A tag has been placed on J. Roberts & Son (Gunmakers) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 17:18, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for May 3[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited J. Roberts & Son (Gunmakers), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Paul Roberts. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your edits[edit]

Hi! I see that you've got a mass of notices on this page, but I don't see where anyone has explained a few basic things to you. Very briefly, with no sugar:

  • You may not copy material from elsewhere on the internet into Wikipedia. It's almost always a violation of copyright to do so. What you write must be in your own words
  • You may freely copy stuff from other parts of Wikipedia, but you must say where you are copying from; the easiest way is in your edit summary, something like "start this page, using material from James Purdey & Sons as a template"
  • If you have a personal or professional connection to any of the topics you've written about, you have what we call a conflict of interest and you should declare it, either in an edit summary or on a talk-page, if ever you edit any such article; in general, you are strongly discouraged from directly editing any affected articles.

I'm afraid the rather unfriendly reception you've had here is because you've inadvertently stepped over some fairly firmly-drawn lines – there's a steep learning-curve, as you've seen. If in doubt about anything, you can always ask (here is fine); you can use {{help me}} to get a prompt response. I'll leave you an invitation to the Teahouse, which is a good place to take beginner questions. Good luck! Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:24, 10 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Writing style[edit]

Hi, thank you for your work here. I noticed that you had expanded the article Pigeon-shooting. Please could you rewrite it in a more formal encyclopaedic style, e.g. not referring to the intention of the article? – Fayenatic London 07:35, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
