National varieties of English

[edit]

Information icon Hello. In a recent edit to the page West Buckland School, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. Tacyarg (talk) 14:44, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @teahouse. Thank you for the invitation. Great tips. Appreciate it. TrasaccoGH (talk) 14:34, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by DGG was: This submission is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: Thisis essentially an advertisement, or a web page for the company
DGG ( talk ) 23:36, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DGG: Thank you for taking the time to review my article. May I ask how I can edit it to fulfill Wikipedia's requirements? Would it be better to not list details about the projects and only state that the company exists? TrasaccoGH (talk) 10:00, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

First question--do you have any connection to the company. If so, see WP:COI, and declare it . If it is a paid connection, see WP:PAID for the more detailed disclosure needed. DGG ( talk ) 14:08, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DGG: Yes, I declared the connection before creating the draft. I think it is listed on my user page. Should that also be listed in the draft? TrasaccoGH (talk) 14:12, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
technically, one declaration is enough, but it is much better practice to also put it on the article or its talk p. somewhere; one way of doing it is to make an edit and specify it in the edit summary. I'll deal with your qy in a few days DGG ( talk ) 02:06, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DGG: Ok. Thank you. I made edits and a declaration in the edit summary. Is there anything else I can do? TrasaccoGH (talk) 11:19, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You need to change your username. It shouldn't represent the company. See the following message.

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "TrasaccoGH", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:51, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@DGG: @AngusWOOF: Thank you both for responding. I have changed my username. Is there anything else I can do? Goldkente1999 (talk) 14:49, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
