Orchestra Articles

[edit]

Thanks for the message. I am sort of in a flux or train of thought with these listings. As they are small symphonies, there isn't much to know. Thankyou for adding the content you added. I am hoping that the links will be helpful, but more content is sure to be added, also.

Defining a notable band

[edit]

So in the article itself I have to justify whether the artist is notable or not? Because according to the definition you directed me to they would be considered notable.

  • Have toured internationally
  • Members that were part of other notable bands (Alison Krauss, [Ricky_skaggs], IIrd Tyme Out --- these all have wikipedia articles)
  • Have released three or more albums on a major or an indie label (Skaggs Family Records)

I am new to this thanks, mchronister

Sounds great!!! Thanks for your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mchronister (talkcontribs)

I put a speedy delete tag on Jonas lamarche because it is not protected. Since anyone could have recreated it, but hasn't, it seems to be a low-risk target. It would be more convenient if the article didn't exist at all. Ardric47 21:30, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

andbrownleaves

[edit]

Hello, you recently deleted an article about a band call andbrownleaves, I understand you can't let any old idiots put up an article about their band, but I created the article as the band was already listed in wikipedia under the List of bands from Canada, which I think is satisfactory reason for having an article of the said band. If you object to any of the content, I will gladly change it if you deem it neccessary. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Givepeaceachance (talkcontribs)

Deletion of Old Canes entry

[edit]

Yesterday, you deleted the entry on the band Old Canes. As far as i can figure out (cf. talk above), they're eligible to be on wikipedia. First, they're mentioned in the Appleseed Cast article. Second, they are on a label: http://www.secondnaturerecordings.com/. Last, two of the band members are also members of the Appleseed Cast, who has quite a few records out. I have noted that you wrote A7. if it is because the article is too short, would it be possible to mark it as a stub instead of simply deleting it? Please let me know what you think or if there are other reasons for your action. Thanks! M.W.A. 08:05, 8 June 2006 (UTC) - cheers for the speedy reply. that's all! Figure skating

[edit]

Thanks for the WikiProject link! I have joined up with the cause. My free time is sporadic but I'll add where I can. I have been involved with almost all aspects of skating as a skater, coach, judge, club board member, photographer, etc, etc, etc. I have many photos I have taken (I've worked freelance), particularly North American skaters, to add as well.

ps - I hope I formatted this right. I'm new to these kinds of things.

I just blocked this editor for 3 hours. After your final warning, the editor added a delete tag to a well-known article b/c the article was, in this editor's words, "nonsense." This seemed to be in reaction to your warning. Just wanted you to know. Best, --Alabamaboy 19:48, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fang Aili - thanks for the message. I replaced the picture because it was a PNG converted from a photo and the black background clashed with the default white of the Wikipedia background. The new image looks a lot better against a white background and the file size is smaller. You can revert the changes if you want, I just think the new one looks better. Thanks again. --Jtalledo (talk) 20:20, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching?

[edit]

Hi Fang Aili, (I've seen you around WP a lot, but I'm not sure you'd prefer to be called "Fang" or "Aili", so I'll not use any short version, I guess). I'm writing because I recently signed up for admin coaching on Esperanza, but was dismayed to read that the majority of admins who'd signed up for Admin Coaching are apparently now unavailable (admin duties and all), and the program is at a standstill. Since you're one of the last admins who signed on for the project (back in late May), I figured I'd just go ahead and ask you. Are there any active admins working on this still? Besides talk page communication or e-mailing of individual admins, is there a good way to ask an admin for coaching? I'd like to someday try my hand at admining, after training, and have done a lot of vandalism fixing. But with the Admin Coaching program seemingly at a stand-still, how would I go about getting the recommended training? (I also hope this message doesn't come across as sounding critical of the program, or any admins). Any help or advice you can offer is appreciated. Thank you Fang Aili. --Firsfron of Ronchester 04:56, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your swift reply, Fang Aili. Your offer is really kind, and I'm genuinely thrilled you're willing to coach me. About IRC: Yes, that's no problem. I would be on Sundays thru Thursdays, during daytime and evening hours in the U.S. If any of those hours coincide with your surfing hours, we'd probably meet up. Or should we set up a specific time? Sundays are really good for me, as I'm at work in an empty office with very little (ok, admittedly nothing) to do. The rest of the week I can also make time in the afternoons and evenings (Arizona standard time). I'm on-line on Fri and Sat, too, but only on my home PC, which doesn't have IRC and tends to crash whenever more than 3 or 4 applications are running.
I should caution you, too, that I'll need some extensive training! :) Although I've got 6k edits under my belt, I'm always becoming more aware of WP policies. I guess that's natural, though. I'm really looking forward to the training; I want to become a better Wikipedian, and, eventually, a potential admin candidate.
Thank you! --Firsfron of Ronchester 19:21, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I didn't receive an e-mail. I apologise. It's possible my e-mail's been a bit wonky the past couple of days.--Firsfron of Ronchester 21:15, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just to verify, I did not receive your e-mail, and checked several hours later, just to make sure, Fang Aili. I have been checking at IRC on #wikipedia, and #wikipedia-en, but haven't caught you there just yet! :) I read your message to HighwayCello, and took the liberty of creating an admin training subpage for myself at User:Firsfron/Admin_coaching. Hope you don't mind. I'm sure we'll meet up eventually. Cheers! --Firsfron of Ronchester 23:38, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Per a request on Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians, I'm trying to find out if anyone knows what happened to User:David91. He stopped editing around April 12, 2006, when he was admitted to the hospital for some tests. He possibly lived in Singapore (likely in or near Ang Mo Kio which he edited 3 times--but with enough detail to suggest a strong familiarity with the place), and was probably the oldest Wikipedian at the age of 94 (based on a reference from 2003 when he said he was 91). Based on his numerous contributions in law it is possible he was a retired lawyer of some kind. He also contributed to linguistics, sociology, and science fiction articles. He was part of Wikipedia:WikiProject International law (though it didn't really get off the ground) and he made nearly 5000 edits. He evidently was also a well-respected member of other Internet communities he was involved in during his retirement. Any information on David91 would be appreciated. Thanks, --Alabamaboy 13:21, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It just doesn't stop! [1]. I'm not an admin, so I'm just DB'ing as they come in... --mtz206 (talk) 15:48, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. You've helped me out in the past on some tricky admin stuff, so I'm here again to bug you. Despite comments from multiple users, User:Fitz seems to still be uploading images with either no source or no copyright info. And to be honest, some of the sources he/she uses I find to be dubious.

Most recently, Fitz added the {protected} template to the Regine Velasquez article, despite the fact that they are not an admin, and a request for protection was never entered as far as I can tell. I removed the tag and noted it on their talk page, but I wanted to get your advice on how we can better communciate to Fitz the difficulties his/her actions are bringing up. Thanks! --cholmes75 (chit chat) 16:18, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jay Robert Nash

[edit]

If you get a chance, can you check out the Jay Robert Nash article at some point. Another new editor (User:Luna Santin, whose account opened on June 9, 2006) is now involved in the article's discussion. While I'm pretty sure User:Thomist is also using a sockpuppet of User:Root50 in edits to the article and discussion (b/c the two accounts write in the exact same style and make the same points) I'm not sure if this new editor is another one. Actually, I don't think the new editor is a sockpuppet but either way I'm uneasy about a new editor becoming involved in this article b/c of the POV pushing here (and other stuff). Any help would be appreciated. Best, --Alabamaboy 02:03, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

deleting Chuck Marean's pages

[edit]

Was it right to delete User talk:Chuck Marean, User:Chuck Marean/Archive1 and User talk:Chuck Marean/Archive1? There are ongoing issues and concerns regarding his edits and style, and he seems to only want to avoid discussion by having these pages deleted. See also Talk:Wikipedia#automatic_reverts. Just doesn't seem the right action for him to take asking for these to be deleted. Thanks. --mtz206 (talk) 16:49, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A short Esperanzial update

[edit]

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
