Thompson Central Park New York Hotel

Good Morning. My name is Dalton Freitas and I am the executive assistant at Thompson Central Park New York. Please note that our main entrance IS on 56th street and not on 57th. The photo of the Le Meridian is a photo of the hotel next door, and our property is actually barely visible. Thank you.

@Dkfreitas, thanks for the message, that clarifies the situation a lot. However, I am still confused, since the article says that the hotel was formerly known as the Parker New York (which is visible in the Le Meridien picture). @epicgenius - Yes, the former Viceroy Hotel rebranded as a Le Meridian in 2019. That is the hotel next door to us on 57th st. The main body of our property is on 56th street. The image which includes the Le Meridian is primarily of that property. In that photo, our property is only a sliver in the back left side of the photo. @Dkfreitas, thanks for clarifying. That is strange, since the article seems to describe the hotels as one property rather than two. Maybe Another Believer (who created the Parker New York article) has a different insight, but if these are two separate properties then ideally there should be two articles. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:25, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
@Epicgenius I created the article after staying at the Parker, but I don't know much about the history of either property otherwise. I'm a bit confused as well. East Village content falsely added to Alphabet City article

As you may recall, on Oct 11, 2019 you added big chunks of content to the Alphabet City article with the comment "from the East Village article." Much of the edit is probably good, but I've been running into some headscratchers.

The current one is this: "for a short period, the portion of the Lower East Side that is now Alphabet City was one of the wealthiest residential neighborhoods in the city." As the associated citation suggests, this was true for the East Village (parts 2nd Ave and adjoining St. Mark's), but not Alphabet City. The paragraph goes on to support the statement by mentioning a mix of developments outside the neighborhood and speculation around Tompkins Square that resulted in later, lower-priced housing.

There's a lot to go through and I'm no expert, so I wondered if you had any suggestions on editors, yourself included, who could put some focused effort into the article, particularly the historical sections? Unendin (talk) 01:16, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

@Unendin, thanks for bringing the topic up. I think some of the additions in the EV/LES/Alphabet City articles will have to be rewritten at some point. The LES page includes a lot of info about the EV as well (north of Houston), and that will need to be fixed in the future, as well as the Alphabet City issue. I don't have the time or resources at the moment to look at the Alphabet City page in depth. But in the meantime, you could post at Talk:Alphabet City, Manhattan and see if anyone else has any feedback or suggestions. – Epicgenius (talk) 05:41, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
Thx for the reply. I've posted to talk. Makes sense that shifting neighborhoods would cause headaches. It's just that some of this - like pasting population and demographic stats from the East Village article (not your doing!) - seems self-inflicted. Unendin (talk) 01:08, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

@TheresNoTime, thank you very much for the offer. I actually have had some ORCPs in the past, and the main comment I received in my last poll was that I don't spend enough time in admin areas. Aside from that (plus how busy I am in real life), I still have many reservations about my own fitness for adminship. I'll definitely consider another ORCP in the future, though. Epicgenius is an excellent content creator, but needs to do some work in places like XfD and CSD (for instance, as he'll be most well-versed with the deletion policies) for a breeze of a run at RfA. I'd support as is. The advice to do more XfD work or prep set work are good, but looking at your afd stats I have no concerns about trusting you with the delete button. Thank you today for Surrogate's Courthouse, "about a historic building in Manhattan, New York City, erected in the 1890s and 1900s. The courthouse building, originally the Hall of Records, contains dozens of detailed facade sculptures and a vault-like lobby. Like the neighboring Tweed Courthouse (an FA), the Surrogate's Courthouse was mired in controversy through its construction, especially after the original architect died. The term "horganizing and slatterifying" was used to criticize the new architects. Unlike its neighbor, the Surrogate's Courthouse didn't receive the same level of opposition upon its completion, and it's mostly been used as a surrogate's court for New York state, as well as a hall of records.   • Qwerfjkl:
    • editRedirect adds a → link after redirects to edit them.
    • RegExTypoFix, a script for fixing typos, is a wrapper for User:Joeytje50/RETF.js.
    • talkback creates links after user talk page links like this: |C|TB (with the first linking to the user's contributions, and the latter giving the option of sending a {{talkback}} notice). It also adds a [copy] link next to section headers.
  • Rublov:
    • diff-link shows "copy" links on history and contributions pages that copy an internal link to the diff (e.g., Special:Diff/1026402230) to your clipboard when clicked.
  • Rummskartoffel:
    • auto-watchlist-expiry automatically watchlists every page you edit for a user-definable duration (you can still pick a different time using the dropdown, though).
    • generate pings generates the wikitext needed to ping all members of a category, up to 50 editors (the limit defined by MediaWiki).
    • share ExpandTemplates url allows for easy sharing of your inputs to Special:ExpandTemplates. It adds a button that, when clicked, copies a shareable URL to your exact invocation of the page, like this. Other editors do not need to have this script installed in order to access the URL generated.
    • show tag names shows the real names of tags next to their display names in places such as page revision histories or the watchlist.

    • ColourContrib color-codes the user contributions page so that pages you've edited last are sharply distinguished from pages where another editor was the last to edit the page.
