Welcome!

Hello, Fvenegas, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like CTF Tracker, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. A tag has been placed on CTF Tracker requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedily deleted CTF Tracker

[edit]

Please note: Pages that violate copyright, cannot be restored. To use web content on Wikipedia, you must either

  • Get a compatible Creative Commons license placed on the web site
  • Release the material by e-mail and obtain an ORTS ticket which is then placed on the talk page of the Article before the web page content is copied.

Please review these instructions at WP:COPYREQ in order to use copyright material..

Also please note that creating and editing of Articles with which you have an interest (you said "I work for CollabNet as a Technical Marketing Manager and I was instructed to post this information about our issue tracker") is very strongly discouraged - see WP:COI, and pages that just serve to promote a company or it's product are very likely to be quickly deleted as SPAM - See WP:SPAM.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:41, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Message from Talk Page - Thank you for the insight and response. I was not aware of some of the things you have mentioned. May I ask, what is the proper way to create an article...will using the article wizard be a better solution to posting an article?

I have never used the Article Wizard, so I can't comment - I've added a "better" welcome menu above - with more links to the important policies. I usually create new pages in a user sandbox - you are allowed to make subpages in your user space for this - e.e. if you still wanted to make a page for CTF Tracker then you could create User:Fvenegas/CTF Tracker, then when it is more or less complete you can always ask at the Help Desk for comments before moving the page to Article space. Most of the reasons to delete pages do not apply in User space, only the G1 to G12 apply at WP:CSD (note that still includes copyright issues). One way around the Conflict of Interest problem is to use Articles for creation - where you supply the page in rough draft, with all the references you have, and someone else will polish up the page in the preferred way if it is possible, or will tell you what extra wiould be required.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:31, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
