A question about a false date in a maintenance tag[edit]

Why did you change the date of an "unreferenced section" tag in the article Iwo, Osun to June 2003? The article didn't even exist at that time, let alone have that tag in it. JBW (talk) 22:36, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you have not answered my question, and have removed the tag for references, even though nothing in the section is referenced except the post code. JBW (talk) 22:56, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I have now checked the reference cited for the post code, and it does not mention Iwo, so in fact nothing in the article section is referenced. I shall therefore restore the tag; please don't remove it again without providing citations to reliable sources for a significant amount of the content of the section. JBW (talk) 23:02, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help me to removed the unreferenced section, i wanted to remove the section but it was a mistake that I input the date. Fieldmarshalgoldenboy (talk) 07:50, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I accept that the thing about the date was a mistake. Thanks for explaining that. We all make mistakes, but at first I thought you must be doing it for some reason that I didn't see.
I probably can't give you much help with the unreferenced section, as I don't know anything about Iwo, and I'm not willing to put a lot of time into learning about it so that I can edit the article, but I'll have a quick look, and if I find anything that seems to me to be useful as a reference then I'll add it. JBW (talk) 17:24, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sir I don't understand anything like unreferenced section in the page. So as to no more about the reference section because I am from Iwo. And I know in and out of the city, and I am also a prince from Iwo. Fieldmarshalgoldenboy (talk) 16:36, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Overuse of wikilinks[edit]

Generally speaking an article should contain a link to another article only if one or other of the following two conditions applies: (1) the linked article contains further information about the subject of the linking article, or (2) readers are likely to need explanation of the meaning of the word or expression to which the link is attached. Neither of those applies to your link to Education: that article contains no information about Iwo, Osun, and it is reasonable to assume that all or nearly all readers of the article will know what education is. Adding such links is not only unnecessary, but harmful, as it can cause confusion, and studies have show that the more irrelevant links there are in an article the less likely it is that readers will follow the relevant ones, where clarification may be helpful. JBW (talk) 22:56, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for modifying my work and exposing me on what is relevant Fieldmarshalgoldenboy (talk) 16:38, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Osun State has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 07:32, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I can't be certain why ClueBot NG reverted your editing there, but it may be because you added a list of people without any sources. You really should provide references to sources for such information. JBW (talk) 17:28, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Oduduwa Republic (Yorùbá Nation), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Disambiguation link notification for September 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of colleges of education in Nigeria, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Iwo. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

A tag has been placed on Draft:Oduduwa Republic (Yorùbá Nation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://unpo.org/members/22105. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Your contributed article, Yorùbá Nation[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Yorùbá Nation. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – History of the Yoruba people. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at History of the Yoruba people. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. 2A01:4C8:64:C8BC:880E:ED5B:6406:DB59 (talk) 18:59, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciation for your contributions to the Yoruba people artice[edit]

Hi there Fieldmarshalgoldenboy, I want to show my appreciation for your interest in being a new contributor to the Yoruba people article here at Wikipedia. If you have any questions, I will be glad to offer you assistance as a fellow editor. Godspeed

I want to create another article for Yoruba people titled Yoruba Nation a soverign state yet to get independence. But I will be using the history which is similar to Yoruba people. And I will kindly like your help. To move this article forward because they used to delete my article because it's has the same motive with others but it's different. Fieldmarshalgoldenboy (talk) 06:27, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing hoaxes, such as Yorùbá Nation, is considered to be vandalism and is prohibited. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia—and then to correct them if possible. If you would like to make test edits, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Talk! 01:28, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yorùbá Nation is not a vandalism of any pages but an independent page which is the country the Yoruba people are agitating for. it's different from the history of Yoruba and others Yorùbá people Wikipedia page and if you deleted it. it will be like you are definitely declare a total war of human rights to the Yorùbá people. it's better you remove the speedy deletion. Fieldmarshalgoldenboy (talk) 05:28, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am sure that the article is not a hoax, and the speedy deletion nomination as a hoax has, rightly, been removed. However, it is not yet suitable as an article, for at least two reasons: it reads like unambiguous promotion of the concept of "Yorùbá Nation", rather than being written from a neutral point of view, and it is not written in coherent English. Although the speedy deletion nomination as a hoax has been removed, the article could still be speedily deleted as promotional. To give you a chance to prevent that from happening I shall move it to Draft:Yorùbá Nation, where you can work on it to make it suitable as an article, and then submit it for review when you think it's ready. It also seems that WIKIPEDIA:Conflict of interest may apply to you, so you should read it (if you haven't already) and be careful to follow its advice. JBW (talk) 21:57, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
