Template:Turkish nationalism

[edit]

--Esc2003 (talk) 16:49, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sevag Balikci Turk millyetcinin tarafinda olduruldu. Bunun tartisma noktasi yok. Tanik askerin ifadesine gore kasten oldurulmus.

According to Balıkçı lawyer Cem Halavurt, an investigation conducted on May 1, 2011 into the background of the suspect Kıvanç Ağaoglu revealed that he was an ultra-nationalist through his internet social networks which were shut down after the incident. Through his Facebook profile, it was discovered that he was a sympathizer of nationalist politician Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and Abdullah Çatlı, who himself had a history of Anti-Armenian activity such as the Armenian Genocide Memorial bombing in a Paris suburb in 1984. His Facebook profile also showed that he was a Great Union Party (BBP) sympathizer, a far-right nationalist party in Turkey

Proudbolsahye (talk) 19:30, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

--Esc2003 (talk) 19:49, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ortalikda "If war were to happen with Armenia, you would be the first person I would kill" laflari varken ve ya Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu'yu ve ya Abdullah Çatlı'yi kahraman olarak gorurken...bunlarin hepsini Turk millyetcilige alakalidir ve onun icin Turkish Nationalism tablosunda kalacak. Bunu eger cok cok haksiz goruniyorsan, lutfen Adminlere bas vur ve ya tartisma sayfasinda RfC acabilirsiniz. Proudbolsahye (talk) 20:12, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fakat elimizde yeterince kaynak yok. Balıkçı'nın babası mücadeleyi sürdüreceğini belirtti. Belki "asıl gerçek" ortaya çıkar. Esc2003 (talk) 20:31, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Benim adminlere basvurmaga gerek yok cunku ben burda problem gormiyorum. Eger bunu haksiz goriyorsaniz kendiniz yapabilirsiniz. Baska diyecem yok. Proudbolsahye (talk) 20:44, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for some of your uploads

[edit]

Thanks for your uploads to Wikipedia. There is an issue with some of them, specifically:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the images because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the images, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image files themselves. Please update the image descriptions with URLs that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:13, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you remove in Guba mass grave, that perfectly written and referenced sources without logical argument, I will have to report your to admins. --NovaSkola (talk) 17:34, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No...it is perfectly reasonable to remove information that uses such highly unencyclopedic, distruptive and POV language. Calling a group of people "genocidaires" and saying "rape was a tool used by Dashnaks" is completely out of hand especially when there is no mention of the word "genocidaires" in the source let alone the word "Armenian". We are here to build a better and more neutral encyclopedia. I want to remind you that this is an arbitrarily covered area. You have been adding similar additions in many other Armenian related articles for quite some time now. If you continue to with your disruptive activity, I will have to send you to WP:AE and report you under Wikipedia:ARBAA2. Proudbolsahye (talk) 17:49, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I will report your disruptive activity to admins for not following wikipedia's laws on talk page and for section blanking.--NovaSkola (talk) 18:16, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If this actually does come to WP:AE, the admins will expect to see good quality data. The best place to post the data and references would be at Talk:Guba mass grave. So far in 2013 there is not much discussion on that page. If the issue has not yet been properly discussed on an article talk page, it is premature to think about any sanctions being issued under WP:ARBAA2. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 18:34, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
NovaSkola's tendentious editing isn't only found at this article. It is found at other Armenia-related articles as well. Therefore, it is not the additions in this certain page itself that is the issue, it is the user's intentions as a whole that is problematic. If he wanted to solve the issue at Guba mass grave article, he would've at least responded to the criticism I have brought up above instead of edit-war over it. It is for these reasons that I believe AE will be the best solution. Proudbolsahye (talk) 18:43, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Should i revert the page or should i wait a couple of days, what would you suggest? Ninetoyadome (talk) 21:04, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Arshavir shiragian1919.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Arshavir shiragian1919.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 09:36, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

GA nominations

[edit]

Hi Proudbolsahye, I've noticed that on your recent GA nominations, you appear to be cutting-and-pasting a GA nomination template from another article. It would be better to use the template

  • {{subst:GAN|subtopic=}}

Tat way the correct date is added, and you can fill in the correct topic (the one you're using has "Warfare" filled in, and these don't all seem to be warfare topics). Thanks for all your work on these articles, and good luck with their nominations! Your work is much appreciated. -- Khazar2 (talk) 12:28, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Massacres in Turkey

[edit]

Your proposal is really a good solution. Hopefully this will remove poorly cited events that involve every single settlements, added only to exaggerate facts from a clear wp:POV. In a similar childish fashion a recently created article (List_of_Massacres_in_the_Byzantine_Empire), widely known events are completely absent (11th-12th massacres of Ani, Sebasteia, Caesarea, Edessa, Fall of Constantinople-1453), only because the perpetrators were Turkic leaders/tribesmen.Alexikoua (talk) 07:36, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The definition of a massacre about medieval events is really a tough issue. My judgement is limited to what wp:rs claim. Off course a childish behaviour which self-defines as massacre everything, provided it wasn't perpetrated by people that don't people to the user's ethnic group, will soon end him blocked. A deletion request, as you said is a matter of hours.Alexikoua (talk) 09:26, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I never said that I was against adding more massacres comitted by Turks, you have too much prejudice. Everyone is free to improve the Byzantine massacre article. But we should not claim every source that we WP:JDLI to be dubious or unreliable. You have yourself added extra info about massacres against Greeks in Ayvalik, Smyrna and Akhisar in the list of massacres in Turkey. If you would find more you would happily add more but nobody accused you of wp:pov when you did this. The massacres in Turkey article was completely lacking info about massacres comitted by Greeks against Turks, which happened numerous times in this war. So I rightfully added these ignored events and you claim that I am pov and you want to remove them all. It is clear to everyone what is happening here.DragonTiger23 (talk) 11:16, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't thing so, Menemen massacre was still there before you showed up. A general link to the massacres committed that time is more than enough, anything else is childish propaganda. On the other hand when I added a specific event in Kayseri, but then you were pretending that I'm personally attacking you (answered this [[1]] for this [[2]]). Alexikoua (talk) 20:31, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There were far more massacres in this period than only Menemen, the article dis proportionally ignored the casualties of the Turkish civilians during this war. So I rightfully improved the article, it also is not forbidden to add info about more massacres, in fact it is encouraged. This has nothing to do with propaganda in my case. But you are trying to remove sourced content only because you WP:JDLI don't like it. This is trying to censor wikipedia and ignoreWP:NEUTRAL. On the other hand you are trying to do some kind of "retaliation",[3][4][5] adding massacres committed by Turks to Turkish cities, events, to the list. This is no problem if it is reliably sourced, but on the other hand you persistently try to prevent information about Greek massacres against Turks. So think about your actions. Wikipedia users should always be neutral.DragonTiger23 (talk) 14:54, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Col. Juskalian

[edit]

Hello, Proudbolsahye. I've been editing the George Juskalian article (I live in Centreville and that's my post office). I saw you mention somewhere that you wanted to bring the article up to Featured Article status. But, I didn't notice that you had implemented any of the suggestions given as to how to get there, e.g. showing all his ribbons in two places is duplicative. I think one approach would be to look at a Featured Article (or even a Good Article) about a military man so we have a clear idea of what to work towards. --108.45.72.196 (talk) 21:21, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi! I noticed you nominated an article at the WP:GAN using copy-paste function on template call applied to an altogether different article previously (fixed that one). This results in incorrect postings at the GAN, so please use

with appropriate subtopic indicated there (e.g. Warfare). All subtopic names correspond to subsection titles at the WP:GAN. Cheers!--Tomobe03 (talk) 23:11, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's not at all biological- there's a good bit of political theory/political philosophy, but terms and movements are explained. It's written as an introductory text, so certainly isn't too dense. J Milburn (talk) 14:54, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Proudb. I just uploaded (to Wikimedia Commons) 2 pictures of the Post Office in Centreville and one of the plaque on the wall outside. They're under the Category: George Juskalian, like your images. Hope you can use them somehow. It's my first time uploading images to Commons. My files are large; was I supposed to shrink them before uploading them? I'd appreciate your advice. I couldn't get the shot I wanted because the trees in front have too many leaves now; a breezy winter morning with the US flag flying, the trees without leaves and the parking lot empty will yield the photo I want. Greetings.

Would you please care to give at least one legitimate excerpt from the text of the Constitution of Republic of Turkey, as an evidence to your statement referring the particular document as "racist" and practically encouraging "ethnic discrimination"? I would also appreciate a clarification on whether this statement is about the Constitution of Turkey as it seems, or was your point rather different.

Thank you.

Batuhan Erdoğan (talk) 16:49, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The statement does not refer to the constitution of Turkey. I do not know where you got that from. The statement refers to various institutions, whether it is from the military, Deep state, judiciary, security forces, or any other public agency. Also, please do not make sarcastic remarks such as "I Love You" or heart shapes. If this continues, I will have to report you. Proudbolsahye (talk) 16:56, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sometimes, Youtube is not considered a reliable source; other times, it is. To make sure the video is OK, you can ask the Reliable Sources Noticeboard here: Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard.

According to Wikipedia:Reliable source examples:

YouTube and other video-sharing sites are generally not considered reliable sources because anyone can create or manipulate a video clip and upload without editorial oversight, just as with a self-published website. However, official channels of notable organisations, such as Monty Python's channel, may be acceptable as primary sources if their authenticity can be confirmed, or as a secondary source if they can be trace to a reliable publisher. Videos may also be used as a convenience link for material originally published elsewhere.

Dolores Liebmann's picture

[edit]

Thanks, Proudbolsahye! The picture is a very striking picture, very different in mood than others I've seen -- a beautiful, thoughtful person. The picture comes from an online magazine (reference #6 in the Dolores Liebmann article). The picture's caption says that it is from her early years in America; the first 10 years would be 1932-1942, which is 71-81 years ago, at age 36-46. The pictures are probably in the public domain. I assumed this. The pictures are not mine, so I can't release them.

Note: This is the first time I've seen or contributed to a Talk Page so I assume that I'm supposed to create an New Section in order to add to your list of 44 items and respond to your suggestion/query. I hope I've made the right call. In any case, I'm happy to contribute. And I'm gratified that my paper was noticed and useful to some researcher.

Hi Proudbolsahye. Thanks for the information about Dolores' pictures and the one that the Eastern Diocese has. Based on an account in the book I read by Zohrab, with biographical information added by the editor, Dolores witnessed the arrest but not the murder because it was a secret assasination arranged by the leadership enroute to a requested hearing in another city. So no family member, etc., saw it. She may have the result. She certainly endured a terrible trauma and extended ordeal. I don't remember the book title, but it contained a series of very short fictional biographical character stories and was a featured book at the Zohrab Center. Guba mass grave

[edit]

Hi, I have removed three sources which have nothing to do with the text added in the article, in the talkpage someone else provided other examples of sources which are unrelated. I believe the user who did this should be punished for this grave offense, what should be done? JediXmaster (talk) 00:08, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Look, it is NovaSkola who did it. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Guba_mass_grave&diff=557852579&oldid=555423479 — Preceding unsigned comment added by JediXmaster (talkcontribs) 00:18, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
JediXmaster (talk · contribs), I am very glad you pointed out these grotesque and disruptive edits. I'm very upset that the information you have just removed has been there for 2 months. Anyhow, as you may know, NovaSkola is already banned from editing in Armenian-Azeri related articles for 6 months and he is currently blocked for violating the ban. It is very unfortunate that the ban NovaSkola has right now is solely due to edit-warring. This means that his disruptive editing had nothing to do with the ban and that he/she basically got off easy. I suggest to be patient since his topic ban is already for six months, a lengthy amount of time anyways. It is also quite difficult to uncover his disruptive edits from 2 months ago. Proudbolsahye (talk) 01:04, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've put another article to deletion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Deportation_of_Azerbaijanis_from_Armenia but it is all messed up, I did everything this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion said, I think. Can you fix it?

Nevermind, I fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JediXmaster (talkcontribs) 04:53, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Armenian Genocide

[edit]

I'll have a look. Adam Cuerden (talk)

Well, good news and bad news. The bad news is that, at 1500x700, it's under the minimum FP size, and I suspect that's going to be a problem.
The good news, however, is that the Library of Congress is actually pretty helpful. If you contact them, and point out their scan is very small, and ask if a larger scan is likely anytime soon, they may well put it in the queue for a larger scan to be made.
You could also consider asking about paying for a scan, though this may cost up to $50. Adam Cuerden (talk) 04:34, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/2006679122/ is the link on the LoC. http://www.loc.gov/duplicationservices/products-pricing/ says that a new B&W scan at high resolution would be about $40 to pay for, but, if you'd prefer not to pay, the best solution is to use http://www.loc.gov/rr/askalib/ to ask them, politely, about whether a new scan is likely in the near future, and what your options are. Adam Cuerden (talk) 04:48, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much. $40 sounds like a lot of money. But I'll contact them and see what they say. Proudbolsahye (talk) 05:28, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My original hook was 186 characters, but the creator edited my hook instead of suggesting an alt, like he should have done. SL93 (talk) 19:01, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Harvard ref usage

[edit]

I use Harvard references myself, and on a recent class review was given some good advice I'll pass along to you. There is a way to instantly detect if you have everything correct on that. User:Ucucha/HarvErrors explains it well. Also, if you look at that page, you'll see the big red errors illustrated that I saw when I browsed your article. Anyone with the HarvErrors script will also see that when doing a review.

You need to install that on your .js user page. I notice you don't have any .js set up, so this is how you can do that:

  • Create the page User:Proudbolsahye/common.js Since I notice you don't have one, when you try to create it, it should either open up an edit window, or give a message that you can create the page:
  • Paste onto that page this, exactly like this:

importScript('User:Ucucha/HarvErrors.js');

Then save. You should have then created a user javascript page, in this case one that detects errors on Harvard referencing. "common.js" is one that should work no matter which skin you use.

Luck to you. — Maile (talk) 22:38, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
