@RHaworth: Thanks for letting me know. I have done this for a couple of semesters now without incident. My thinking is that by editing Wikipedia everyday on their journals, not only are they learning to use Wikipedia, but what they post will lead directly to their edits on the site. Would it be possible to let them alone this semester, and I'll use my own install in future semesters? It's only a single subpage for each of them. See here for my main reply. You may thank Thomas Smith for bringing your journals to my attention - see this exchange. He had made a complete false start at category:T. Smith HUMN 4472 Journal and I had deleted it. @Grlucas: I didn't see where how much I was supposed to add to the wiki article. I’m not really sure on what more I can add to it. The person that created the Wiki article summed up what the article was about unless I’m suppose to put more of others idea of robotics that Bill Joy didn’t agree with. Critical reception? The Entire History of You

Hi! I noticed that Blusolace is taking one of your courses, and I saw their edits to The Entire History of You. Unfortunately, I have had to remove a lot of the content as it does not quite meet Wikipedia's guidelines. As this is a high-profile page, with roughly 1000 pageviews per day, there is less leniency on content being added that is still a work in progress, or fails some of our rules.

As I understand that the content added by the student may be perfectly fine for the purposes of the educational course, I recommend that the student copy over their version of the page, found here, to a page in their userspace, like User:Blusolace/The Entire History of You, where they can continue editing their work. I am happy to integrate any of their additions which conform to Wikipedia's guidelines once the assignment is over.

I try to make them aware that they must meet Wikipedia's standards for edits, but sometimes they fall short. This is a real-life learning experience, and you have graciously helped with the lesson. J. Michael Lennon

Just did a quick review of the article. Yes it is now a C-Class article.

I am confused about one thing why is it that the paragraph about Norman Mailer: Works and Days (2000) comes after 2014?

I feel the structure needs work, also usually bios when they reach the featured article status (but not always) start with three meaty paragraph on the subject.

Never the less good job devoting yourself to an article. You clearly deserve lots of props for it.

If its ok with you could you give me your feedback on the Brandon Lee article on which I've spend load of time.

@Filmman3000: Thanks very much for your review and notes. I appreciate it. I put Works and Days after the biography and the letters because the former two are more important, even if they appear chronologically later. Does that make sense? Perhaps some subsections are called for? Let me think about the structure a bit more; I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have. I have a hard time getting any article I write higher than a B-class. Must be the academic in me. I'll have a close read-through of Brandon Lee and give you some notes, though by just looking, it appears to be well done. Cheers, Grlucas (talk) 00:05, 25 December 2019 (UTC)
Yes I do think that the best way is always in chronological order, but yes subsection are fine in the meantime.
My rule of thumb is to look at featured article within the category I am working on and copy the format that I find the most convenient to me. From my quick look to authors bio it seems that the chronological order of releases is the preffered way.

It is against the policy and could cause the class some difficulty (it happened last semester). If you must keep a journal, do so off of Wikipedia, please. I would ask that you take a look at the 3Cs Log assignment again. It is not a journal assignment. Everything you post should be about improving Wikipedia in some way. Please see WP:NOTWEBHOST and read it carefully.

Article Question

Hi, Dr. Lucas! This is Kaitlyn Kelly in your Senior Seminar Course on Tuesday's @ 9:30. In class on Tuesday, 3/10/2020, you stated that part one of our wikipedia article, Hamlet on the Holodeck was a bit too long. I have made revisions to that section of the article to where it's short, sweet and straight to the point. I was wondering would you mind taking a look at the article so that I can know whether if it's still too long, too short, etc.I do plan on adding maybe a few more sentences to discuss the last bit of the chapter. @Kaitlyn.Kelly: You’re on the right track, but I think it can be edited even further. I cut a bit from the first long paragraph and added shortened footnotes as an example. Also, all citations should use templates. Most of the rest of the sentences need to be revised, I'm afraid. Let me know if you need more help. Being Digital-Random User Deletes Sections

Good evening@Grlucas:, I wanted you to be aware that I had rewritten two main sections under our article from two of my group members. Their contributions lacked sources, citations, and I noticed direct copying of sentences from the book. After thorough editing and revising, I was notified that a random user had undone my edits. Their reason was because I didn't provide a better description as to my edits. (I believed I had). I noticed this occurred after I had also edited the Lead. Well, after a little while, I went back and undone what this random user had done. I left the Lead alone this time because I'm afraid it'll trigger that user to come back and perhaps block me or worse, delete all my work again. The good news is that I know you're able to go into my history and see this crazy exchange. I just wanted to take the initiative and make you aware. I appreciate you and your time.
