Hi, Gilo. Your edit summary here said "merge from other article". You added the info box and "The balloon had reportedly hit power lines before crashing."
As I started the now re-directed Carterton hot air balloon accident, and it didn't come from there (the page wasn't stated yet!) could you advise if there was a third article related to the hot air balloon incident in New Zealand today? - 220 of Borg 03:27, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

There is an article 2012 Caterton balloon crash which provided that content and the NY Daily reference which asserted the collision with the power lines. There is also an article 2012 Carterton balloon crash which corrected the spelling mistake in the first article title; both are now redirects to 2012 Carterton hot air balloon crash which had been started first. GILO   A&E 03:34, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
Thank you

Speedy Deletion of Certified Sex Addiction Therapist

Hi Gilo1969, you recently deleted the new article Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, which I created yesterday. I understand the reason for the deletion. I did not save the text -- is there any way for me still to get a copy of the text of this deleted article? TBliss (talk) 20:07, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi. You can request that the content of the deleted page is restored to a user subpage for editing, or is emailed to you, on this page; however, please be aware that your request may be turned down as one of the reasons that the page was deleted was as a copyright infringement (see here). Best wishes, GILO   A&E 20:23, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

I added the references which showed that the stub (there's not much there there) is entirely factual.Ericl (talk) 17:07, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Checks out now. Regards, GILO   A&E 17:22, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Recent contributions

Hello there. Thank you for your contributions to Ruins & Relics, I appreciate it, however, you added in some sources and removed some of mine. I took time and effort into finding those sources and I don't appreciate you removing them. Other than that, thank you for your help, I can take it from here. Creativity97 Talk? 17:16, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

The external links I removed were duplicates of the inline references you had supplied. I did not add any sources. Regards, GILO   A&E 17:22, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
Oh okay thank you :) Very sorry for the mix-up. Creativity97 Talk? 19:46, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

I'm a bit confused, I just uploaded a page Jamie Bloom and you have requested it be deleted, can you please explain why and what I need to do to the page so that it is not deleted. New Page Patrolling

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. I'm just letting you know that I have deleted Marshall Paulk as WP:G3 (vandalism) and not WP:A7 (notability) as you had tagged it. Please see WP:NPP and WP:CSD for details. Thanks, and happy patrolling! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:38, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello Gilo1969!

I just wanted to thank you for helping me with the page that I created, Great Western Loop. The formatting stuff that you did was awesome and being a relatively new editor, it saved me hours of figuring out how the site works. Thanks for the help!!!

Church of St Cadoc, Raglan, Monmouthshire

Thanks for the very quick and excellent sorting of my rubbish references in the article above. Can you tell me, is this easy to do? I'm creating quite a lot of articles, mainly about Grade I and II* listed buildings in Monmouthshire, but I only know one way to do the references (using the Ref Icon), and the articles keep getting hit with "Linkrot" tags. Any, simple!, advice much appreciated. KJP1 (talk) 11:32, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi KJP1. I use Reflinks to do this. It fills in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script:
// Add [[WP:Reflinks]] launcher in the toolbox on left
addOnloadHook(function () {
 addPortletLink(
  "p-tb", // toolbox portlet
  "http://toolserver.org/~dispenser/cgi-bin/webreflinks.py/" + wgPageName
   + "?client=script&citeweb=on&overwrite=&limit=30&lang=" + wgContentLanguage,
  "Reflinks" // link label
)});
onto Special:MyPage/skin.js, then paste the bare URL (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page!) It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for PDF documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really well. Best wishes, GILO   A&E 12:21, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Many thanks. Looks fairly simple, even for a techno-fool like me. I shall give it a try. Thanks again. KJP1 (talk) 12:30, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Just tried it with the above, and it's great!!!!! Many, many thanks. Now I just have to convert all the other ones I've done in the old way - groan. Thanks again. KJP1 (talk) 13:35, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:54, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on List of street names of drugs, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

It is nothing but an WP:DIRECTORY

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. St John Chrysostom Δόξατω Θεώ 04:47, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

The article List of street names of drugs has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOTDIRECTORY, WP:NOTDICTIONARY, etc. Inherently non-encyclopedic exhaustive listing of names (most that no one's ever heard of) for various illicit drugs. Even if it was encyclopedic, it would be unusable due to the uber-thesaurus-dictionary glut, let alone lack of sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. St John Chrysostom Δόξατω Θεώ 10:23, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Vodka Face

Hey, I saw your prod endorsement and wanted to ask you about that page since you seem to have some experience in new page patrolling. II looked through the criteria for speedy deletion and none of them seemed to fit, but this article clearly doesn't belong. Since Prod takes at least a week to delete, is there a faster way to get pages like that one deleted? AdventurousSquirrel (talk) 22:16, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

There doesn't seem to be any way of speeding things up in this case. Some admins will delete articles like this under CSD-A7, although it seems to fall outside the criteria (individuals, animals, organizations, web content). I have been pulled up for tagging outside these criteria in the past, so I tend to stick to them. Good luck! GILO   A&E 22:42, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
Okay thanks. Just thought I would check. Yea I think I've tried using A7 before too and been denied. Oh well. AdventurousSquirrel (talk) 22:45, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Reflinks

Hi again. Back in February you showed me how to use the above tool and I absolutely loved it. However, it's stopped working. Now, when I try to save pages having used it, firstly it doesn't give me the "Go to Edit Page option" and when I bang on regardless it spews ############## symbols all over the page. Any simple advice? I really miss the tool which was so helpful. Best regards and thanks again. KJP1 (talk) 22:46, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi. It's working fine for me, using Firefox as my browser; it does not work properly using IE. If it is not a browser problem, you could raise a question on the Reflinks talk page here. Best of luck, GILO   A&E 23:15, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: User/Gunkarta/Userboxes/Pluralism

Hello Gilo1969, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User/Gunkarta/Userboxes/Pluralism, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: there is no reason why this user should not create a userbox. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 16:01, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Note for the record - sorry, you were quite right, I missed the vital "/" which meant this had been mistakenly created in mainspace. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 17:15, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Cynthia (Cindy) Todd

Hello Gilo1969. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Cynthia (Cindy) Todd, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. →Bmusician 09:56, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Kromestar

Hello Gilo1969. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Kromestar, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: could be deleted per A7, but sources are available. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 17:35, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology/Section header

Why are you deleting this, i am updating the project! --WhiteWriterspeaks 20:47, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Please, delete your speedy requests! --WhiteWriterspeaks 20:48, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
I am not suggesting that the project pages are deleted, but the pages you have created recently are all in article space. In the case of WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology/Assessment, the project page already exists at Wikipedia:WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology/Assessment so I cannot simply move it and tag the redirect for deletion. GILO   A&E 20:50, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

I am sorry, i didnt saw that. OK, thanks for your fine help! My bad! :( Sorry again, didnt saw that! :) --WhiteWriterspeaks 20:52, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for putting the speedy on the "Tendentious editor" article I created by mistake. I was searching the help to see if I had to do something special to nominate a redirect, not noticing that once I blanked the page it wasn't a redirect page any longer. Anyway, thanks for cleaning up after my error. --Guy Macon (talk) 18:59, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Deferred Action Law

I've declined your G11 speedy deletion nomination of Deferred Action Law. This is because G11 only applies to articles that are entirely of a promotional nature, and would have no meaningful content left if all of the promotional material was removed. In this case, I was able to remove all promotional material, while leaving most of the article intact.--Slon02 (talk) 21:20, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey Gilo1969. I'm dropping you a note because you used to (or still do!) patrol new pages. This is just to let you know that we've deployed and developed Page Curation, which augments and supersedes Special:NewPages - there are a lot of interesting new features :). There's some help documentation here if you want to familiarise yourself with the system and start using it. If you find any bugs or have requests for new features, let us know here. Thanks! Hello, Gilo, I understand you removed the link I just added to Edgar Degas page, which you feel is inappropriate. However, the link is to a very highly researched novel centering on the life of French painter James Tissot. I have taken great care to portray Tissot's friend Degas using his own words, from sources including Guerin, Marcel, ed., Degas Letters, translated by Marguerite Kay. Oxford: Bruno Cassirer, 1947. Denvir, Bernard, The Chronicle of Impressionism: An Intimate Diary of the Lives and World of the Great Artists, London: Thames & Hudson, 2000. King, Ross, The Judgment of Paris: The Revolutionary Decade That Gave the World Impressionism, Walker & Company, NY, 2006. Meyers, Jeffrey, Impressionist Quartet: The Intimate Genius of Manet and Morisot, Degas and Cassatt, Harcourt, Inc., 2005. Nord, Philip G., Impressionists and politics: art and democracy in the nineteenth century, Routledge, 2000. Nord, Philip G., The republican moment: struggles for democracy in nineteenth-century France, Harvard University Press, 1995. Pool, Phoebe, Impressionisn, Great Britain. Oxford University Press, 1967. Reff, Theodore, Degas: The Artist’s Mind, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Harper & Row, Publishers, 1976.

Perhaps it would be more appropriate not to exclude my entry, but to add it under a new Category, "Fictional Portrayals," as is done on the page for John Ruskin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ruskin

Also, please note the page for Kathleen Newton includes the following:

I have added my book under Patricia O'Reilly's, but would agree that the Category "Fictional Portrayals" is more appropriate here as well.
