Deletion

Please note that speedy deletion is limited to certain criteria, and that the wishes of your 'agency' do not figure in those criteria. If you were the original author, you might stand a chance under WP:CSD#G7, but you have a different name. KyCPE was the original author. If you can make a good case under Wikipedia's policies for deletion, you could try WP:PROD or WP:AFD. There is a chance that WP:CSD#G11 might work, or if you can show that the text is a violation of copyright, that would be fairly certain deletion. Peridon (talk) 17:42, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - KyCPE was the username of a former employee posting on behalf of the Council on Postsecondary Education (my agency), and we are unable to retrieve the password due her leaving no documentation and the mailbox being shut down. I'm employed in her former position, within the Communications office. We've been cleaning up our Wikipedia presence, and noticed she posted some of these articles without following Wikipedia's protocols. It would be easier to delete these than try to edit them and provide citations, since the two initiatives are old and no longer relevant.

Strictly, that account should have been blocked as it fails our username policy. I'm not going to bother now. Account names must not appear to represent organisations, and that very obviously does. We do have articles on subjects that are not current, on the basis that if they were once notable, they still are. On social media, the current situation is the thing. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, so the past still lives. I'll ping someone with (probably) more knowledge of how to deal with this @JamesBWatson:. @Peridon: I'm not sure what help you want from me. If you would like to post more specific details, I will consider whether there is anything I can do to help. In the meanwhile, I am posting a few notes in the hope they may help Ggayheart.
Ggayheart, Here are a few notes which may help you. Please feel welcome to ask me any questions you may have.
  1. I agree with Peridon that the account KyCPE should have been blocked, but there is no point in doing that now, several years after the editor left. As for your being unable to retrieve the password for that account, even if you could retrieve it, you shouldn't use the account, as Wikipedia policy is that an account is for one user only. You were therefore quite right to create a new account.
  2. Since you work for an organisation that your editing relates to, you should look at the guideline on conflict of interest. In my opinion, that guideline, like nearly all of Wikipedia's guidelines and policies, is far too long and detailed, so reading and absorbing all of it would be heavy going, but you should look through it and make sure you understand the main points.
  3. Peridon is also right in saying that we don't delete articles on request of organisations involved. (Except in a few special circumstances, but none of those circumstances applies in this case.) However, looking at the articles, I am far from sure that their subjects satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines, and if they don't then they should be deleted for that reason. I have looked at Project Graduate, and I am confident that it doesn't satisfy the notability guidelines, so I have proposed it for deletion. I have also traced and downloaded a copy of the main source cited as a reference for Double the Numbers, and I see that the source does not actually mention "Double the Numbers", so it certainly does nothing to indicate notability. I don't yet know whether the other references do much better, but if they don't then that article should probably be deleted too. I will also try to remember to check KnowHow2GOKy when I have more time.
