Welcome. You may have an incorrect understanding of the purpose of the {{editsemiprotected}} template. This template allows a non-autoconfirmed user to edit a semi-protected article using another editor as a proxy. You need to detail the change you want to make with a 'please change X to Y' level of detail and someone will come along and implement that change, unless there is a good reason not to. Replaceable fair use File:251367-david wise large.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:251367-david wise large.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 72.88.49.68 (talk) 01:00, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

The article Ian Livingstone (composer) has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. –MuZemike 07:33, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi there, this compilation is certainly not public domain as it is made up of four copyrighted images created by the BBC. It could conceivably appear on the Blackadder page using an appropriate fair-use rationale detailing where each image is sourced from and the reasons why it is justified, but as it stands this is completely the wrong licence and is also not appropriate for use on a template. File:RayMuzyka.jpg listed for deletion

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:RayMuzyka.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Comet Tuttle (talk) 18:21, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

(The reason I listed it for deletion is simply that the person in the photo is not Ray Muzyka. Google "ray muzyka" to verify this. The caption at the IGDA website is bad; it does not list the people in left-to-right order as you had assumed.) Comet Tuttle (talk) 18:21, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Graeme Norgate.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Graeme Norgate.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 19:32, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Tony Jay.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Tony Jay.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. File copyright problem with File:Richard Joseph.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Richard Joseph.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Cloudbound (talk) 21:13, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Re:Monkey Island

Hey, its great to hear that someone else wants to get the other Monkey Island articles up to scratch. I always wanted to, but these days I lack the time. The key thing with an article such as this is to get your sources. After that, the rest falls into place. As you say, its needs a Gameplay section; that should be an easy task if you do something similar to what's in Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max Hit the Road.

You've made a good start on the Development section, though make sure to comb those sources you've found for every nugget of information they can give. I'd also advise asking at WT:VG if anyone else has some useful print sources that cover development—that worked for me when doing Hit the Road. The game has to have had a feature in Retrogamer or some similar publication that you can use. You probably won't get the intricate detail that's in Maniac Mansion's development section (unless Gilbert did a full presentation on making Monkey Island too) but I'd reckon there should be enough sources to get something equivalent to Grim Fandango or Sam & Max Hit the Road.

The Reception section is going to be the tricky one. Finding reviews for old games can be quite hard, but not impossible. You're going to need to find as many contemporary print sources as you can—this isn't a one-man job, people at WT:VG should be able to help with this—and then aim to build something equivalent to Day of the Tentacle's reception section to begin with. If there's enough sources, it may be possible to create something similar to the reception section in Maniac Mansion, but start small until you've worked out exactly how many sources you can use. A game like the Secret of Monkey Island is liable to need an Impact/Legacy section too, so be vigilant for more modern references such as listings in top games of all time, being cited as an inspiration for someone else, etc etc. Again, check the other GA+ rated articles to see what's needed.

You'll need to deal with the special edition at some point, do that in a separate section towards the end. Just give a concise account of its development and its reception, which should be quite easy given the amount of Internet sources available, and maybe garnish with a comparison image similar to this. But focus on dealing with the original before worrying about this. Lastly, get rid of the entire Injokes section. Its all trivia, though if you find anything that can be referenced, work it into the development section. That play and the GrogXD thing can probably be worked into the Legacy section, and it would be nice to keep something on the stump joke if it can be sourced, but kill the rest of it.

Hope that helps provide some direction and tips. If you need help on images, copyeditting, or so on, let me know. -- Sabre (talk) 12:20, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Alright, I'll give it a going over when I get a spare moment! -- Sabre (talk) 23:34, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Sorry for the lack of replies. I've fallen a bit ill these last few days, so haven't had much chance to really do anything. I'll try to get back on it later in the week. -- Sabre (talk) 13:14, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Great. The more the merrier and the quicker things will go. (Guyinblack25 talk 15:51, 10 November 2011 (UTC))
I'm always hesitant to use sources outside my usual ones, but really we have leeway for reception sources that we're citing only for opinion. That fact a previous FA used it strengthens the argument for it. I say go for it. (Guyinblack25 talk 19:11, 10 November 2011 (UTC))
Please feel free to make what ever edits you think will improve the article. A "Gameplay" section needs to be added if you feel up to it (I've never played the game).
If you'd like to start a discussion to get input from me, Sabre, and Jimmy, you can start a centralized discussion at Talk:The Secret of Monkey Island. (Guyinblack25 talk 19:21, 16 November 2011 (UTC))
Hey, no problem. Just happy I could help out with something in the article. The reason I've not been able to do much with it is that I just don't have the time to sit down, research and write articles anymore, real life now gets in the way with its own research and writing! Its annoying, because there are many more articles I'd like to tackle. -- Sabre (talk) 12:32, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I think its now in brilliant shape. You guys have done good work. It just needs one last look-over for spelling/grammar/poor sentence structure, then it should easily pass GA! -- Sabre (talk) 19:05, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

PC Gamer UK scans

Sorry; I don't have access to that issue. I know of some Computer Gaming World material that I can get to you, though. Give me a day or two to track it down. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 14:59, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

  • Well, here's one piece already: [1]. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 15:09, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
    • I'm not available for copyediting, unfortunately--too busy right now. However, if you don't mind a sluggish pace, I'd be willing to write the Reception section for The Secret of Monkey Island. I noticed that you've done some amazing work on that article, and I'd love to see it reach GA. I'm familiar with the ins-and-outs of finding reviews for old games, so getting sources won't be a problem for me. Tell me if you're interested. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 16:12, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
      • Okay. I did a very brief copyediting run-through of the Development section to iron out a few problems. That's all I'll be able to do copyediting-wise, thanks to my tight schedule. I'll start compiling reviews for the Reception section soon. I'm up for writing it, but, if you'd rather do it yourself, I could simply link you to the material I dig up. Your call; I don't want to impose. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 19:10, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
        • Sounds good. I'll see about getting you a few more sources for Full Throttle. I might not have any more really good development stuff (not sure yet), but there's definitely some reviews I could track down. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 15:17, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
          • Okay. I'll just focus on writing SMI's Reception section, then. If I come across any more FT development info in old magazines, I'll let you know. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 15:36, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
            • Sorry; I'm just working really slowly. Typically, I start by gathering source material and writing out the citations (because they take forever), and then writing the prose afterwards. There are still a few more reviews I need to find and cite before I start writing, but I should be finished looking for reviews in the next day or two. Again, sorry for the wait. I've got a lot going on off-Wiki. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 16:25, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Re: Full Throttle

Welcome! I'll see what I can do. If I dont' back to you in a little while, bother me so I remember :) Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 13:57, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

I've just started working through my databases. Send me an email and I'll reply with PDFs of relevant materials. I've got some decent capsule reviews for reception, if nothing else. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 18:01, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

RE: Possible work for me

It really depends on your interests. I see that you're into working on Lucasarts adventure games, so you might consider editing The Curse of Monkey Island, which is in pretty dire condition. Loom (video game) and The Dig are also good candidates. It shouldn't be too hard to find sources for most of those--and I'd be willing to help dig up interviews and reviews if necessary.

If you're sick of working on Lucasarts articles but still want to stay in the realm of adventure games, you could consider switching over to Sierra's output. King's Quest: Quest for the Crown is technically one of the project's most important articles, but it's in bad shape. Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is another possibility.

If none of that sounds good, I'm not sure what to recommend. You could check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Essential articles and see if anything jumps out at you. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 23:14, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

  • Like I said, you might want to look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Essential articles. It shows all kinds of important articles that need work. Doom (video game), Diablo (video game), Tomb Raider, Civilization (video game), GoldenEye 007 (1997 video game), Shenmue, Resident Evil (video game)--and that just scratches the surface. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 20:21, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
    • Yeah, Krondor is pretty important. I'd be up for helping you get sources if you wanted to work on that. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 05:54, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
      • Okay. There's a "Making of Betrayal at Krondor" in issue 84 of Retro Gamer. I think User:MuZemike has access to that issue, so you might try asking him for scans. This is an online version of COMPUTE!'s review of the game. Here is a CGW feature on the game. CGW gave the game RPG of the year in this issue. Feist's introduction in the manual (download here) might also be a good source. That's all I've got for now. More later. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 08:03, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
        • Also, this book contains a fair amount of information about the game. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 08:59, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
          • Possibly. I'm busy right now, but you aren't going to need a copyediting sweep for quite awhile. I may have time by then. Good luck with the article. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 20:09, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
            • Oh well—I was looking forward to seeing what you did with Krondor. Anyway, a Looking Glass collaboration sounds doable. Would Thief II work? There's a huge amount of web-based reference material on the talk page, so sourcing won't be a problem. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 22:17, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
              • I'd be happy to. I'll try to get started on Reception and Gameplay before too long. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 21:11, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
                • That's fine. I've been finishing up other stuff in preparation for Thief II, anyway. Take your time. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 09:51, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
                  • What kind of information do you need, exactly? I have a fair amount of LGS-related material that I've gathered while working on other articles. If I knew what to look for, I could probably find what you want. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 04:07, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
                    • Let me see what I can get. Go ahead and add what you've written to Development, and I'll try to find the information that's missing from the first paragraph. It'll probably be a few days before I can work on it, though. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 19:16, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
                      • Hey, happy new year to you too. Nothing would have happened on SMI if it wasn't for your initial great work on the Development section, so most of the credit goes to you. As for FAC, I'm not sure. It's a really challenging process, and we'd probably have to polish the article quite a bit to make it. If you're interested in trying for it, you could nominate SMI for a peer review; that's generally where people go before FAC. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 20:00, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Re: Fable 2

I'm kind of swamped with work in The Real World™ and with arbitration stuff, but I'll try and help out where possible. Cheers, Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 14:19, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Maniac Mansion FAC

Electroguv- I'm not sure if you are watching the relevant page, but SandyGeorgia (one of the FA delegates) posted a question about your support at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Maniac Mansion/archive1. If you could please clarify your statement, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. (Guyinblack25 talk 16:36, 10 January 2012 (UTC))

Peer review limits changed

This is a notice to all users who currently have at least one open peer review at Wikipedia:Peer review. Because of the large number of peer review requests and relatively low number of reviewers, the backlog of PRs has been at 20 or more almost continually for several months. The backlog is for PR requests which have gone at least four days without comments, and some of these have gone two weeks or longer waiting for a review.

While we have been able to eventually review all PRs that remain on the backlog, something had to change. As a result of the discussion here, the consensus was that all users are now limited to one (1) open peer review request.

If you already have more than one open PR, that is OK in this transition period, but you cannot open any more until all your active PR requests have been closed. If you would like someone to close a PR for you, please ask at Wikipedia talk:Peer review. If you want to help with the backlog, please review an article whoe PR request is listed at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog/items. Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:52, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Sorry it took so long, but I made detailed comments on Wikipedia:Peer review/The Secret of Monkey Island/archive1 Ruhrfisch ><>°° 13:49, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
You are very welcome - please let me know when it is at FAC. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 19:55, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:SBox.png

Thanks for uploading File:SBox.png. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:08, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
