A tag has been placed on Viktor Johansson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.themillers.co.uk/news/2020/september/read--millers-boost-goalkeeping-options-with-johansson-signing/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ... discospinster talk 18:20, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, where do you get them from then? Gameshowandsportsfan2007 (talk) 18:21, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The text was way to close to https://www.themillers.co.uk/news/2020/september/read--millers-boost-goalkeeping-options-with-johansson-signing/. For example you dirrectly copied and pasted "The 21-year-old rose through the ranks at boyhood club Hammarby in his native Sweden and quickly built and impressive reputation".©Geni (talk) 00:40, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There are loads of example of this! I’m going to create a new one with better wording and i’ll ask you before moving it from my userspace, is that OK? He certainly needs one. Gameshowandsportsfan2007 (talk) 08:42, 4 November 2020 (UTC)Geni[reply]

An article you recently created, 2008 UEFA Futsal Under-21 Championship, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 18:22, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on WWTBAM US requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. — Sagotreespirit (talk) 19:38, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chiedozie Ogbene

[edit]

Because sources say he is Irish, so that is how we describe him. GiantSnowman 19:38, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gameshowandsportsfan2007, see Wikipedia:Verifiability for details. Robby.is.on (talk) 19:55, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at my latest edit of{https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Chiedozie_Ogbene&action=history} he is a citizen of both nations therefore he is “Nigerian-Irish” but like i say we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. 20:50, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
Nobody is doubting that, and that's why he is in Category:Nigerian emigrants to Ireland and Category:Irish people of Nigerian descent. But Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people, and sources say he is 'Irish', not 'Nigerian'. In that respect his heritage does not go in the lede, and is suitable being mentioned in the 'International career' section as it now does. Let me know if you have any suggested changes - let's try and work together on this. GiantSnowman 21:29, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I will do. Don’t you think it should be Nigerian-Irish until he chooses who to play for then it changes to that. i’ve changed Ethan Ampadu to Welsh as he’s chosen his nationality. I’m happy to work with you. Gameshowandsportsfan2007 (talk) 21:31, 3 November 2020 (UTC)![reply]
Standard wording for people born and raised in one country but who represent another is to say 'X is a footballer who plays for Wikipedia FC. Born in England, he represents Wales at international level' or similar - this is ling established. Ogbene is slightly different as he was raised in Ireland. GiantSnowman 21:38, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He was raised in Nigeria till he was 5, ill have a proper chat tomorrowGameshowandsportsfan2007 (talk) 21:40, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

True, but I think this is similar to Raheem Sterling? GiantSnowman 13:56, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
GiantSnowman I think the rule should be if the player can represent multiple nations its standard wording until they chose who to play for, then they take that nations nationality, if they can only represent one it stays the same no doubts about it. Gameshowandsportsfan2007 (talk) 16:45, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Probably worth raising at WT:FOOTBALL? GiantSnowman 17:54, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
GiantSnowman do you agree with what i’m saying?. Gameshowandsportsfan2007 (talk) 18:23, 4 November 2020 (UTC) also what is your opinion on the message i left you. Gameshowandsportsfan2007 (talk) 18:23, 4 November 2020 (UTC) aka Leftiepete[reply]

Gameshowandsportsfan2007, For the most part, editing other's userpages without asking isn't acceptable. If it is, there's strings attached. —moonythedwarf (Braden N.) 20:52, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Moonythedwarf I won’t in future if people don’t edit mine. Do i have the right to tell people off for editing mine? Gameshowandsportsfan2007 (talk) 20:58, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Updating stats

[edit]

Hi,

When you edit footballer's appearances and goals, you MUST update the club-update or pc-update field so we can tell when they were last updated.

Telfordbuck (talk) 17:05, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Will do, sorry. Gameshowandsportsfan2007 (talk) 17:18, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]

Hi, please do not move articles when there is already an open requested move, as you did at Spouse of the prime minister of the United Kingdom. You can instead participate at the discussion (Talk:Spouse of the prime minister of the United Kingdom#Requested move 8 November 2020) and state your support for the proposed move.
