Sri Lanka Articles

[edit]

Sir, very please to see a reverend bikku joining our editing community. Welcome!--Chanaka L (talk) 04:48, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, I reviewed the two articles. The first one seems alright, but more inline citations would be helpful. It seems to me the title of the article is the problem. In such cases moving the page is the solution. But as you have created the destination page, moving won't work now. So request a page move , an admin will perform the task. The article tagged for clean up is due to absence of references and wikilinks. Hope you can both these to improve the article. If you have any further problems please ask.--Chanaka L (talk) 06:01, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sir, usually I avoid assessing articles I've written. I've done this for nearly all my articles except for entry level stub articles and list articles. I would ask a fellow editor to do the assessment for me. But self-assessing is not a serious crime in here, it is a best practice. To have a B-class, I would say the article need a picture of the subject, expanded lead section, and a little more prose. Sir, Template:Buddhism in Sri Lanka might help you in the future to see what articles need to written. Nice work so far, and keep it up.--Chanaka L (talk) 02:39, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like venerable thera know how to be humorous and philosophical at the same time. LOL. The photos found in the internet can be only uploaded if they either in Public domain or if it had released under the GFDL or Creative commons license. I'd like to write some Buddhism related articles but I don't have many decent references though I've written Migettuwatte Gunananda Thera and rewrite a clean version of Temple of the Tooth when copyrighted material found there.--Chanaka L (talk) 06:13, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sir, I am sorry, forgot to tell some important points. 1) Katukurunde Nanananda Thera is eligible for WP:DYK, nominate it ASAP, as the new articles should nominated within 5 days of creation. 2) When page move is performed source page's content is overwritten in the destination page. So I think you may want to save the destination page's content. Are you aware of the redirects. If the searchability is the prime concern for page move, and if the title with diacritics is the correct title perhaps redirecting the diacritic-less name to the other will solve the searchability issue. Titles with accents is not unseen in Wikipedia. eg. Bodhipakkhiyādhammā. Kind regards--Chanaka L (talk) 03:00, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sir, I moved the nomination from September 5 to September 2. We take nomination date as the date of creation or the date expansion began. I agree with you then to have a diacritic-less name to be consistent with other biographies. I am not sure about the Google search however our internal searches shows redirects as distinguish blue links however. Regards--Chanaka L (talk) 07:22, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's my pleasure, sir. Weldone!--Chanaka L (talk) 03:46, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Erik for the note. I have provided justification in Talk:Bhikkhu Analayo. --Foresterr (talk) 09:26, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I see your note; there are a couple replies there. Let me know if I can help with anything. Thanks, ErikHaugen (talk) 14:56, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A new article to replace the problematic content has been up at Talk:Bhikkhu_Analayo/Temp since 5th Oct. It would be good if the copyright infringement notice could be removed and this new content moved. --Foresterr (talk) 06:19, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Wikimedia Community User Group Sri Lanka

[edit]
Dear Foresterr,

Thank you for your contributions to the Wikimedia Projects. As a Sri Lankan editor, you are warmly invited to join the official Wikimedia Community User Group Sri Lanka and to subscribe to its mailing list, Wikimedia-LK.

The user group currently includes volunteers from Wikipedia and other projects, from the English, Sinhala, and Tamil speaking communities. It is the Wikimedia-approved platform for editors from Sri Lanka to enable wider collaboration, for both online and offline projects.

With your support, we hope to organize cross-project content improvement drives as part of online projects, as well as organize in-person edit-a-thons, training sessions, photowalks, and other such activities, in the near future. The ultimate goal(s) of these initiatives is to improve the overall coverage and quality of topics relating to Sri Lanka, as well as encourage new editors to join the Wikimedia community, while simultaneously empowering and retaining our existing team of editors.

There are no mandatory obligations for members who choose join the community, other than the usual editing rules for online projects, and the friendly space policy for in-person projects. You may also (or instead) subscribe to the mailing list, where any member could initiate discussions with volunteers across projects, notify members of events and meetings, stay up to date with competitions, organize your own events, and so on.

See you on board, and Happy Editing!
