Artificial reality
Hi
I have just been going through your edits to the article and have noticed that you actually changed the title of a book to an incorrect spelling, "Theatre" to "Theater" as well as some other edits which have changed the context of the statements, "can be done very realistically", meaning the level of replication of the smell is close to realistic, to "while realistically possible", meaning it might be possible to replicate smells.
I appreciate that the article had a copy edit tag on it, and that you may have been doing this as part of the backlog drive, but it seems that one or more of us will need to go over the whole thing with a fine tooth comb and make sure that your edits have not changed more of it into possibly incorrect statements. The elimination drive was to clear the backlog of articles from 2008 and yet this was a 2009 tag and may have been better to leave it to someone more experienced in the field, unless I have missed that thsi is an area of your regular editing.
Please do not think I am criticising you for your attempt, but rather trying to ensure that these mistakes are rectified as soon as possible. I will probably have to do this myself as it is a major topic in the robotics projects list of articles :¬(

- I know - it was in a bit of a state in parts, although it seems to be like an advert for the "this need fixing company" at the moment with all the banners lol
- Yes I am sort of affiliated with it and I also am aware that after spending a long time on edits in a day it can be difficult to keep track of what we changed in what articles - I made an edit at the History of Cyprus page today and my edit summary said something about the population size and then realised I had actually seen the mistake on another article on Northern cyprus and had to revert myself lol
- It isn't a big deal at the moment as the article does not get edited much so I will go through it tomorrow and change the necessary bits. I find that with articles like that its best to make lots of saves to break the edits down into smaller chunks so that other editors, who maybe are involved, can change things more easily without having to revert big chunks when usually the problems are in a few sentences and most of the rest of the edits are fine.
- I also appreciate that not knowing a topic does not preclude editing it, but for technical matters that example I gave you is quite a large change, from "something which is possible to a high degree of accuracy" to "something which may be possible" is a big change of context. I am not saying that the whole of the article is like that, but rather that you can easily avoid that by just copyediting rather than trying to rewrite the prose. I notice that you added a "prose rewrite" tag in one place which I think was a good move :¬)
- Anyway enough of my rants as I don't want our first set of conversations to be in a bad context - as I said, most of your work is good and I really need to get off to do a few robotics updates to assessments before bed lol :¬)

GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up
| Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!

Copyediting request
Hi, I've been (near-)inactive for about a year now, but I feel there are still some loose ends left to tie; articles I was working on before I left. "The Ex-Girlfriend" is one of those articles, I had been attending to get it to FA status.
