, for instance, don't help to establish notability. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 00:09, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iron Mask

[edit]

helpme Hi, guys! Tnx for your attention & sympathy! Hereby I would like to ask the experienced wikipedians for help. I did my best to make all the necessary corrections for the artile 'bout Iron Mask. But probably, I didn't catch all the ideas, that administrator tried to deliver me. So please, provide me an advice or anything like that in order to ensure, that finally Iron Mask (band) will be a part of this amazing world of Wikipedia!Dzimozz (talk) 05:49, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It would help if the article was neutral, and based on facts from true reliable sources - examples;

 • Musically Iron Mask will appeal to fans of Rainbow... - this is a matter of opinion, not a fact
 • this album represents melodic, epic neo-classic metal with a symphonic touch - definitely not neutral!
 • sensitive lyrics, more epic lyrics - strong, non-neutral claims with no reliable source to support them

In addition,

 • The 'Discography', 'Current Lineup' and 'Former & Guest Members' sections have no references at all. If these cannot be verified, they should be removed. It is especially important not to name individuals if their names are not well-known; see WP:NPF
 • I'm not convinced by any of the references used; I'm not sure, but they don't look like reliable sources to me - do they really have a 'reputation for fact-checking and accuracy' and 'editorial control' as per WP:RS? I'd really expect to see coverage in published newspapers or something. It does need to show "significant coverage in reliable sources" (general notability guidelines).

Mostly, whether or not something can be considered a 'reliable source' or not is common sense - would you trust the facts? If you are not sure though (about some specific site) you could always ask on the reliable sources noticeboard.

Apart from that, all you can do is wait and see what others comment in the 'article for deletion' discussion; what the consensus is. From a quick look, I'd think it might be difficult to show true notability, and that isn't something that you or I can fix - it requires those independent reliable sources - see WP:VRS for a simplification of the idea.

As explained on the discussion - it will remain in place for at least seven days, at the end of which, someone will try to decide the consensus - mostly, whether the band meets the notability requirements. If it is deleted, then it should be possible to get a copy in your userspace, and if you could later add more references to reliable sources, you could ask if it is appropriate to make live again; the important thing to remember is, there is no deadline - no hurry. If the band is not currently notable, then you might have to wait until it gets more coverage. And important to note, it is the band - the subject of the article - that must have significant coverage...that is, articles about the band, in the press. The fact that some members may be notable is not helpful; notability is not inherited.

Hope that helps a bit, anyway. Cheers, and best of luck.  Chzz  ►  06:14, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tnx a lot! I've already made some corrections according to Your advice!))) The administration said, that I have a week to make all the neccesary corrections. If not, they gonna delete it((((((((((( So, I would be grateful fir help in finding those reliable sources, 'cause you know, I'm not VERY expirienced in english (I live in Belarus), and now unfortunately I'm not able to differ these reliable sources from the others. Thanks anywaY!))) And by the way, in the article I provided the references, that other users advised me and that they considered these references to be reliable. Of course, it would be sad, if the article will be deleted, but anyway I will tell the guys form Iron Mask, that I did everything possible. Tons of TNX!)) DzimOZZ) 18:37, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Just a note - it is more important that you spend time working on the article and trying to fix it, rather than explain to us ad nauseam why this article is notable. The community will ultimately reach consensus on whether it is to be kept. In short - excessive explanations are not necessary, and really don't help the case. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 22:12, 25 July 2010 (UTC)`[reply]

 • Just a note here. I've gone ahead and deciced that the best course of action for Iron Mask would be to do what we call a userfy - basically, we move it into your user space so you can work on it without interference of threat of deletion. In a best case, this allows you to work on the article as stated, and in the process, you'll be able to put some extra polish on it so it can get up to the standards we will hold it to. The foreseeable side effect is that you'll be able to learn what we seek in articles, and put that enthusiasm of yours to some good use. =) --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 14:37, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iron Mask (Band) was userfied

[edit]

The article has been moved to your user space at: User:Dzimozz\drafts\Iron Mask (band) for further improvement per my decision at the AfD. Good Luck with it and stick to it.--Mike Cline (talk) 13:22, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the thanks. When you believe you have the article in a state that conforms to WP guidelines. (Make sure you involve experienced editors in this type of subject matter in that decision), I'll be happy to help you move the article in the WP mainspace. Take your time. Review comparable articles to see how they are put together and sourced. If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask. --Mike Cline (talk) 15:10, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iron Mask (Band) question

[edit]

Dzimozz - On the surface, I think the situation you describe with Radio Minsk and Iron Mask meets the criteria for item 1.11 of WP:NM. I think the question will arise as to whether Radio Minsk a major radio network. The MassaBrutto source seems to say it is. That said however, I am no expert on music issues on WP so I would like to make the following suggestion to you. Ask this same question on one or both of the following WikiProjects talk pages: Wikipedia:WikiProject Rock music and Wikipedia:WikiProject Metal. I am not sure which is the most appropriate project for the Iron Mask band. Project members will be very familar with the notability guidelines and give you good advice. I have two other tiny procedural pieces of advice: 1) When you want to ask a question as you did on my talk page, I find it best to raise the question very early in the paragraph so the reader knows why all the information is there. You left your question to the end, which left me (the first time through) unsure of what was being discussed. 2) When adding to an ongoing discussion, intent your comments using ** or :: based on the indentation of the previous comment. This makes individual comments standout and easily attributable to the contributor.

Example: This is an indented comment
Example: If you commented here you would indent with two ::

You are on the right track. Keep working at it and get the music projects to help. As always, don't hesitate to ask about any WP policies or guidelines. I will try to help if I can.--Mike Cline (talk) 13:11, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iron Mask (Band) You're getting close

[edit]

Dzimozz - Looks like the article is coming along nicely. Seems like you got some good advice from the Metal project. You don't need permission or approval when you want to recreate the article, but for the ease of things, I'll help you move it over when its ready. Here's a couple of additional things I'd like you to review and consider:

 1. Please read WP:MOS and WP:LEAD and ensure the article is complying with the details. I learn something everytime I read these things. The closer you get the article to these MOS criteria, the better it will be.
 2. Take a look at WP:Cite to ensure your citations are formatted properly. I think most of the current citations list the website as author when in fact the website is the publisher.
 3. Finally, create the talk page for the article--Discuss this page-- by adding the appropriate projects and a section explaining why you think the subject is notable and what changes you've made since the last AfD. We will move the talk page along with the article when the time comes.

The most important thing to remember is this. Nothing can keep an article from being nominated for deletion, so don't be discouraged if it gets nominated again. I think the measures you've taken to improve the article make it an unlikely candidate for deletion and even if it was nominated, it will most likely be kept. Keep up the good work.--Mike Cline (talk) 14:25, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Per your request I moved the Iron Mask article into the main article space. Thanks for your good work. Please stay engaged in the project metal project to improve this article as well as other areas you are interested in. Thanks for your contributions.--Mike Cline (talk) 22:37, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iron Mask (band) Categories??

[edit]

Dzimozz, I forget to suggest that you need to add some appropriate categories to the article. I thought about doing it, but just don't know enough about the subject to look them up. --Mike Cline (talk) 14:12, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Categories are added to the article at the end of all the text. Take a look at the article: Magic Kingdom (band) which you linked to in the Iron Mask article. At the top of the page, you see 5 categories listed (explore those). To include your article in a category just add the category link at the end of the article. Below are listed the categories from Magic Kingdom:

You can add as many categories as is appropriate for the article. (don't add the NoWiki, that's just so these don't display from here).

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:53, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
