Hello Emilweb. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Emilweb. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Emilweb|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 11:18, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Theroadislong,
thanks for your message and thanks for keeping Wikipedia clean!
I can confirm that I am not being directly or indirectly compensated for my edits.
I have met the owner of the aforementioned Wine Estate personally and got a tour of the premises, however, I write this article fully voluntarily and without hoping to benefit from it in any way.
Best regards
Emil Emilweb (talk) 13:58, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In which case you would be considered to have a WP:conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 14:36, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Theroadislong,
sorry, I was not aware of that. I added the COI to my talk-page accordingly. Emilweb (talk) 08:29, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Theroadislong,
I can understand where you are coming from, yet must disagree on your statement.
The information is derived from an article published in the print version of "Wineland Magazine" - South African biggest and independent wine journal. In the article, the above winery is highlihted as the first to grow Chenel, apparently a big step for the domestic wine industry, as no domestic white varital ever set feet onto the ground.
I am happy to share a pdf-version of the article, if this proves my credibility. I am still convinced that:
- the above article is of public interest
- the above article is not promotional
In any case, I will "soften" the wording, but want to emphasize again, that I am have no connections with the winery at hand. In the meantime it is just about finishing what I started... Emilweb (talk) 08:19, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but it reads like something from the company marketing department and "public interest" is NOT a criteria for accepting an article. Theroadislong (talk) 08:43, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply, and yes, "public interest" is not an acceptance criteria. I just wanted to raise that the planting of that Chenel is not only of importance on a micro-scale, but also on a more global level - at least domestically within South Africa.
