RFA thanks

Thanks for your support in my RFA, that didn't quite make it and ended at 120/47/13. There was a ton of great advice there, that I'm going to go on. Maybe someday. If not, there are articles to write! Thanks for your support. Lawrence § t/e 17:41, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Naming convention help requested

Can you add your opinion on naming styles? Talk:Hollywood_blacklist needs more opinions about whether a style unique to this page should be used or not used. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 16:24, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I have commented at the talk page. I agree that the naming style used at the article is non-standard, and there has been no case presented to require the invocation of ignore all rules to topple naming guidelines on this occasion. I would however urge you to be careful not to be dragged into an edit war, but with a short period of discussion I am confident this can be solved. Regards, EJF (talk) 16:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Still, with a few more months huggling I maybe can expect a few more "friends" to join my list! Regards, EJF (talk) 22:18, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Editor Review

I have to say. That was the longest review I have ever seen. I thanks you for your time. I will have to take all your comments and suggestions. 1.) I am taking a break in taging articles. 2.) I understand that I waited too shortly for an editor review but I didn't know that you have to wait so very long. 3.) I have slowed down and have started looking diffs to see if it is vandalism. Actually, today, I almost reverted an edit but looked at it more carefully and noticed it wasn't vandalism. So I didn't revert it. 4.) If you haven't noticed, I stopped closing AfD's. 5.) I understand that Adminship isn't a special reward, but just a no big deal of getting some extra tools to use to help protect wikipedia. 6.) I rarely get stressed so much that I retire. If I do get stressed out I will probably go on a few day wikibreak.

Anyway. I will take your suggestions and keep up woth my adoption. Cheers.--RyRy5 (talkReview) 23:58, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Not a problem, you're welcome!
1.) That's good, a bit of time learning the policy and looking at the debates about it at WT:CSD should help you a bit.
2.) About the waiting time from the last one, that's not really a concern but some editors might think that someone's editing doesn't change in a matter of a few weeks. However, I believe yours is improving, and will continue to. I don't agree with User:Friday's assertion that you are acting as though you want attention. I believe you want to improve and do the best you can for Wikipedia.
3.) Good idea, it is always best to the check the diff before you revert it. Most IP edits are good (fixing typos), so we should always be careful not to revert them.
4.) When/if you ever start closing them again, make sure you follow WP:DPR#NAC.
5.) Yes, and I believe if you improve your work at AfD and CSD, and continue reporting vandals at AIV, you will be able to be trusted to have the tools. Remember quality not quantity.
6.) I'm glad you have a good positive attitude and I believe you can shine as an editor :) Keep up the adoption with Steve and have fun editing! Best regards, EJF (talk) 09:51, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I've responded to your comments on my editor review, would you care to have a look at them? Thanks a lot for reviewing me. Cheers. Steve Crossin (talk) (review) 12:32, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I've replied. No problem doing the review, it's only my second, so I hope it's OK! EJF (talk) 12:59, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Lady Aleena's RfA

EJF...Thank you for supporting my nomination for adminship. Through it I have become aware of a great many people who can help me in my future editing endeavors. Even though I was not promoted, your support shows that I still have something to contribute to Wikipedia, even if it is minor edits to fix spelling and grammar to working in WikiProjects to help others make great articles. If you wish to further discuss the nomination, please use its talk page. Stop by my talk page anytime, even if it is just to say hello. Have a wonderful day! - LA @ 03:57, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 06:12, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Re:Comment

Thank you for your feedback on my articles that I've created. To tell you the truth, I rather prefer using the <ref> tag because it is much easier to use that {{cite web}}. I hope you can understand my opinion on this topic. Thanks again for the comments, and I hope to continue writing articles for the English Wikipedia.

While we are on the subject of talking, I just wanted to let you know that I am currently getting coached for becoming an administrator on this site. And yes, I do remember you from the Simple English Wikipedia. Cheers, Razorflame 13:53, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Requesting an Editor Review

Hi, you opposed my last RFA at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Gary King a few weeks ago. I have decided to open an Editor Review at Wikipedia:Editor review/Gary King so I could receive a new assessment for my recent activity on Wikipedia. I would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to look over my recent contributions and point out areas where I could improve. Thanks in advance! Gary King (talk) 05:18, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I'll get that done this week hopefully - given my current activities it may take me a while to do a good thorough review. Regards, EJF (talk) 11:27, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Rfb participation thanks

Hello, EJF.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your both your early and strong support. -- Avi (talk) 16:35, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi,

I'd like to take the opportunity to advise you on two matters which, being a member or former member of the Northern Ireland WikiProject or it's sister project on Belfast, you might be interested in the following submission about a recent terrorist attack Wikipedia:Northern Irish Wikipedians' notice board#News.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to ask for your help in reviving the Northern Ireland WikiProject. Given that there are only a small number of Wikipedians from Northern Ireland or interested specifically in the region, the project needs all the help it can get.

Cheers, --Setanta747 (talk) 13:07, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

My RfA

Hi EJF, I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. If you need anything, or notice something that bothers you, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks again, PeterSymonds | talk 23:14, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
