Bot automation at Wikipedia:Today's articles for improvement

Greetings WikiProject TAFI members!

Over the past two weeks, there has been extensive discussion on introducing bot automation to assist with maintenance of the Today's Articles for Improvement project. A bot has now been approved for trial and will carry out the weekly duties. The bots first run will occur around 00:00, 22 November 2015 (UTC) (midnight on Sunday).

If you have been assisting any of the weekly maintenance tasks, please refrain from doing so this week. The bot needs to be tested and proven it can do the job, and it only gets one chance per week. The tasks will include:

Updating the accomplishments and archiving selections is still done manually, along with daily tasks such as adding approved entries to the articles for improvement page. These will become automated in the near future.

We hope the bot proves to serve well, and by carrying out the routine housekeeping tasks we can boost the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the project. MusikBot thanks you for your service in helping with the weekly tasks in the past, and for your cooperation during this trial period :)

DYK nomination of Hotel Les Trois Rois

Hello! Your submission of Hotel Les Trois Rois at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Yoninah (talk) 22:13, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Excuse me, but your closure of the RM at Talk:Two+Two (film) looks a bit confused. I don't really see any evidence of a consensus for the move that was performed by the involved editor. I request you to reopen that discussion. Also, as a non-admin, you really shouldn't be closing controversial RM discussions (per WP:RM). —BarrelProof (talk) 23:11, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

@BarrelProof: there is no consensus for the move. This is a procedural close. sst✈(discuss) 01:16, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
If there is no consensus for the move, why did the move take place? You closed the discussion as moved. —BarrelProof (talk) 01:18, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
I did not move the page; another involved editor did. I have now relisted the discussion. sst✈(discuss) 01:23, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you! —BarrelProof (talk) 03:45, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Could you explain your closure here? There is still no way to verify the copyright claim. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:40, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

@Stefan2: I have undone my closure. I am only starting to help close FFD discussions, so if I did anything wrong, please tell me. Thank you. sst✈(discuss) 15:50, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

174.88.22.97 (talk) 21:57, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Hello this is the person that edited jonathan ive's biography. I stated that he was a tottenham hotspur fan. You said my source was not reliable. If you checked my source it was a tweet from the tottenham hotspur feed that welcomed jonathan ive as a tottenham fan. It also included him HOLDING a tottenham jersey with a smile on his face. I do feel that is a pretty reliable evidence, don't you think? 174.88.22.97 (talk) 21:57, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

174.88.22.97 (talk) 00:34, 23 November 2015 (UTC)You said it was "too detailed"??? What does that even mean? Isn't detail good? I don't understand what the problem is. He is a tottenham fan. The link I posted clearly shows that. It is the personal life section; plenty of celebrities have their sports fandom listed in such a section. Look up the actor Jon Hamm's wikipedia page. It discusses his love of the St. Louis cardinals and the St. Louis blues. I feel you are needlessly editing something that is perfectly fine. Later on I will reupload this edit. If you decide that it needs removal again, I will contact people higher on the wikipedia totem pole to get their thoughts.174.88.22.97 (talk) 00:34, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Inappropriate NAC closures

Please reverse your NAC closures of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Helen Duval and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cassidey. Both of these were contested, controversial discussions, generally not suitable for NAC action, and your closes show no attempt to determine whether several delete !votes, challenged as guideline-noncompliant, should be given significant weight (a task better left to admins generally). The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo) (talk) 14:09, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

  • I was about to post a message saying exactly the same thing. I ask that you reconsider the closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kathleen Snavely (2nd nomination). The consensus did NOT appear to lean towards redirecting, and in fact the same article was nominated for deletion only a month ago, with the outcome being keep. The article had changed very little since, so you should at least consider both discussions in my view. The consensus over the two discussions was leaning towards keeping. -- Ollie231213 (talk) 19:44, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
Done. WP:NPASR means that you are free to immediately renominate these articles for deletion, which in my opinion would be more effective than relisting that the nth time, but I reversed my closure anyway. sst✈(discuss) 00:07, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
WP:NPASR applies only to AFDs that have had little or no !votes so AFDs like Helen or Cassidy shouldn't be closed as No Consensus NPASR, If anyone renominates an article whatever the outcome then they tend to get bit of a bashing so it's probably best to lay off the No Consensus closures until you fully understand it (Sorry I'm not trying to sound condescending or harsh!), Happy editing :), –Davey2010Talk 00:38, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
I re-closed the Snavely AFD. The one you closed (correctly, I think) as keep was superceded by the more recent one to redirect. Since it's now a redirect, the first AFD is moot. Why they re-nominated a month later is unclear, at least to me. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 14:19, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

This wasn't exactly a clear "keep". More of a "no consensus" if anything given how one vote was just an "it's interesting" rationale (not a valid reason for retaining an article), and therefore doesn't really count for consensus. Your given rationale was misleading for this closure. Snuggums (talk / edits) 06:22, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

SNUGGUMS, I believe that I have closed your AfD nomination appropriately. If you disagree with it, you may take it to WP:DRV. sst✈(discuss) 08:06, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
I'd agree with the close on the Clemens AFD. If you go by !votes, you've got 4 to keep and 2 to redirect, with 1+nom to delete. The keep arguments resulted in sources being found and added to the article. What tips it is that the sources discuss clemens himself - not just as the father of Mark Twain, though obviously that's a factor. Discount the INTERESTING Keep, and you still have three who can make a weak case that the subject passes GNG - which, with the sources and a few bucks, gets you a cup of coffee. DRV might be your best bet, Snuggums, but it's a narrow thing. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 14:19, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
@Mrfrobinson: If you disagree with this closure, take this to WP:DRV. sst✈(discuss) 01:47, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
I will however there is an extremely troubling trend here. Please refrain from closing any more XfD as NAC. The comments in this thread should make this clear. 129.100.253.78 (talk) 19:45, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Second RM for Southern Apls

You took part in an RM "talk:Southern Alps#Requested move 29 November 2015" which I closed with a "Technical close" and a move the page back to the original name under WP:RMUM,but suggesting that another RM could be started immediately. A new RM was opened one day later talk:Southern Alps#Requested move 30 November 2015, proposing that the page is moved from Southern AlpsSouthern Alps (New Zealand) with Southern Alps becoming a dab page. Your are receiving this mass message because you expressed an opinion in the first RM request and AFAICT have not done so in the second. -- Sent by PBS using MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 10:41, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
