CfD backlog

Hi, do you have time to close some CfD discussions again (especially the older ones of September and October)? Marcocapelle (talk) 07:24, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

ABN Assets

Hello! I wanted to give you some more information on ABN Assets. They are an active scam community that are impersonating ABN AMRO, a legitimate financial institution. They message people on facebook trying to get victims to send cryptocurrency to their website www.abn-assets.com . The entire webpage is fake and I am actively looking to take them down. The Wikipedia page is the first thing that comes up when you google the company and I noticed you removed the deletion flag on the page. I am not too familiar with how Wikipedia operates, but if you can help me out and get this page taken down it would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to prevent more people from getting scammed. Thank you very much, have a great day. UnrealFinancial (talk) 07:40, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:23, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Content dispute on Ten (singer)

Hi, I'm recently in content dispute with a persistent IP. We've already have a long discussion, but we're stuck now. I've asked for third opinion, but since you're familiar with k-pop on Wikipedia, I think you can understand the problem better. So, if you have time, can you take a look at it? Thank you beforehand. — Yolo4A4Lo (talk) 12:06, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Use of “ethnic cleansing”

I am very concerned by the use of “ethnic cleansing” in the context of language. This is the term that was used specifically during the wars that resulted in the breakup of what was once the country of Yugoslavia. Ethnic cleansing specifically referred to the KILLING and attempt to KILL off an entire ethnic group.

I personally know people who literally lost their entire family due to ethnic cleansing. Using this term to indicate a language issue is beyond offensive. It is sanitizing again the deaths of many innocent people. 2600:1700:B2D:1810:A5A7:17EA:92A2:9D3D (talk) 13:16, 29 November 2021 (UTC)

International Society for Philosophical Enquiry

Thanks for your closure. Do you think this should maybe get salted, since it's being repeatedly recreated? JBchrch talk 04:44, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

@JBchrch: Hi, it feels like it may be a little early for that. It was technically recreated only once. Bgrus22 created the page as a cross-namespace redirect in 2020 for some reason, so only Elingolin's 2021 version would count as a recreation. plicit 06:41, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Miss Myanmar

Hi, Explicit. AungKaung932 (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) has returned to the various Miss Myanmar pages again. It might be time for an indefinite block, given that they've been blocked for exactly the same behaviour and are probably evading the block you placed on 202.165.87.75 (talk+ · tag · contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RBLs · proxy check · block user · block log · cross-wiki contribs · CheckUser (log)). Sdrqaz (talk) 10:40, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

@Sdrqaz: Hi, I have blocked AungKaung932 indefinitely. Given that this user was able to make edits despite that IP being blocked, it may signify that their IP address is dynamic. I'll leave the Miss Myanmar pages alone for now, but please free to notify or ping me if the articles are restored once again so I can protect them from editing. plicit 11:16, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

your deletion

[1] - please explain your deletion of a talk page. Loew Galitz (talk) 19:43, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

@Loew Galitz: Hi, as the deletion summary suggests, promotion. It was created by 84.68.137.66 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), who was being disruptive and was blocked for 60 hours by another administrator. There were no other edits to the talk page. plicit 23:41, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

What sort of more thorough discussion can we have there? I'm trying not to be impatient here, but it's been decades now :) we have three people saying delete, and one person commenting that they're curious if there is significant coverage (and then me saying yet again that there isn't). What else needs to be said or done to resolve this? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 09:57, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

@Joy: Hi, I relisted the discussion because I didn't see a strong enough consensus to delete the page, especially given its history. It has survived AFD three times prior, two of which you were the nominator. Unlike other international relations which I have deleted even as "soft delete" due to low participation, this one in particular has proven to be contentious and would benefit from additional participation. Plus, I felt that the other half of Mhawk10's comment had some merit due to the language barrier with Mongolian. The debate will likely close as "delete" if additional sources are not forthcoming. plicit 11:56, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, I think if we haven't received input from Mongolian users about the topic in this much time, it's doubtful we'll get it now. (Probably because nobody even knows about such a fringe matter.) --Joy [shallot] (talk) 12:20, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Deleted user and articles

Sir, your deletion of this user
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&logid=123187304

Caused the removal of their UK Nottinghamshire articles
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wigthorpe&action=history
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Costhorpe&action=history

And it hence shows missing links here

Could you provide the content? If they were sensible articles, I'd happily recreate them.
Thanks --The Equalizer (talk) 17:50, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you so much, Explicit, for catching all of those many broken redirects and reverting them all to point to the correct pages. I have been waking up too early and I shouldn't edit before I've had my morning coffee. I jumped the gun there. I appreciate you alerting me to my mistake on my talk page so I could revert myself. I also left a message for the page mover suggesting that, in the future, they leave a redirect when they do a page move so that a bot can fix all of those redirects so they point to the right pages. Thanks again! Liz Read! Talk! 22:59, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

@Liz: With the amount of pages affected and 99% of them having eventual targets, those broke redirects had to be inspected with extra care. Many of them had backlinks and the page history showed that reverting to the previous revision would have taken care of the matter. Please make sure to check these the next time a huge batch shows up.
I appreciate you taking accountability for those mistaken deletions here on my talk page, but shifting the blame onto AnomieBOT III in your message to Polyamorph is odd. AB3 only deletes broken redirects with one revision. Those with more are listed at User:AnomieBOT III/Broken redirects for human review. Had those redirects been deleted, the deleting administrator would have been responsible for those actions. plicit 02:52, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
Thank you Explicit, in reverting the disruptive page moves I did not consider broken redirects when I should have. I will be sure to do so in the future. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Polyamorph (talk) 04:49, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

Guardians Drum And Bugle Corps

hello! i was wondering why you proposed deletion of the guardians dbc page? the reason you put was "non-notable" and "no evidence of success in national compettion" and yes thats how you spelled competition, if we're going off of notoriety and success you'd have to also remove dozens of other open and world class ensembles. I see no reason the Guardians pages shouldnt be present, thank you kindly. 52.144.111.245 (talk) 16:46, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Declined speedy (Fahad Ahmad (activist))

Just to clarify, the creator of the article for the purpose of G5, is the person who actually created the draft, not the one who moved it to mainspace? The one who moved it to mainspace is a likely sock (and blocked), but not the creator of the draft. It's a rather odd situation IMO, as there are several authors who seem to work very closely with the socks of User:Syed amjad08, but who don't obviously seem to be socks. Mako001 (talk) 10:18, 15 December 2021 (UTC)

@The Alternate Mako: Hi, per WP:G5, the person who created the page must be the sockpuppet of a blocked user to qualify. plicit 14:12, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. would it be acceptable to draftify this one instead in this case? Mako001 (talk) 04:27, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
@The Alternate Mako: Yes, that should be an acceptable alternative in this case. plicit 07:23, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
I've moved it to draftspace now, since the only edits by other users were categorisation and cleanup/copyediting. Would it be worthwhile deleting the redirects that this has left? Mako001 (talk) 12:39, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
@The Alternate Mako:  Done, speedy deleted under WP:CSD#R2. plicit 13:07, 16 December 2021 (UTC)

Nice to meet you. Thank you for your work. My name is Qbwr8296. Thank you for editing my subpage. I think it was probably a redirection that was edited, but what did I do wrong? In addition, I would appreciate it if you could tell me how to edit it. I'm a Japanese, so I tend to rely on machine translation for most of my English, but I'd appreciate it if you could help me understand. I won't edit the English version at this time, but I'll do so someday when I have a lot of English ability and experience. I look forward to meeting you one day, Explict. When someone wants to redirect a page on the English Wikipedia to a different language Wikipedia, we must use {{Soft redirect}}. Otherwise, AnomieBOT III thinks #REDIRECT[[Ja:利用者:Qbwr8296]] is a redirect to a page that does not exist. I hope this explanation makes sense. plicit 09:52, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

Request to restore deleted article

Hello Explicit,

I page I created was deleted after an expired PROD. I had forgotten to respond to the person who nominated the article for deletion. Their concern was somewhat ridiculous, "Non-prominent nor noteworthy artist vying for Wikipedia clout by using the "people of color"/race card, doesn't qualify under Wiki standards" . The artist has many non-trivial mentions and in-depth coverage in large, reputed publications like The New York Times, Complex, WWD, Vogue, and 032c. The person who placed the proposed deletion obviously didn't conduct a WP:BEFORE.

Would you be able to have it restored? Thanks! Mooonswimmer 12:33, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

@Mooonswimmer: Hi, it would be no problem as any article deleted by PROD can be restored upon request. Which deleted page are you referring to? plicit 12:37, 26 December 2021 (UTC)

Request CSD on page unable to be tagged

Hey Explicit, sorry for reaching out to your specifically on your talk page like this, but it seemed like the easiest way to get this done (if there is a better way to get this done that doesn't involve having to bother you, please let me know because I'm sure this isn't the best way to do this I just can't figure out a better way to do it). I would like to request CSD per A7 on Module:Sandbox/Snood1205/Convert to eastern arabic numerals/testcases. For some reason using require('Module:Module wikitext')._addText([=[{{db-author|rationale=...}}]=]); didn't appropriately put a CSD request on the page. Thanks! snood1205 01:12, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

2 Media Deletions

File:Sonic X scene.png and File:Sonic X DVD.jpg. Can you undo these deletions? Former looks like a mistake[2]. The latter also best met FAC criteria.[3] « Ryūkotsusei » 05:13, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

@Ryūkotsusei: I have restored the first file, but I'm trouble understanding the justification for the second. In the link you provided, it describes the image as "Cover art of the Spanish-language DVD of Season 2." That's an odd cover to identify the entire Japanese series, isn't it? plicit 12:35, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

Now Commons

Hello!

Good that you're deleting files I transfered to Commons! It seems most admins don't unfortunately, which has lead to quite a large backlog.Jonteemil (talk) 07:15, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

I suspect the reason for the backlog is that admins aren't sure if the license is correct so if it's deleted on Commons then it's gone, and this makes them unsure and leave the file page without deleting, am I right?Jonteemil (talk) 07:17, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) Explicit is also a Commons administrator so perhaps it easier for them to assess whether something is more likely OK for Commons than for someone who's only a Wikipedia administrator. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:40, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
@Jonteemil: Hi, no worries, thanks for the transfers! Magog the Ogre is also an English Wikipedia and Commons administrator who deals with this backlog, though there may be others. It's usually media file specialists who work in the area due to all the legal ramifications that come with it, laws that change from time to time, verifying the author, source, publication dates, checking for copyright violations, and so on. Editors willing to dig in this mud are far and few in between.
I'm not sure about others, but it's more of a "I'm not confident in this case, maybe another administrator is more knowledgeable and they determine if the licensing is correct" approach for me. There is so much about copyright to learn, but I go to the oldest in the backlog every once in a while and can make a determination weeks or months later because I always learn something new. Sometimes, it's more about making a better effort on my part to figure things out, ha. plicit 12:35, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

deleted page Draft:Neeco

Hello. I would like to ask for help with this article about Neeco company, which I was trying to create and you deleted. I understand it was wrong but I have no idea how to write it properly so it is not promotional. Could you help me please? Elle at Neeco (talk) 07:59, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

@Elle at Neeco: Hi, perhaps you are aware, but please note that there is a conflict of interest on your part as an employee of the company. Generally, you are strongly discouraged from creating and editing pages relating to your employer, but Wikipedia understands that this simply can't be avoided. The pertinent guidelines for writing about this subject are Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion and the notability guideline for organizations and companies. plicit 01:38, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Subpages deleted after TFD, but they are still used

This is partly my fault, but the following subpages were deleted after a TFD even though they are still used. Can you please restore them? I will take care of moving them to a better location.

Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:49, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for restoring these. I have moved and replaced all of them, so they can all be re-deleted now. Sorry for the extra work. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:21, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

@Jonesey95: The subpages were actually restored by Plastikspork. They are more knowledgeable with templates, so I will leave the fate of those redirects to them. plicit 01:38, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Oh, thanks Plastikspork! The above templates (which I converted to redirects and then replaced with their targets in all transclusions) can be re-deleted. – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:34, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
Done, it looks like these were all replaced by Template:Hatching colors. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 13:21, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

I would like to undelete Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/VKKM, I am aware that deletion happened at the moment, but was unaware at the time when discussion happened. Request to restore the deleted article

The article which I have created about the Indian film director Vinoth Rajendran has notable works, which is currently in editing process and under discussion, but you have deleted it. Please kindly undelete it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SarojiniMathiyalagan (talkcontribs) 03:27, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

"Dark side of the Moon" listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has identified a potential problem with the redirect Dark side of the Moon and has thus listed it for discussion. This discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 January 13#Dark side of the Moon until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. You issued an invitation to "take it to WP:RFD", so I have done that. — BarrelProof (talk) 03:48, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

List of Yellowstone episodes

I noticed you deleted Talk:List of Yellowstone episodes. The merge template on the episode articles link there for discussion, so where should the merger be discussed? —Confession0791 talk 11:05, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

@Confession0791: Hi, the discussion should have one centralized location on a talk page of an existing article. Otherwise, as with Talk:List of Yellowstone episodes, it will be eligible for speedy deletion in accordance with the Pages dependent on a non-existent or deleted page criterion. Where exactly that should take place I'll leave up to you. The {{Merge to}} template can be modified to point to a specific talk page and section by using the |discuss= parameter. plicit 11:26, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

RFD question

You just closed this RFD. I just found Mannerbund that was missed in the discussion. Maybe reopen and add this one? Although it has a different target, it had the same one in the past and is just a different variation with diacritics. Or delete it without discussion as the same applies? MB 02:09, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

@MB: Hi, I felt it best to reopen the discussion because of the different redirect targets. I have relisted the discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 January 14#Männerbund. plicit 02:17, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

AFD question

Hi again, I just stumbled across something else you were involved with. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thunder River (ride) was a soft delete and since restored. I found the AFD in the edit history of another article where a link to the deleted article was removed. Now in the restored Thunder River (ride), there is no indication of a previous AFD on the TP. Is this normal? If an AFD does not result in deletion, there is a record on the TP. But here is is lost. MB 05:53, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

@MB: Hm, I think there's a bot somewhere that tags talk pages of recreated articles previously deleted through AFD with the previous 'delete' result, but it seemingly does not deal with pages that were restored. They probably should be tagged with said template. There was a batch of recently undeleted roller coaster-related pages, so they're all likely missing that documentation. I'll try to get a list together and tag them all. plicit 14:01, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
What if the tagging were done as part of the AFD closure before the article was deleted? Wouldn't that handle this in all cases going forward? I have no idea what would be involved in making that happen... MB 14:07, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

hi, someone told me I should contact you to restore Nicolás Atanes. Actually the article was deleted more than 6 months ago, in an AfD discussion. I didn't took place on the discussion firstly because I didn't knew about it. I don't know Nicolás personally, I have heard about Nicolás because he was nominated for the Navarra Television Awards, and I heard him on Cadena SER. He has appeared in RNE, in the Telediario, writes in Diario 16, has met with great politicians (Mariya Gabriel, for example), and has been proposing educational changes in math for a long time. Without biases, and with reputable sources, and surely more things that have gone unnoticed about Nicolás, I believe that his Wikipedia article should be restored, and remain on Wikipedia.--83.53.76.219 (talk) 17:25, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi, among the sources you've provided here, only the first two were published after the AFD took place. The first mentions him in passing, while the second only attributes quotes to him and does not amount to significant coverage. You may want to consider going through the Articles for creation process to address the issues brought up at the deletion debate. There, you will receive comments and advice from experienced users who can guide you in crafting an appropriate entry. plicit 00:42, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Hi Explicit - just a heads up, this is a site-banned sock puppeteer, I've just blocked the IP. Undeleting Lmmnhn pages

Greetings. It is noticeable that dozens of pages created by banned User:Lmmnhn were deleted under ban violation. Request restoration of a page deleted Nicholas Caprio

Forgive me if this is not the appropriate place to contact you I am clearly a novice. I have been out of circulation for over a month recovering from COVID-19. I came back to discover a page that I edit had been deleted. Also that I had been accused of a conflict of interest editing. I deny the accusation of having a conflict of interest in my editing of the ghost hunters page since every edit I made can be factually supported by documentation. I feel the user who accused me of a conflict of interest then, in a punitive measure, nominated the page I contributed to for deletion as a form of retribution. Unfortunately, I was incapacitated and only came to discover this After the Unfortunately I was incapacitated and only became aware after the resulting deletion. I am here to ask for the page of Nicholas Caprio to be restored. Can you help me? DoctorMegan (talk) 14:40, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

@DoctorMegan: As the page was deleted as a result of the deletion discussion, I can not unilaterally undelete the page. You may want to try creating going through the Articles for creation process to address the issues brought up at the deletion debate. plicit 02:06, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

Again, I feel the action was punitive. I was unfortunately incapacitated with Covid and subsequent recovery at the time of the discussion and I was not able to participate. In addition, there were only a couple of comments even after multiple postings and I suspect that those who did respond were "invited to". It is all just very disappointing. Is there a way to at least restore the page and open up the discussion? I feel bad that an incorrect misinterpretation of my actions caused someone to lose their page. I can point to dozens of pages that have less attribution that have not been deleted. Forgive me, I do not mean to sound unappreciative, I am just disappointed and looking for some help from the community. Thank you. DoctorMegan (talk) 04:02, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

@DoctorMegan: Please assume good faith of fellow editors. Baseless accusations of vindictive actions and canvassing constitute personal attacks and can lead to sanctions on your account.
I can offer compromise: restoring the page and moving it into draftspace, which will allow you work on the page and submit it through the Articles for Creation process. Do you find this proposal reasonable? plicit 12:36, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

I apologize, you are correct I should not assume the actions were vindictive, as I pointed out when I was accused, correlation does not imply causation. And I appreciate your compromise, I do find it reasonable. Thank you. DoctorMegan (talk) 14:59, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

@DoctorMegan: The content is now available at Draft:Nicholas Caprio. Please make the necessary edits and follow the instructions on the submission template when you believe it's ready to be reviewed. plicit 00:32, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Undelete page Roger Elkin

This is a concern. Roger Elkin's poetry has achieved 62 (inter)national First Prizes - does Wikipedia list anyone else whose poetry has made a similar achievement?

The Sylvia Plath Award for Poems About Women was an international poetry competition held by the World Order of Writers of Narrative Poems - a USA based poetry writing project.

He is an acknowledged authority on aspects of the poetry of England's former Poet Laureate, Ted Hughes.

He is a highly-respected reviewer of current English poetry, and his reviews appear in important poetry magazines, and on websites.

His links with the editor Howard Sergeant is well documented. See the Howard Sergeant archive at Hull University, England where mention is made (among other aspects concerning poetry writing and publication) to him being the First Recipient of the Howard Sergeant Award for Services to Poetry. The significance of this lies with the important position that Howard Sergeant's quarterly poetry magazine "Outposts" held.

Roger Elkin is a highly respected Poetry Editor, and critic. Various websites acknowledge this. He regularly is asked to adjudicate Poetry Competitions, both for single poems and also full collections.

The ISBN links will indicate a wide band of published volumes of poetry. Compare this with other late 20th century poets. Not many currently-writing English poets have 13 collections published and critically-supported. His most recent collection, The Leading Question, was shortlisted for the 2021 Wales Poetry Award.

Other supporting factors, both visually and verbally, can be accessed by a trawl of current websites.

File:Police Tent Splendour 2017.jpg

Hi Explicit. Would you mind taking a look at File:Police Tent Splendour 2017.jpg? A file with the same name was previously deleted by you on Janaury 2 per WP:F5. It appears that the file is intended for use in Strip Searches in New South Wales, which may be OK; however, this same editor who uploaded the file has also tried to create a couple of similar articles (Draft:Issues Relating to the Use of Drug Detection Dogs in New South Wales and Draft:New South Wales Police Force Strip Search Scandal (List of Reported Incidents)) which seem to have been draftified for various reasons. Given all of the file deletion notifications on this editor's user talk page, maybe it would be better for them to get an article created via AFC first and then worry about adding non-free images to it. Any opinions on this? -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:29, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Notability

Example: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cindy_Stowell&diff=next&oldid=1067143229&diffmode=source

It's true that redirects are not governed by notability, but if there is no article (because of the person lacks notability), then the redirect is superfluous. These are people who have been removed from the now-renamed list article because they shouldn't have been there in the first place. -- Valjean (talk) 00:08, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

@Valjean: While that may be true, it does not change the fact that these pages do not meet any of the speedy deletion criteria. These types of redirects are regularly discussed at WP:RFD, and that is where they should be nominated for deletion. plicit 00:12, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
Okay. I'll bring it up there. -- Valjean (talk) 00:14, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

FYI

Hello, Explicit,

I don't know if you noticed but we had a higher than average number of drafts expiring during the month of January, due mostly to an AfC July 2021 Backlog Drive that occurred last summer. By the end of July, AfC reviewers had totally caught up with their backlog of drafts to review so I think going forward into February, we'll have fewer drafts appearing on SDZeroBot's daily list. Since you also do a lot of work with expiring drafts, I thought I'd just pass that observation along to you. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 00:33, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello, dear Explicit,

I'm not sure why you left a snarky message in your restoration of this page, there were no recent edits to this draft since July 25, 2021, just look at the page history. I'm sure FA would eventually ask for the draft to be restored at WP:REFUND but I'm not sure what caused your remark and page restoration. We are all working together here on this project, I see no need not to be civil to each other. We may occasionally get in each other's way but we both want to improve this encyclopedia. We are all just human beings trying to help out on a volunteer, community project. Have a good day. Liz Read! Talk! 03:36, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

I see nothing intimidating about this message so no need to take me to a noticeboard again. Liz Read! Talk! 03:37, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
To my recollection, this is the third instance you have deleted a page due to your unwillingness to refresh a page before deleting it despite repeated requests to do so. It first occurred with User talk:Liz#File:Chanchhaya.jpg, then at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion/Archive 369#Draft:CodeMiko, and now once again. Last minute edits always occur and it doesn't take much effort to check again, especially as you seemingly load the page far in advanced, anywhere from eight minutes ahead based on File:Chanchhaya.jpg to 13 hours ahead based on Draft:CodeMiko. I edited the draft as I'm trying to avoid deleting FloridaArmy's drafts as they request restoration each and every single time anyway.
And you can keep your antagonizing comments to yourself, that last bit was entirely unnecessary. plicit 03:57, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
Guys, Guys, calm down, you two, do a tremendous job here, please don’t bicker amongst yourself, if anything you both owe yourselves a bottle of expensive fine wine for the incredible super human contributions you make,¯\_(ツ)_/¯it beats me why you both are bickering. Celestina007 (talk) 13:03, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

@Liz: BRG Sports You're fucking kidding, right? This wasn't even eligible for PROD even if I hadn't removed it seven minutes prior to your deletion. It was contested on the talk page. plicit 03:54, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Could you please restore this entry. I would like to work on it. Thanks. FloridaArmy (talk) 02:09, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

@FloridaArmy: Done – as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored upon request. plicit 03:46, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

S-Bahn talk pages

Do you have a better solution for the talk pages of that article? The current talk page should definitely be located at Talk:S-Bahn, not the one that hasn't been used for years. A move is surely not the right way to archive a talk page in a normal situation but in this case we need to make way for the current talk page which is still located at Talk:S-train. --PhiH (talk) 13:20, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

@PhiH: I have performed a history merge and manually archived the older discussions at Talk:S-Bahn/Archive 1. plicit 13:43, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

PRODS

Hello, Explicit,

Some of these PROD files were previously nominated for deletion. That's why I'm restoring them. Just thought you'd like to know why since you were upset with me about this issue in the past. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 02:29, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

Now, I'm not sure. They were nominated for deletion in a FFD discussion but later withdrawn. You are better than I am with file discussions, I'll let you look these over. Sorry. Liz Read! Talk! 02:32, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
@Liz: PROD policy does not specifically address withdrawn nominations, so I'm not sure that such instances would be defined as pages "previously discussed at [...] FfD" if no comments were made. I think you only restored File:Tipa explanation.png and File:Tipa phonetics.png, and the deletion of these two in particular had the support of the uploader at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2013 August 2#File:Tipa explanation.png, so they really should have been deleted at that time. With these considerations, I applied WP:IAR. I'll just nominate them at FFD since you've already restored them. plicit 13:23, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

Salted article recreated

Hello Explicit,

An article Annamalai Kuppusamy you WP:SALTED months back[4] is now created under a different name now as K. Annamalai (BJP politician). I searched the logs for different versions of his name and found it was repeatedly recreated.[5][6]. It was deleted twice(one version deleted by you) through two AfD's and still does not pass WP:NPOL.[7][8]. - SUN EYE 1 12:46, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

@Suneye1: Hi, I've deleted the page. I had to look at it for a while as I wasn't sure G4 applied anymore, but then realized the content was a combination of the previously deleted Kuppusamy Annamalai and Annamalai k. plicit 13:23, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, there also exist a promotional draft version, Draft:Annamalai K. The most possible reason for the repeated recreations are the Information technology units of the politicial parties trying to improve their partymen's online appearance.- SUN EYE 1 14:21, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

GOT episode picture deletions

I'm not seeing that F4 applied; to the best of my memory, all of the episode screenshots had NFU rationales. Was there a centralized discussion somewhere I missed? Jclemens (talk) 01:57, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

@Jclemens: Seems like you're referring to RTS2001's uploads. Those files were uploaded without any accompanying text on the description pages; no license, no FUR, just empty. They were tagged by ImageTaggingBot for the lack of licensing information and deleted as such. plicit 03:17, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
Well, that sucks. I made very certain that the GOT Season 1 episodes had FURs when going for GA/GT. BUT, I see that the screencaps I had uploaded were deleted from the articles in 2019 despite that, and that these were just recently readded, obviously deficiently. Sorry to have bothered you. Jclemens (talk) 04:11, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

OPTi Inc

In 2018 you deleted OPTi Inc. as "possibly promotional" yet in 2016 that company had dissolved so it could not possibly be seen a promotional. The IBM PC compatible WP article links to that deleted article. Do you think you did the right thing? Thanks. Jamplevia (talk) 14:28, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

@Jamplevia: The page was deleted in 2018, but was created in 2005. As the deletion summary suggests, it was nominated by another user for deletion using WP:PROD with two concerns: "Cites no sources, possibly promotional." It went uncontested for seven days and was deleted. plicit 03:17, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
The deletion log says that the article cites no sources but the article has an external link in the article body text to a source so the author merely used the wrong syntax to cite a source. Do you think you should have fixed that instead of deleting the article? Jamplevia (talk) 12:44, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
@Jamplevia: That "source" was a press release. As the WP:ONUS does not fall on me, no. plicit 12:49, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
Sorry I don't have any time for this. I'm busy repairing damage that was done to a vital article when one of the intrawiki links from it was turned into a redlink. Jamplevia (talk) 13:00, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

Steve Koester

Hello and thanks for reading this.

I'm reaching out in reference to the deletion of the page for Steve Koester, Musician.

I would hope to keep this wiki up as it's a good resource for fans/followers, I've been told.

Steve Koester has released 14 albums to date with various bands -- Two Dark Birds, Maplewood, Punchdrunk, Koester -- all who have toured internationally, released albums with international labels and received accolades in many presses.

Steve's albums have featured members of internationally acclaimed bands The Hold Steady, The Wrens, Sparklehorse, Guster, Nada Surf, amongst many others.

Here's a small sampling of press: https://therumpus.net/2011/09/the-rumpus-interview-with-steve-koester-of-two-dark-birds/Guglani (talk) 13:14, 3 February 2022 (UTC) https://onmilwaukee.com/articles/maplewood https://www.popmatters.com/maplewood-030408-2496083539.html https://magnetmagazine.com/2011/11/17/two-dark-birds-make-magnet-a-mix-tape/ https://magnetmagazine.com/2011/06/12/from-the-desk-of-bird-of-youths-beth-wawerna-the-wrens-charles-bissell-on-steve-koester-and-the-magnets/ https://hudsonvalleyone.com/2017/09/26/colony-in-woodstock-hosts-two-dark-birds-album-release-party/ https://culturecollide.com/video-premiere-two-dark-birds-channel-ancient-magics-will-call-home-night/ https://culturecollide.com/video-premiere-two-dark-birds-channel-ancient-magics-will-call-home-night/

Hi Explicit! Can you please make content of this article available to me so that I can have a look to review it and rewrite from non promotional point. IN my opinion subject is of prime importance as it is about an Institute/ organisation ,to which world level organisation as from USA and UK are providing funds for working towards SDG’s of United Nations . Subject organisation today has 144 members from 38 countries & 8 Goveronments as member countries refer link https://www.partner-religion-development.org/. .How can an article about such organisation be promotional , I would like to understand.08:38, 2 February 2022 (UTC)~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guglani (talkcontribs) Guglani (talk) 08:42, 2 February 2022 (UTC)

@Guglani: The content was quite blatantly written in a social media marketing manner. Wikipedia is not a means of promotion. plicit 03:17, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
@Explicit: I respect your remarks and opinion.I only request to make content available to me so that I can improve content to write a revised content in encyclopaedic manner as per wiki policies. Certainly topic is worthy of being part of Wikipedia. That will also make me understand which text is treated as promotional text. 13:11, 3 February 2022 (UTC)13:14, 3 February 2022 (UTC)~Also please help me about , in my insertion of signatures my name is not being shown only time of edit is being shown.Guglani (talk) 13:21, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
