Article creation[edit]

Hi there - First of all I would read some of the above guides and guidelines, and then you can set about writing a really great article. To start an article, simply type in the title to the search bar, and if it already exists it will come up with the article, if it doesn't it will come up with a list of options, click on create article, and type away. I would suggest looking at the edit text of some other articles to learn how to format the article and make it look good, remember you can copy, paste and change things. Most importantly, be bold about it all, if you make a major mistake, someone else will tidy it up, and everything is reversible. If you have any more questions or queries, don't hesitate to ask. Echovoice[edit]

First of all, you might want to take a pinch of salt. I tend not to pull my punches. :)

Wikipedia contains a vast amount of information on people, places, theories, events, groups, sounds, and so on. Of most of these (the usual exception being major geographical features), we expect some standards to be upheld. The core values are at WP:NOT, WP:V, WP:OR and WP:NPOV. We have additional guidelines and policies, such as WP:WEB, WP:MUSIC, etc. (most of them accessible from WP:N. These exist such as to restrict the content of Wikipedia to those subjects on which we would realistically be able to write good articles within the constraints of the core values. The event you describe in Echovoice seems to be someone's LANparty. In general, we keep articles on such events down to major ones (for instance, Echovoice pales in insignificance next to, say, The Gathering). Everybody wants their little piece of Wikipedia, but they can't have it. Don't take this personally, it's the same rules we apply to everything else here. Anyway, don't let this put you off editing the 1,476,356 other articles we have at the moment. If you want a good first step on the ladder, try looking at things in your local area.

The onus is on you to show, with supporting external references, why the article you contribute should stay. As has been said before, the answers are in the guidelines (again, it's for you to demonstrate why they are met). You might also want to look at the rules on writing about your own exploits. The first step in getting an article accepted about your own business is not to write it yourself. If someone thinks your LANparty is that important, they'll go write an article about it. This is the last I'm saying on the matter. I'd appreciate it if you could go edit some articles rather than harassing me further about your vanity article. The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.
