Articles for Deletion

[edit]

I'll be happy to assist you in nominating commented out as a courtesy for deletion. (you can reply here, I'll watchlist you) Ideogram 10:13, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you used the {{helpme}} tag. How may I help you? When you've asked your question, please put the tag back so we know to check back. Alternatively, you can join the Wikipedia Bootcamp IRC channel to get real-time help. (Use the web-based client to get instant access.)

By the way, please place it on this page ONLY. --Pilot|guy 19:55, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have started to put article "Greg Bravo (Gary Scott)" up for an article for deletion. I am following directions "How to list pp. for deletion". When I put ===[[{{{pg}}}]]=== {{{text}}} on top of the article page (above the dispute tag), I didn't get what I expected so I have erased it. I tried it again and previewed it and again came up with no AfD tag. --Fortheloveofhampsters 19:59, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've nominated the article for you, here. You may want to check out User:Jnothman/afd_helper for an easier way to nominate in the future. If you have any more queries, please feel free to drop me a line :) --Xyrael T 20:07, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As the nominator you can comment but not vote. Ideogram 21:47, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? First of all AfD is not a vote. But the idea that nominators can't "vote" isn't any sort of policy or guideline. Where are you getting that? · rodii · 14:50, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just in case you were tempted, I'd recommend you not respond to Musicknight/Countdewiki at all anymore. Ideogram 02:05, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your advice came a little too late. It didn't look as if he had realized that the article was up for deletion, so I informed him. I just responded to his allegations that the Billboard books and the newspaper article were not valid and/or not available and/or useless. I am not going to respond to him anymore.

My hunch is that Musicknight/Countdewiki/rockandsoulpatrol are all the same person--namely Greg Bravo himself, and that he is pretending to be in London. Notice the sudden appearance of a Cockney accent (not very convincing considering he is writing and not talking.) He has an American OnLine account too. (Please delete this last since it is a bit inflammatory and I have tried so hard so far in not responding in kind to him) --Fortheloveofhampsters 03:19, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fortheloveofhampsters as Ronald Regan would say, "Now there you go again!" You need to back up your assertions and allegations with some real facts! And your references to Musicknight's alleged "Cockney" accent sounds discriminatory against our British friends, and are indeed inflammatory, also mean-spirited!

Please allow me to disabuse you of your theory: First of all, I am trained in a very different field, and do not have any musical talent or ability. Don't know one note from the other, and even failed miserably at chorus in grade school. I do love to listen to my old music and watch my "TV Land" programs, though! Anyhow, I was brought here by Xyrael T (who left a message on my user talk page) to voice any comments I may have on the matter, but now that you have posted the article for deletion there is really nothing left to debate in this forum.

Also, as Ideogram has duly noted above, since you are the nominator, you must not vote. If you already did, please remove yourself and your vote from the process. My thoughts now are that all involved should cool off and shake hands. Life is way too short to get high blood pressure over such non-issues! Why does everyone get so personal on the pages of these articles of all types? One thing I'll agree with you on, in a way, is that it certainly appears that some involved in the article seem to have some kind of connection or personal knowledge and vendetta to carry out against the subject like he owes them child support or something! (But I have no proof so I will not make that assertion.)

Help has arrived

[edit]

Hi, how can we help you? You can ask your question here and place {{helpme}} so we know to check back. Or you can join us online in the #wikipedia-bootcamp IRC channel.--Commander Keane 04:42, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the article, Steam (band), adding the names of the early trio and the later band members. The formatting is awful. Could you please correct this or tell me how to correct it? Thank you. --Fortheloveofhampsters 04:53, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. The problem is that you started the lines with a space (which make the formatting awful). I will swap that for a bulleted list.--Commander Keane 04:56, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you check out the formatting of the article [[Steam (band)]? In the Sources at the bottom of the page, the newspaper names and book names need to be underlined.

I have formatted the book and newspaper names appropriately in the sources section. I believe that i can remove the helpme tag now, since I solved the problem. Contact me if you need more help. --No1lakersfan 01:14, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I recently nominated Greg Bravo (Gary Scott) for deletion because of misleading and unverifiable information; this caused a flurry of vandalism which resulted in several editors being banned. I have also worked on the article, Steam (band) which is a link from the Bravo article. (I have added the names of the musicians, the fact that they were all from Bridgeport Connecticut, and references.) Yesterday, it was reverted by, I think, one of the blocked editors, who is now not signing in (AOL account). I tried to revert it back but somehow lost all the formatting. It took a while to get it back to normal. Last night, the same unsigned editor reverted the Steam article back, removing my references and the names of the musicians in the band. The version that this editor prefers has the musicians coming from NY and does not specifically name the lead singer or any of the musicians and leaves the reader to believe that Greg Bravo could still be the singer.

If I revert this back to my previous version, it will be the third. What should I do? I don't want to get into the same time-consuming edit war as I did with the Bravo article. Thanks.--Fortheloveofhampsters 11:11, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yoour best bet might be to try the help desk, so that you can get in touch with a moderator. I am not able to do anything about this, because I do not have the admin privileges needed to fix this problem. For now, I will leave the helpme tag so that if an admin stops by, he/she can help. --No1lakersfan 12:35, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please revert article Steam (band) to June 23 20:06 version. Last time I tried to do this, I lost all the formatting. An entirely new article was written after the June 23 20:06 version which is unclear about who the lead singer is. (See the article Greg Bravo (Gary Scott).--Fortheloveofhampsters 19:26, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bring this up on the article's talk page - someone will sort it out there.--Commander Keane 19:39, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what to do with the above comment (and one belo) and others (on user talk: Romeovoid. I believe Cooperstown77 is a new sockpuppet of the Greg Bravo (Gary Scott) problem. This article was recently deleted.

The article Steam (band)--which was linked from the Bravo article-- was again reverted to a version that does not clearly state who the lead singer was of the band's only hit. (Refer to my note above the Cyberstalking is a Crime heading. I would appreciate your input.--Fortheloveofhampsters 05:09, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your help request

[edit]

Hi. I saw that you have requested help. Could you summarise and tell us as to how we can assist you? Thanks and regards, --Nearly Headless Nick 13:23, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, {{helpme}} is for use by newcomers for help with basic editing. For matters such as yours, please try posting a concise summary to the Administrator's Noticeboard and our admins should be able to deal with it. Cheers, Tangotango 13:29, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What a time you've had

[edit]

Just wanted to drop by and offer moral support for the heck of a time you've had with this vandal, and to let you know that if you have any other problems, you can feel free to leave me a message on my talk page (User talk:Essjay) and I'll be happy to help. Also, a lot of other people watch my page, and should be able to help as well.

Additionally, you're welcome to remove the nasty things the vandal put on here; you're not required to keep harassment from vandals around. Feel free to put it in an archive, or delete it outright; most posts should be archived, rather than deleted, but threats from vandals can be removed entirely. Don't let this slow you down; we're glad you're here, and there are plenty of people around to help out when you need it. Essjay (TalkConnect) 03:15, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lo Piccolo article

[edit]

Hi. I am interested in the Sicilian Mafia and was reading the Lo Piccolo article. (I did some minor style edits but nothing substantive since I am not an expert.) The last paragraph explaining why Lo Piccolo's stature in the Palermo region is disputed. It is very confusing--at least to me--and the references do not make it any clearer. Would you be able to clarify what the issues are? Thank you for a great article! --Fortheloveofhampsters 02:00, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the editing, it improved the article. I am not a native English speaker, so any improvements in style and grammar are very wellcome. However, you need to be careful with editing. The part on Cinà being the personal physician was altered in such a way that it changed the content. I will have a look at the paragraph on Lo Piccolo’s stature. I see what you mean and will try to fix it. Mafia Expert 12:16, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lo Piccolo images
