Thanks for your message. I understand what you say. However, I think that better than creating pages that are empty (just one link), it is best -when hoping that someone will create an article- to make a request for it (an RfA). People are more likely to pick it from there. Now, this is just my opinion. The admins will decide by themselves if an article should be deleted or not. They will read your comment in the discussion page. Cheers and good luck. --Anagnorisis 22:26, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!! --Gurubrahma 17:49, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Great work!!

[edit]

Hi, just noticed that you've been here since Jan, 2005. Am sorry if my welcome note and India related links offended you in any way. btw, great work on reverting vandalism on Mahatma Gandhi. By the time I'm spotting the vandalism on my slow net connection, you are already reverting it. Thanks, --Gurubrahma 18:09, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gurubrahma, Even though I registered in Jan, have not been active much. I was glad to see the welcome note. Thank you. Wikipedia is timing out too often. I can see how hard it would be on a slow net connection. Cheers, Ganeshk 18:19, 8 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Come again?

[edit]

Could you please explain why you reverted my edits to United States and left a notice about vandalism on my talk page? Do you prefer the 2004 figures for the Human Development Index for some reason? 80.203.115.12 01:25, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

And now you've reverted to the broken version of the United Nations Development Programme article which I just fixed. What is your problem? Please respond on my talk page. 80.203.115.12 01:29, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for restoring my edits to United States, United Nations Development Programme and WRN. Please don't blindly revert edits in the future, use the diff feature. The category addition was also done in good faith, but I realise that it's fruitless to discuss such matters with a patriotic USian like yourself. 80.203.115.12 02:02, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Redundant categories

[edit]

Ganesh,

Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. It is not necessary, however, to add general categories to articles if they already have a specific category that is more descriptive; "Category: Cities and towns of Andhra Pradesh", for example, is a more specific and descriptive subcategory of "Category: Andhra Pradesh", so that "Category: Andhra Pradesh" becomes redundant with cities and towns. Same with "Category: India"; until you started adding articles, most articles were assigned to a more descriptive subcategory.

Best,

Tom Radulovich 20:27, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Template substitution

[edit]

Hey. I see you've warned a few users for vandalism. Please subst templates by adding "subst:" to the templates; for example, {{subst:test1}}. This lowers Wikipedia's server load and helps prevent instant-spread vandalism. See Wikipedia:Subst for more information. Thanks. // Pathoschild 20:55, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hindu-Arabic numerals

Hi! User:RN moved the article to Arabic numerals despite 28 votes favoring the title "Hindu-Arabic numerals" and only 17 favoring "Arabic numerals." He argues that if we don't count voters with less that 150 (or sth like that) edits, only 56% voters "support changing the title to Hindu-Arabic numerals", while at least 60% support votes are required. However, it was agreed between all parties in the beginning of the vote that the proposal is to move the article to "Arabic numerals" from "Hindu-Arabic numerals." It was also agreed (though I thought it was very unfair) that:

  • Those opposing the move have the advantage that it won't be moved unless there's a 60% majority
  • Those supporting the move have the advantage that the person proposing the move can do the *short* opening statement.
  • For all the rest of the voting procedure both parties are equal. (quoting Francis Schonken from 21:04, 18 December 2005 (UTC))[reply]

I would definitely have preferred it the other way round, since I think an opening statement makes a HUGE difference, since many people just read the opening statement and understandably don't bother with the discussion below the votes. The present situation was accepted with the agreement that the article will be moved to "Arabic numerals" only if more than 60% voters favored that title. Thus, only 40% oppose votes were sufficient to retain the title "Hindu-Arabic numerals." In the present situation (with over 60% voters opposing the change), I find the move to "Arabic numerals" ridiculous, besides being completely unjust and unfair. Your comments will be appreciated. deeptrivia (talk) 05:08, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Good work

I, Pamri, present you this working man's barnstar, in appreciation of your efforts at INCOTW. 04:35, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ganesh, Good work on INCOTW tags. btw Jagjivan Ram doesn't seem to be tagged yet. ;) It always gives me a high to see the people I have invited with either welcome msg. or India related links work so well and selflessly. Keep up the good work and do let me know if you need any help with admin functions. --Gurubrahma 10:34, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

oops, Jagjivan Ram is tagged. dunno how it disappeared from my watch list. --Gurubrahma 10:36, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, would you like to maintain INCOTW? Basically, you have to select update it every week. Thanks, --PamriTalk 04:35, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think the current template looks quite good on the article page and need not be changed and there's no rule, it has to be consistent with {{COTWnow}}, which is distracting on the article namespace. You can also use sub-pages for new nominations as mentioned in Wikipedia:Collaborations_of_the_week#Nominating_articles. --PamriTalk 04:56, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hyderabad page

[edit]

Can you review links on Hyderabad, India page and give your comments? Chirags 20:30, 3 January 2006 (UTC) Yep, the external links. Guys are adding several on that page, in different sections. Trying to identify if it is okay, or should it be moved to a different place. The page has currently become like a portal. Chirags 20:53, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that you added

to this article and added the text that it was a pic of the Fundamental Rights. But the pic is actually of the Preamble. Thanks anyways.--May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| r 3 $ |-| t |-|) 15:26, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update on your Userpage

[edit]

Hello there.. Just a heads up that your userpage has been updated with {{User IND Wiki}} template, which replaces the previous user-box code and adds you (by default) to the respective category. Thanks. --ΜιĿːtalk 08:56, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great!!

[edit]

Hi Ganesh, thanks a ton for the work on the Wikiproject India cinema template. Didn't know that there was a template standardization. Having the category also helps greatly. I was previously thinking along lines of "Special:What links here." btw, me and Utcursch have added the older version of the template to atleast some 100 talkpages (w/o subst-ing) and they have not been added to the category, obviously. Is there a way to make them get added to the cat?? --Gurubrahma 17:45, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ganeshk! Great work on the template. Why don't you also become a member. Help is always needed! DaGizza Chat 07:42, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I saw that you are adding this to related pages - good work. --Bhadani 07:46, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please explain hopefully other than hindutva why the Gospel of Thomas was deleted by you on the appropriate sites. I hope you have plenty of time for I do and injoy editing. If it was a self promotion it would have been edited in the original. Because you do not understand Advaita except in a straight jacket form doesn't mean it wasn't relevant, although it is rather unique in its treatment I believe.

Has it ever occurred to you that Jesus studied in India at Jagganath and Leh and records are supposed to be still there. Jesus's sayings are very Vedantic and predate Sankara and Gaudapada. If more Hindus and Christians knew this it would help break down the barriers that are similar to your arguments. You friend from the 'hebrew' site is a mess ..take a look at his page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has it ever occurred to you that Hinduism isn't a religion but an umbrella for over 350 sects? If it wasn't for the belief in Jesus's uniqueness Christianity would fit in quite well...Well the Catholic and Orthodox sort not the Protestant sort.

Gospel reverts

[edit]

My response posted on your talk page. You keep changing IP addresses. So posting here.

I would be breaking the three revert rule if I revert anymore. I still see no relavance. One suggestion, do not remove other's postings on the talk pages. You had removed whatever I said on 24.207.41.230's talk page. Blanking sections of a talk page is not good Wikiquette. Please refrain. - Ganeshk 19:30, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In Indonesian, the word for horse is kuda. Some say that this word is derived from Tamil. Is this correct? Thanks. Meursault2004 18:12, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ganesh!!

[edit]

Hi, you have been doing some excellent work here, especially with Template:Andhra Pradesh and WikiProject Indian cinema. The issue regarding the latter, as you may know, has been resolved, with a bot making null edits. In the case of the former, I want it to be used as a standard for all states and UTs in India - Why don't you join Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian states and push it? I am not a member of that project 'coz am caught up in other things. btw, you may be interested in having a look at [1] and [2], especially the former with its history as well. --Gurubrahma 15:53, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
