Copying from public domain sources[edit]

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I recently noticed this edit from you on the 2021 Pacific typhoon season article, where some of the material you added was similar to this source. The JTWC and other US government sources are public domain, however, we have to attribute them as public domain properly. Additionally, with other non-public domain sources, they are likely copyrighted in a way incompatible with Wikipedia's copyrights, which means copying material from those sources would constitute a copyright violation. You should not remove links for areas. I know you wanted to avoid repeat links, but please notice that there is a sorting feature on the table. Your ideas did not work when sorting is used.  🐱💬 07:27, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
