Flyleaf‎

[edit]

Thanks for you addition to the article. I removed the EP because it's standard practice to not include EPs (or live albums) on the main article's page if a separate discography article exists. There is a Flyleaf discography. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:51, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I was following the Allmusic standards but I understand that Wiki does Live and EPs differently when a separate discography exists. Greenshinobi (talk) 16:02, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

I seriously laughed when I saw that. Thanks! -- Noj r (talk) 20:00, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please assume good faith!

[edit]

I am surprised by your accusation of edit warring [1] . We have a difference opinion of the quality of the references and we have each made one revert and have continued with talk page discussion: this is not edit warring.

::On dead links and links that were not fully cited, I agreed fully with your criticisms and continue to work to correct them.Greenshinobi (talk) 23:46, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To make joint editing easier, please do not remove my text in the same edit where you add text. I will continue to review and comment each source and then we can ask the community of editors for their opinion. Thank you! jmcw (talk) 20:47, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

::Its really hard to assume GF when I post the Crudelli paragraph that talks about To-shin do, differentiates it from Bujinkin, notes that Bujinkin has its own section in another part the author's book ....and you criticize with: "Cite talks about Bujinkin not To-shin do." What? How could you possibly have an alternate interpretation of that paragraph? Furthermore, shouldn't those things go on the pages TALK page and not in the article? Greenshinobi (talk) 23:46, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hatsumi Credentials

[edit]

I've got nothing against Hatsumi, but have merely rewritten the article to match the sources available. I have not seen any reputable 3rd party sources to indicate that Masaaki Hatsumi has any kind of historical lineage, or that he belongs to any ancient Koryu. He seems to teach a popular modern martial art derived from various things that he learned in Japan. The reason that I added "who claims to be" in front of "the 34th Grandmaster of Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu" statement is that the sources provided in the article to support this claim are all poor:

  • They're either from Mr. Hayes (who has a personal interest in inflating historical claims of his teacher)
  • Many are reprinted from news or magazine articles which either use Mr. Hayes as a primary source, or are written by Mr. Hayes (or written by someone else who is a member of the Bujinkan organization)
  • They're from a Bunjinkan offshoot website (and have a personal interest in inflating historical claims of an important member in their organization)

US Presidents, the Vatican, and world leaders are not historical scholars specializing in feudal japan. They are likely to believe what is told to them for a quick photo op rather than delve into old manuscripts and records written in a different language to verify claims of lineage. Being a black belt hall of fame member doesn't mean that your historical claims are true, just that you have been recognized for the martial arts that you practice. Either way, the onus of proof in Wikipedia is on the person making the unsupported claim, not on the person disputing it. Until a valid third party source can be found, Hatsumi's claims of history are just that . . . his claims. Regards, --Stvfetterly (talk) 12:41, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, this seems to be an issue for so many martial arts pages. We have X people claiming a title that was passed down verbally or without scrolls that date back to the era they represent.
With respect to Hatsumi, what's the problem? Is it (A) that Toshitsugu_Takamatsu did NOT pass the title down to Hatsumi or is it (I've seen that argument) (B) that Toshitsugu_Takamatsu was NOT the 33rd Grandmaster of the styles? (I've seen that argument) What's the issue? Because I don't mind researching more if I can focus on what the concern is. Thanks.Greenshinobi (talk) 15:00, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My issue is that Takamatsu doesn't appear to have been the 33rd Grandmaster of the style (other than in Bujinkan/Bujinkan related publications), thereby making Hatsumi's claim as the 34th Grandmaster shaky at best.--Stvfetterly (talk) 19:53, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for writing back. I appreciate better understanding your concerns. Best regards. Greenshinobi (talk) 19:59, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've been researching this and it's clearly a controversial subject! When I get time (no idea), I think I'm going to put together a section called Ninja Controversy or something and put all of the arguments for the lineage and all of the arguments against it in the article. The goal would be to allow people (both sides of the debate) who have published things on this are all fairly reflected in the article. One concern I have is there are many participants in the argument that have no citations (both pro and con on the title). And while they make good sense (both sides) we need citations to add them to wiki. The other concern is both sides seem to have, for lack of a better word, zealots, who are not interested in an academic article. Greenshinobi (talk) 21:49, 24 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
"zealots, who are not interested in an academic article" Well said!. I think a cited controversy section would greatly raise the quality of the article. jmcw (talk) 07:42, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You're in trouble, now! I'm going to pester you to eyeball the stuff and help with it! Ha ha.Greenshinobi (talk) 22:29, 27 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Sindecade, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Crom (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

This is why people don't edit Wikipedia. Instead of writing a not asking me to update the site or to rephrase, you you come in with the emotional intelligence of a cave troll and threaten me with policy that you added blocked from editing instead of being normal. You actually had to format the bold? That took more time than being normal. For fuck's sake.~~(User talk:Greenshindbi)

Hi Greenshinobi, I see that you are a professional economist. I wonder if you could help with Trickle-down economics. There has been a fairly long-running dispute as to whether anyone has actually argued for trickle-down economics, i.e. giving money to the rich through tax cuts, as opposed to hoping that the rich will invest more if they are taxed less. Most RS on the page say that it is a theory, but they are all from sources critical of trickle-down economics. In contrast, a few sources say that no economist or politician has ever proposed this theory, but there are not very many of these. I wonder if you knew of any more sources that would help either way, i.e. either a source arguing that giving the rich more money through tax cuts would help poorer people, or one saying that no one had proposed it. Thanks! Absolutelypuremilk (talk) 19:24, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article, Liberate Te Ex Inferis. While Wikipedia welcomes editors' opinions on an article and how it could be changed, these comments are more appropriate for the article's accompanying talk page. If you post your comments there, other editors working on the same article will notice and respond to them, and your comments will not disrupt the flow of the article. However, keep in mind that even on the talk page of an article, you should limit your discussion to improving the article. Article talk pages are not the place to discuss opinions of the subject of articles, nor are such pages a forum. Thank you. lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 01:27, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The original article listed a translation that was incorrect. The original article had a paragraph of commentary on the title. There were no citations for neither the translation nor the opinions injected by the original Wiki author about the album name. None of that content follows the Wiki Standards. ...But your post to me chastising me? After I corrected those things that were violations of citations and opinions? Are you serious?
