Hi there,

could you please suply a source for Image:Tsigganes-Greek Gypsies.jpg? If you do not edit that image and write down an adress where you got that image from, it will be deleted, and that would be very bad since the photo is great! Please, just add an address where you got that image from --Dijxtra 11:20, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have the same question, please answer quick. If you presice the source or the license, we'll have the possibilities to copy this very very nice pictures to commons or french wiki to illustrate our article 'Rroms'. Thanks for your quick answer. jonathaneo
I see you just reuploaded the file. You need to click on the edit button on top of this page and then write where you got that photo from. --Dijxtra 21:12, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I also hold the same petition. The image is great, but if it get's deleted I'll have to upload one of Spanish gypsies which is not nearly as nice as yours!!! Villodre 00:35, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fortunatly I've guessed that the image would be deleted, so I've download in my office so if you find the license, it wil be possible to republishing this. Thanks.jonathaneo

Yasou! I agree with the previous two posters - your image is great, AND we are having very big problems with some crazy guy (IP user, of course) who keeps taking it down - claiming "not verifiable". Since you posted the image here (and Mik, from the Greek wiki, says he got it from the English wiki), could you please let us know some background info on the picture, i.e. when and where it was taken, if you know that three girls in the photo, and if so, then a little bit about them and especially how you know that they are Roma. Then we MAYBE have something to keep this troublemaker away. Thank you very much in advance Istvan 19:24, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Take it away. It breaks the rules.

Uploading images with false license information

[edit]

The license information you provided when uploading the following images was false:

  • Image:Silver tetradrachm of Lysimachus 305-281 BC.jpg
  • Image:Marble portrait of Alexander the Great.jpg
  • Image:Dedication by Alexander the Great to Athena Polias.jpg

The British Museum specifically states that all images on their site are available for paid licensing, with the price varying depending on how you want to use the image. The information you provided indicated that "This image is copyrighted. The copyright holder allows anyone to use it for any purpose, provided that The British Museum (http://www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk) is cited as source." However, the Privacy & Copyrights page on that site states, "You may not reproduce or distribute the images or any part of the images for commercial purposes in any way without a licence from the British Museum Images (BM Images). Copyright in all the images remains with BM Images and the collections it represents."

Please note that knowingly providing false information upon uploading an image can result in your editing privileges being blocked for a period of time. If you have any questions regarding image usage and which images can be uploaded, please let me know or post them to Wikipedia talk:Uploading images (they may be answered more quickly there).
