Please you kept returning my edit with regards to this issue despite my verifiable references. Please I will need your help as regards resolving this issue. I don't seems to understand what you are looking out for that I have not done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Topelovely (talkcontribs) 10:49, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the links

I will read WP:Spam and WP:SOAP. I expect that the rules are clear and so I doubt that I would often come across any blatant violations. However, I mean a more subltle form of advertising. The organization I alluded to is the LDS church (Mormons). In the past it seemed that I couldn't read about any figure from the Bible without noticing someting like "The LDS View on ...". Just tonight I was reading about carbuncles (the gemestone) where I was informed that the Book of Mormon mentions a carbuncle. Now, is this advertising or spam? I'm sure that the editor who put in that reference would think not. Is this superfluous information? I certainly think so.

Quickly comparing SPAM and SOAP, I believe that the "self-promotions" I mention above probably falls under the former category. Thanks again for the information.Bernardalone (talk) 05:25, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Bernardalone. If the "LDS VIew on.." is unsourced it can be deleted. If it is sourced, you can search on the reference link and see how often it appears in articles - this will assist you to identify systematic spamming. Could you point me in the direction of one article as an example, and I will see if there is another means for reverting church marketing. Flat Out let's discuss it 05:37, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Flat Out, here is a typical example of what I think is LDS promotion....I hate to single them out, but since I have been reading religious articles lately, I have noticed their additions to articles. In the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham, in the section "Abraham in religious traditions" someone has created a "Latter Day Saints movement" subsection. There is the example I mentioned last night https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbuncle_%28gemstone%29, this time under Cultural References (3rd line down, grafted onto the Isaiah 54:12 reference. There did seem to be more blatant insertions about a year ago; there seem fewer now, so the editing process does work.

Perhaps I'll send more later when I get the kids bathed and in bed. Thanks again. And, please point out to me any faux-pas relating to my posting here on your talk page...for example I'm sure there must be a better way to send you ref links to individual sections of an article...but I don't know it.

Hi Bernardalone, I see your point and I agree. I removed the subsection as it was unnecessary but the text was in context so i left it. I removed the reference grafted on to Isiah as it was out of context. The edits were made by different editors with only a few edits so in this case there is no systematic editing to promote the church. If you find some edits that are out of place, boldy edit them with good faith. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:29, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Your reverting of changes to the 'Patterned media' article

Hi Flat Out,

I notice you have reverted the two changes I've made to the Patterned media article. Could you explain why you've done this? The existing page is not well organised and contains out of date information. The changes I made were referenced, using information from recent publications in this area. I was going to make further changes to better describe the proposed fabrication processes for patterned media (the current information is taken from one scientific study, and does not represent the techniques that industry are developing for mass production). Thanks.

Hi Wk22, you made a lot of changes that weren't saved individually so some good changes were lost when I reverted. I made the revert because you removed a referenced section commencing with "In patterned media, the thin magnetic film..." but didnt say why. Make sure your edit edit summaries are clear and its a good idea to save each change as you go to avoid losing good edits when other stuff is reverted. best wishes Flat Out let's discuss it 13:04, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion Contest

Hii Flat Out, i created a page about a person called Nitin Dabas. You deleted that page, i request you to please tell me why you deleted that page. Moreover, please tell me what can i do to approve that page. What are the mistakes in that page thats why you deleted that ? As according to me that was fully as per Wikipedia guidelines. Ruhilgoyal (talk) 13:57, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Ruhilgoyal, I nominated the article for deletion because it appeared to be about a person but it did not indicate how or why the person is important or significant. Please read WP:BLPNOTE. I didn't delete the article, that was done by an admin. You can request to have the article undeleted, but it has been deleted twice now so I doubt you will be successful. Flat Out let's discuss it 00:14, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello Flat Out,thanks for replying, but i wanted to you to give me some suggestion, so that i can able to write an article which will never be nominated for deletion. As, in my accordance my previous article was fully complies with notability as it was from reliable source:Wikipedia (Tertiary source), so it wold be helpful for me if you describe exactly what was wrong in my article. Ruhilgoyal (talk) 11:43, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Ruhilgoyal, to ensure your articles arent deleted you can create them using the articles for creation process which I recommend to you. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:48, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Hii Flat Out, can you tell me what is exactly the mistake in my article, so that i can modify my article as it is very needy to people. Moreover, can you take back your speedy deletion nomination if i modify my mistake ? So, please tell me the mistakes in my article. Ruhilgoyal (talk) 17:04, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

AR corrections

Dear Flatout, Thank's for flagging the need for more references on the AR page - I've added a couple more since. Would you mind explaining how this comes across as an advertisement, written without a neutral tone? All the best Ff153 (talk) 12:35, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Ff153, I have removed the advert tag after a second look, however there are elements of the lead that aren't sourced in the body of the article. You need to avoid claims such as "ARTIST ROOMS has received extensive praise since its inception" unless they are sourced appropriately. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary sources. Flat Out let's discuss it 12:40, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. Is it alright to quote the same source twice, as (for example) the Tate website could be used to support other parts of the article.

Ff153 (talk) 12:47, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Ff153 yes you can use each source as often as you like it if supports the claim. Flat Out let's discuss it 12:48, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Also in the reception section, would "has been well received" be sufficiently supported by the information that follows, do you think?

Ff153 (talk) 12:49, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Ff153 only if there are no available sources that would say the opposite. Its important not to cherry=pick sources that support what we say and ignore that which we dont wish to include Flat Out let's discuss it 12:53, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your advice. I have now gone through and added references to every statement, and removed that contentious sentence. I also scanned through every article I could find and there really isn't anything negative in the media response. Would I be justified in removing the two banners, now, do you think? Thanks

Thanks for your guidance Flat Out. I had to turn my attention to other things but all is not lost. What I've learned here is enough for me to recruit other contributors to help. I think I'll start with a more coordinated effort on the "Education facilities industry" wiki page, though. I've kept the text and when I return I think I can meet the criteria for an encyclopedia article. Cheers! Michael A Anthony PE (talk) 15:19, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Michael A Anthony PE, make sure you submit the article through the AfC process to avoid having it deleted a second time. best wishes Flat Out let's discuss it 23:10, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Question

Hello there, I am a bit confused as to what rule i have broken. I am new & its my first post, and yes its about a project that I am involved in, however I read the rules & was very careful only to include facts written from a neutral point of view. There is no promotion or bised descriptive phrases of any kind. Only facts. The only reason I decided to put up a page for retro radio is that the ofcom board will quite correctly expect that I am doing all I can to explain the license process to the public. Ofcom would find it odd if there were no mention of a community radio station applicant on here. I notice that the other radio station I founded "the revolution" has a similar page up with no issues even though it is very inaccurate. As a newbe any help would be greatly appreciated. all the best Liam — Preceding unsigned comment added by Retro radio (talkcontribs) 01:34, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Retro radio it is written as an advertisement with a link to the radio stations website. Admin may disagree with me. In any case you have a conflict of interest and your username is promotional. I will take another look at the article and see if I made a mistake. Flat Out let's discuss it 01:40, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
Retro radio I was in fact incorrect about the article being promotional. I have replaced the spam template with one regarding lack of notability for the project. It is clearly a worthwhile project but it doesn't convery notability and it doesn't seem to meet WP:ORG. Flat Out let's discuss it 01:45, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your speedy response. There is no link to the web site, and after re-reading it all seems in the public interest, but i will have a look at some other radio station entries to see if i can be any more factual with my entry.Retro radio (talk) 01:56, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Retro radio facts aren't the issue here - notability is. The subject needs to meet the criteria in Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)#Non-commercial organizations and it doesn't seem to. The article on The Revolution is in the same position. Flat Out let's discuss it 01:58, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Angels Den page

Hi Flat Out, I noticed your message, I was in the process of trying to edit the Angels Den page. I'm new to wikipedia so actually forgot to put the reasons why I edited the page - which I have now gone in and done. Unfortunately it looks like you have reverted the page back to it's original state. I am trying to correct the page so it is written from a more neutral point of view to avoid the error messages on the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leap123 (talkcontribs) 13:40, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Some chocolate brownies for you!

Hi

Hi Flat out, why do you want delete this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sheik_Abdur_Rahman_Madani&action=history He is a famous person. What could i do? I just updated his profile with references. Please reply me thanks. Highermafs (talk) 12:17, 4 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi Highermafs , the subject does not appear to be notable. The sources you have provided do no support notability because the Sheik is not the main focus of the articles. The article fails WP:GNG, WP:BIO and WP:ACADEMIC. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:03, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, now what could I do, if you want you can change, but not delete, please. I can change the name by deleting Sheikh. Thanks. Many people need this article. Thanks. Highermafs (talk) 11:10, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
I can't delete the article. I have nominated it because I don't believe Abdur Rahman Madani is notable but if you can find some good sources that show he is then that will help. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:12, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
yes I know, i mean could you cancel your nomitation for delete it, i try fid other some good sources, thnaks Highermafs (talk) 11:42, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
You have time, the AfD goes for at least 7 days. I will withdraw the nomination if you come up with good sources. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:49, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

ok thanks too much Highermafs (talk) 12:11, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Goo evening, Flat OUT, i have added many references, videos and image and I corrected some mistakes, let me know, thanks, Highermafs (talk) 18:22, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

I added many references, but you changed his date of birth, why?? I created this profile for abur rahman madani, not motiu rahman madani, you have mistaken Highermafs (talk) 13:02, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Highermafs, I undid your edit because you added unreliable sources. Unfortunately other edits you made were also lost because you made a number of changes without saving them. You can reinstate he date of birth. Flat Out let's discuss it 13:26, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Ok thanks, but can you remove your nominate for deletion please, there are many article which have not got any references or reliable sources, like that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zain_Bhikha,

but my one have many reliable source, thanks Highermafs (talk) 14:15, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Highermafs you have a lot of references but few that support notability. I am afraid the article is going to be deleted as other editors at the AfD discussion have agreed it is not notable. Flat Out let's discuss it 14:20, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
you deleted the videos as well, shame, many people need this article. there are manu articles which heve not got anything. thanks Highermafs (talk) 14:46, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi flat out, I said that I created that article with so much effort, there are many articles that do not have anything, you can delete those page, but my one have many references and he need that article, thanks Highermafs (talk) 10:46, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
If you don't want your articles to be deleted, use the articles for creation process next time. The subjects you are writing about aren't notable. Flat Out let's discuss it 10:49, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, after that what happens? Will you accept the new article? Highermafs (talk) 11:04, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

If you use the AfC process the article won't be published until it meets wikipedia standards. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:06, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
what will happen if another admin (like you) remake my article?? Thanks.Highermafs (talk) 11:19, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
I'm not an admin. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:20, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
I mean people like you, who are very good to use wikipedia. so what happens? Highermafs (talk) 11:27, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
I dont understand your question. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:28, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
sorry i told that, if somepeople, for example ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Avramlieberman THIS USER ), create this article for another time (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheik_Abdur_Rahman_Madani), it won't be deleted, isn't it? Highermafs (talk) 11:32, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Any editor can nominate an article for deletion, but if you use the Articles for Creation process your article will be reviewed by experienced editors before it is published which will greatly reduce the chance of the article being deleted. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:36, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Highermafs (talk) 11:45, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
Yes you can do that too if you want. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:46, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
Ok thanks, so after that no one can nominate my article for deletion, isn't it??? Highermafs (talk) 11:49, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
No. The article can still be nominated for deletion, but it will have more chance of being kept. I will not be answering any more questions on this subject. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:52, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
Ok thanks so much, now i have understood, so when i will make this article for another time please and please not nominate for deletion. Thanks for answering me. Highermafs (talk) 11:58, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi Highermafs, if you follow the steps as advised by Flat Out and the article is not created you will be given feedback regarding the reasons why the article does not meet Wikipedia's guidelines and criteria, and given advice about how the article can be improved such as sources, tone etc.
However, please note that you need to avoid creating the article the way you did the first time because if you this the article will just be deleted again and this will make it even more difficult for it to be created again. Tanbircdq (talk) 18:00, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

AIT International School rejection

hi, my article was AIT International School. It has been rejected with the reason of commercial scene. However, i still want to write about it. AIT international school is a school in my college, which is AIT( asian institute of technology). My college has its page on wikipedia. however this international school, which plays an important role for AIT, does not have a page on wikipedia. Therefore, i think since one of many reasons why AIT is a good college is because of its facilities, includes AIT international school, therefore i want to write about AIT international school. furthermore, AIT international school also means a lot to this AIT community.

Anyway, is there any possible way i can keep writing about this international school, what are the changes those i have to make?
thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by KanitJung (talkcontribs) 10:04, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi KanitJung and thanks for your question. You article did not succeed at AfC because you dont have enough independent reliable sources to show that the school is notable enough to have a Wikipedia article. Until you have these sources, you cant write an article about AIT International School. Flat Out let's discuss it 10:20, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Aapas ki Baat

Ali.wali.4550 , the deletion template on Aapas ki Baat can only be removed by admin after the discussion is closed. You don't have enough independent sources to support notability and the article fails WP:GNG. I can't help you with google search results. Flat Out let's discuss it 10:34, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Help

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bempton.. I am trying to add historical significant information on my appointment as an established resident of Bempton with a Heritage Plaque on my Historic Cottage,to show that I am 1) The First Bridlington Town Crier since 1901. 2)Hold the Record as The World's Loudest Town Crier 3)Made a Special Pronouncement for the Royal Visit of HRH Prince Charles & HRH Duchess Of Cornwall. I have also tried to include a picture in Town Criers Uniform & the Blue Heritage Plaque highlighting the appointment in The Queens Diamond Jubilee. There are persons within my village who have a grudge against my appointment & achievement and who it appears have twice removed my post details. I would ask for your assistance to ennsure this historically significant detail is recorded on the Bempton Wikipedia Page. Thank you. Lancashire Cheese

Lancashire cheese there are a few issues here. 1. The article is about Bempton not you. If there is an independent reliable source about your appointment, a sentence of your appointment could be notable. 2. You have a conflict of interest and shouldn't be adding information about yourself that is supported by a reference that is your website. 3. Your record doesn't appear to be validated by any recognised body. 4. I removed the details, I live In Australia and I have no grudge against you. 5. the picture is not relevant enough to warrant being included in the article IMO. Bempton is in the District of Bridlington.
My postal address is Bempton,Bridlington ( 31.50.45.199 (talk) 13:02, 11 April 2014 (UTC) )
OK well that makes it easy. You are the Bridlington town crier and you are already mentioned in that article. Flat Out let's discuss it 13:04, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Why is a Blue Heritage Plaque not relevant to the village? 31.50.45.199 (talk) 13:22, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Why is it more relevant than any other image? Personally I think its overkill and I would contest it. I also disapprove of you using promotional language in file names - Wikipedia doesn't exist for you to promote yourself. Flat Out let's discuss it 13:25, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

The very same article was speedily deleted earlier. Flat Out let's discuss it 14:22, 11 April 2014 (UTC)
Then it is not possible to create a page once it was deleted before? Svenjka
Yes, but if you dont change anything it will just get deleted again. Flat Out let's discuss it 01:27, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

HTML error in your sig

Hi! While editing an AfD in which you participated to add a comment, I noticed that everything was highlighted gray. I use Dot's syntax highlighter, and it seemed to indicate that there was an unclosed tag in your sig. Here it is (with the offending tag highlighted):

<font color="blue">Flat Out</font> <font color="red"><span class="smallcaps" style="font-variant:small-caps;">let's discuss it</span></font>

For the benefit of those with syntax highlighters, I would ask that you change your sig to (moved some tags around for clarity):

<font color="blue">User:Flat Out</font>&nbsp;<span class="smallcaps" style="font-variant:small-caps;color:red">let's discuss it</span>

This would produce:

Flat Out let's discuss it

Thank you very much! APerson (talk!) 22:57, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

APerson funnily enough I have been using that signature for over a year without anyone raising an issue, however I have changed it per your request. Cheers Flat Out let's discuss it 01:37, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! Most of the time, HTML nesting errors in sigs don't really raise an issue if they don't interfere with content below the sig; however, as I said in my original post, they can be annoying to users with syntax highlighters who find everything below the sig highlighted.APerson (talk!) 01:41, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up Flat Out let's discuss it 01:43, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

I had thought that I could amend the information in a more neutral way for you & I have been trying to do that

I will leave your edits as they now are and not make any more changes — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.50.45.199 (talk) 10:43, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Kilwinning Academy Improvement

I left references and the reliable source is the school which this article is about; is that not reliable enough source?

What I add is correct and references of the information added were added to the bottom of the page. I would much appreciate the help to correct where I am going wrong. The information I have been adding to this article improves the article; what I add is correct and true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AmazeMeGreat (talkcontribs) 13:46, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Sorry but the sources you use are not reliable. Please read WP:42. Another editor has edited the article and added some references. Flat Out let's discuss it 13:51, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Your signature's talk page URL is not correct. Quinrm (talk) 13:53, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, I changed (see above) after feedback from another editor. I'll fix it now Flat Out let's discuss it 14:02, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Sourced Unreliable? Kilwinning Academy.

I am very confused. The sources which I provided were unreliable yet they were directly from the website of the school which that article is about; so giving an official website as a source(s) is not allowed?

The reverted edition of the page, as edited by John and AllyD is horrendous. Wikipedia is meant to be the free Encyclopaedia, yet what is encyclopaedic about Kilwinning Academy. The changes and additions I made to that article were just, I am the only person of late who is actually updating and adding information to that article.

Instead of removing all the information on that article, surely it would be better for you editors to help and support new editors? If you were content with removing the information which you said was in breach of Wiki's rules - which I fully understand - then why would you editors completely take everything I had added away? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AmazeMeGreat (talkcontribs) 14:32, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

AmazeMeGreat, I'm happy to help you but you need to listen and read relevant policies. Wikipedia articles are supposed to be fair summaries of what independent, secondary sources have to say about a subject. The school's website is not a reliable source for most content because it is not independent of the subject (the academy). Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not just a copy of what is on the subjects website. Flat Out let's discuss it 14:38, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
I apologise if I have broken any policies of Wikipedia - I did not mean to. I only had the intention of improving the Kilwinning Academy article, I thought the website would be a reliable source because that was the official website of the information. Thank-you for offering to help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AmazeMeGreat (talkcontribs) 14:51, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
AmazeMeGreat there is no need to apologise, feel free to ask me for help any time. Flat Out let's discuss it 14:56, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

ZORDANLIGHTER's block notice

Just FYI, he is entitled to remove that - it's declined unblock appeals that have to stay, per WP:REMOVED. Yunshui  11:56, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Really? I cant remember the number of times I have seen it said they couldn't. Thanks Yunshui I appreciate you setting me straight. Flat Out let's discuss it 11:59, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
No worries; I spent ages thinking exactly the same thing, even *whisper* after becoming an admin. That particular policy has been a bugbear of mine from a while back, so I've gotten to know it pretty well. FWIW, I'm of the opinion that block notices should be a permanent fixture for the duration of the block, but the community currently thinks otherwise. Yunshui  12:02, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Comment

Hi Flat out. Your comments have been received. However, just as you suggested,I see the mandate to discuss with you the relevancy of that information to the article of the subject. Perhaps, I will appeal to know your reson before rendering my submission. Suffice to say that I believe there are many other information that can be gathered to add up to the main article, however not all are of such significant weight to definitely include. Of such is that information. Want to know your take and why it's justified. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kojoofosu (talkcontribs) 13:50, 20 April 2014 (UTC)

Kojoofosu, I am sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about. If you are referring to this edit then please do not delete sourced information without using an edit summary. Flat Out let's discuss it 01:55, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
