Yes, I am aware that Catholic Scots are proud of their Catholic roots, but the point that the source doesn't state their current religious beliefs, would suggest us to be careful before posting anything on this issue. Belgium Football[edit]

Also, RSCA does NOT have an official dutch name, it's only official name is RSCA.

Robert I of Scotland[edit]

Fish (singer)[edit]

If there is citable source for Fish being Presbytarian, why not cite it, rather than telling people to go look? personally, I think Fish is no such thing, given his clear lyrical stance on the subject, but I could be wrong, and it is only interpretation.

Taking your points in reverse order - daft as it may seem on the surface, asking the man himself is not sufficient: original research. You have to be able to cite another reputable published source that others can also consult for verifcation. If there's a reputable written biograpy, then by all means simply cite that, and Robert's your evuncular relative.

Secondly belonging to what is notionally a protestant community does not make the man a worshipping protestant Christian. It simply means that he was born into a certain segment within the historical social divisions of his community. Further, Presbyterianism is the dominant protestant denomination in Scotland. Recreating categories[edit]

Please stop re-creating categories that have been previously deleted under a similar name. Please stop creating categories that fail to follow the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (categories) policy.

Hi man, what's the deal with the two categories I made myself? I mean, no harm was intended, news were brought in, everything was true and there are proofs of what I was saying, so what?

I need to know why a simple Wikipedian can't create what he pleases unless he tells lies of course...

I'm afraid to say this, but this is the nth time that some of you users act so blindly...

No-one dared telling me I was wrong in creating those categories regarding Cat Stevens, so what's this rude behaviour now? Couldn't you just ADVICE ME? There are so many different ways to inform people and mostly Wikipedians (who are NOT terrorists or bastards, are they?), I don't like this way of warning free and harmless people like me.

    1. A "simple Wikipedian" is supposed to read the policy and guidelines. I cited the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (categories) policy.
    2. If it's the nth time, you might take the hint that there's a problem!
    3. Before adding such things to Cat Stevens (or any other article), you are supposed to read the history, where you would have immediately been aware that similar categories had been removed previously (and quite recently).
    4. In the English language, "please" isn't considered rude.
    5. When replying on a Talk page, please read the instructions on the top of my Talk page, citing Help:Talk page#How to keep a two-way conversation readable.
    6. Next time, think about it a little bit more....

Come on, you're so strict!

I joined in this thing called Wikipedia due to passion and only passion, anyone can make mistakes, I didn't read a lot of rules, hoping I'd never get out of any, knowing I generally mean no harm, and then when I failed other people kindly said "you should do this and not that, but okay, have a good time".

Probably they enjoyed the same passion as me and understood the way I made those mistakes? I guess it is.

You did say "please", I felt it was a bit too formal compared to other Wikipedians, that's all. I thought you'd be a bit more welcoming...

What if I saw the history of that page then? Would it EXPLAIN why those categories had been removed? IT SIMPLY DOESN'T! It just says "removed": I can stick to the rules, but that won't stop me from discussing about it: why were those pages so wrong then? ISN'T CAT STEVENS BOTH A GREEK-CYPRIOT AND SWEDISH BRITON? Yes he is.

Any answers?

In answer to your false statement, no Cat Stevens is not and has never been a Greek-Cypriot citizen, nor is he notable for being a Greek-Cypriot advocate. Likewise, the non-existant "Swedish Briton". WP:NOT!
Also, please don't type your date and time in your signature line, use the ~~~~ convention instead. You appear to have typed the above a couple of hours in the future....
And please use preview, rather than 4 edits to add one section. That's hard on the servers, and a waste of resources. Next time, think about it a little bit more....

Appropriate behaviour[edit]

  • I'll thank you to confine your edits to my discussion page, NOT my personal profile.
  • Irrespective of how "passionate" you are, you still haven't provided a reputable citation for Fish being Presbyterian.
  • "Passion" as you call it is no excuse for not stopping to think and not following the guidelines.

In answer to your question what's wrong with quoting answers from your own research? I'll tell you - it's not verifiable by anyone else, except by duplicating your research. Your research has to be taken on trust, which simply isn't appropriate for the quality of information this project is striving to achieve. (See WP:NOR for policy on this subject.)

As I've already said - when you find a reputable citable source for the assertion (which does not include arbitrary, unverified web sites) that Fish is Persbyterian by upbringing, then all's well and good to include it in the WP article about him. Until then, no go... (That's another basic WP policy (see WP:V, in particular the annotation about verifiability, not truth.)

So long as you fail to follow guidelines, other people will simply follow up behind you undoing the damage. This is wasteful both of their time and, frankly, of yours. You accuse "us users" of acting blindly, which ironically is what you are doing as long as you choose to remain deliberately ignorant of policy. Those categories went under the name "British people of Greek Cypriot DESCENT" and "British people of Swedish DESCENT", so please DON'T PUT WORDS I NEVER SAID IN MY MOUTH, OKAY?

Cat Stevens IS a British citizen of both Greek-Cypriot and Swedish descent, LIKE IT OR NOT, you'd better accept it, 'cos I'm going to state it all again as soon as I WILL WANT TO.

Try and deny that, and you'll be the one who's denying a FACT.

Enough for mr Simpson, for good I hope.

Cat Stevens ancient history[edit]

Hello - do you by any chance have a citation or recall what your source was for this sentence With interests in both art and music, he and his mother traveled to Gävle, Sweden, where he started developing his drawing skills after being influenced by his uncle Hugo, a painter in Cat Stevens? Sorry if I wasn't clear - I wasn't being sarcastic above - I was really saying thank you! I saw your reply on the Cat Stevens talk page and came here to thank you for it - and I appreciate your taking the time and writing on my page too! I',m just trying to find some kind of source to add as a citation. But about the spelling of his original name: yusufislam.com clearly says it's "steven" (see here) so I'm going to stick to that unless another reliable source comes up - it's his own website, after all. I'm still interested in Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam. I am really sorry about other people's behaviour on your talk page, I certainly hope you will not put me in a category of a mean spirited person! Actually, I was hoping to see you return and help. I've so many questions, like about some songs, and such, having discovered so many things in the Magicat.com site that aren't obivous to those who haven't applied themselves with dedication to find them(!) Do you have any knowledge of the (apparent?) co-written song, "Honeyman", that I found both there and on You Tube, with Elton John AND Cat Stevens? It's puzzling me. And any information or sources for Alun Davies; an article which User: Tvoz (a sensible and respectable editor) and I co-started --mostly on my insistence, and it needs some TLC. Seeing him re-appear playing with Yusuf Islam was such a JOY!
