Conflicted licensing on image File:Ximik K.png

[edit]

The above noted image or media file appears to have conflicted licensing. As an image cannot be both 'free' and 'unfree', a check of the exact status of this media/image concerned is advised.Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:29, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of File:MM1.jpg

[edit]

I was trying to upload this file for inclusion in Mazes and Minotaurs. I spoke with Olivier Legrand and he okayed its use, although it would be helpful for him to explicitly express what permissions apply here. It looks like it was deleted three times and then the filename was blacklisted; all the deletions refer to WP:COPYVIO. The source of the image is here; as you can see this is from a game released under a free license. The image in question was created explicitly for this game so it should not be encumbered. This is the first time I have tried to upload an image and the first time I have encountered this situation, so any information on what needs to happen for the license issue to be rectified would be much appreciated. I am sure that whatever it is we can get this handled. Rifter0x0000 (talk) 18:04, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:UnidenCorp logo.png

[edit]
⚠
Thanks for uploading File:UnidenCorp logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 18:06, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:TheWireS5intro.ogg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TheWireS5intro.ogg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:56, 27 January 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shizhao (talk) 12:56, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Solar cell efficiency

[edit]

Hey East718 (or Jennavecia).

I noticed you were the original uploader of the solar cell efficiency progress chart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PVeff%28rev110707%29d.png) I was wondering if you were also the author of it as well. If so, could you update it to include the newest solar cell efficiency record of 43% as claimed by proffessor Martin Green from the University of New South Wales (UNSW)?

Here's the source:

Possibly unfree File:CasamayorVsKatsidis.png

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:CasamayorVsKatsidis.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Dear East718, in 2008 you deleted one image File:Encyclopedia cover engl.jpg as it had no justification given for fair use for more than seven days. I would like to add once again the picture and ready to give justification for fair use of the picture. Could you advice what I should do next? Should I remake this page File:Encyclopedia cover engl.jpg? Or I should create a new one and upload the image there? Thanks for your help! Shans eW (talk) 11:47, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shans, I've undeleted the image so you can provide a fair use rationale. If you need any more help you can contact any other admin or post on WP:AN - I'm afraid I can't be of much use, since I'm not very active anymore. east718 | talk | 07:33, 28 February 2010 (UTC) 07:33, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:CNET Central logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:CNET Central logo.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Guest9999 (talk) 16:31, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I sent you an email. Thanks!ldl2010 18:32, 4 June 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dlabinger (talkcontribs)

I noticed that you have revised either Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.

I intend to revise those articles following the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines. There are more details on the discussion pages of those articles. I'd be interested in any comments you have. It would be best if your comments were on the discussion pages of the two articles.

Thank you.

Unblocked blocked range

[edit]

I've unblocked 173.45.64.0/19; you've blocked it originally some time ago because it held a proxy, but the entire range might have been a bit much: it's colo space at a provider and I ran into the block when the box that runs CSBot ended up in that range.  :-) I don't suppose you remember which IP had the proxy, did you? xlhost assigns /29s so we might want to reblock the proxy range with that CIDR. — Coren (talk) 01:54, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No luck Coren, I've lost all my notes prior to January 2009. :( Judging from the timeframe of the block, it was probably because of xrumer proxies running from that range, probably from whoever provides xlhost's upstream network. east718 | talk | 19:30, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We are change article

[edit]

I should like to re-open the talk article about We Are Change.

I have read the deletion discussion archive from 2007 and it seems to have been a discussion of very limited scope. It is unclear that the previous author of the article had a chance to improve the article and provide references, of which there must be many. We Are Change is hardly a small or unknown movement, having worldwide connections even at local levels. The decision to delete the article appears to have been taken on flimsy grounds of amounts of money which are probably not very relevant to anything. Wikipedia is not, as far as I know, here to provide information only about entities owning large amounts of money, in any case.

Further, the deleted article status on the We Are Change page is garbled. The tag says that the article is under possibility of deletion, and that the article should still be there on the page. I was hoping to read this article, but it appears to have been removed, contrary to the instructions contained in the Wikipedia tag. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Barquwq (talkcontribs) 17:21, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Issue with AfD

[edit]

I saw your name on WP:PedMen, and thought I'd bring to your attention an issue that came up on a discussion on the Signpost. In my comment there, I draw attention to what seems to be a successful 2008 pro-paedophilia campaign to manipulate an AfD. This is probably not a big issue; the article in question seems to meet WP:N, and the contributors to the AfD discussion are mostly inactive today. It might still be something to look into though.
