Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, GalenSutureSound, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Andrew Huang (musician), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Don't Panic!

[edit]

Hi Galen.

Please don't panic about the message above. It is the standard message for new users who may have a conflict of interests and it is a bit hardass for your particular case. I don't think your contributions so far have been problematic and I have not reverted any of them. Please just keep any potential conflict of interests in mind and remember to make disclosures when you need to.

Also, please be aware that our definition of a minor edit is very minor so you should not tag edits such as yours as minor in future. Don't worry. Lots of people make this mistake. Minor edits are really minor things like fixing spelling, grammar and punctuation. For details please see Help:Minor edit. DanielRigal (talk) 18:05, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daniel,
Thanks very much for your messages here, I really appreciate them as I get my feet wet as a Wikipedian. I've just updated my User page to disclose my employment arrangement with Andrew Huang to lay the groundwork for future page updates. I also really appreciate the tip about minor edits, good to know.
Thanks again! GalenSutureSound (talk) 18:17, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Moops. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Andrew Huang (musician) have been undone because they did not appear constructive. Hi Moops, thanks for your interest in my updates. I'd love some clarification on why my recent updates to Andrew Huang's page weren't viewed as constructive? The notes about Andrew's app and new synthesizer module release are if particular interest. Thanks very much. GalenSutureSound (talk) 15:43, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's probably because of the promotional nature of what you're adding. Referencing business endeavors with primary sources is heavily discouraged. Mbdfar (talk) 22:54, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
