Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop

Please be aware that ports of games to new systems rarely get a new article, unless the changes and reception are drastically different to require it. Going by the example of Resident Evil 4, this is not likely to be the case for DR for the Wii. --MASEM 02:56, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

In the short run, we have a policy against creating short stub articles when we can expand on a section in a main article. I'd advise you to expand on the main dead rising article, as there is a short section about this re-release that could use more work. In the long run, if this section becomes long enough, we can discuss a split. Randomran (talk) 04:44, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Saw October 2008 Newsletter

The WikiProject Saw Newsletter
Issue IV - October 2008
Member news
  • The project has currently 29 members.
From the Members

Welcome to the fourth issue of the WikiProject Saw's newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.

Another year, and another Saw. The penultimate(?) entry to the series, Saw V, will becoming out in less than two weeks.

We would encourage all members to get more involved and if you are wondering what with, please ask. CyberGhostface 18:17, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Pages Needing Cleanup
Monthly Collaboration
  • Perhaps for the remainder of this month (and the next couple of ones) we can work on Saw V's article. I have a feeling once the film comes out the page will be filled to the brim with information, a lot of which could be trimmed. The other film articles could use some work as well.
Newsletter Challange
  • Important Right now the biggest challenge is to save List of traps in the Saw film series from deletion. There are two things that can be done. First you can go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of traps in the Saw film series (3rd nomination) and voice your argument as to why it should be kept. Important: read over Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions. Saying stuff like "Saw rules, it should be kept" will not help at all. Just as important: improving the article so it has a fighting chance. I.E. Focus less on plot of the films but more "real world" information...I.E. the traps' impact on popular culture, reception they may have received, cited comparisions and allusions to actual devices (just pulling comparisions out of thin air would be original research.
  • Try to make the character articles more encyclopedic by making them less in-universe. See Jigsaw and Amanda's articles for guidance. Also see Jason Voorhees, which is a featured article. (Obviously there is more information on Jason available than the Saw characters, but it is worth looking at to see what's considered the best of the best.) Because of the nature of the series, poorly written articles could be considered 'deletion-bait' and 'cruft'...the better written the articles, the less likely this would happen.
  • Some of the plot articles seem to be overtly long. Without bowdlerizing them, maybe we could try to make them a bit shorter and concise.
  • Try to invite more members to this project. If you know any Saw fans who are good with computers, invite them to Wikipedia. The more the merrier.

Saw VI...

...has not started shooting, and has not got a trailer. There is no point reverting me because someone else will simple revert back. You should read no future films as that is the guideline for when a film gets an article. Darrenhusted (talk) 11:16, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

The Dark Knight

Yes, Gordon started it by walking in and saying a few words, but nothing he did led to the information coming out. That was all Batman. To clarify, to say "Batman and Gordon interrogate the Joker" and then follow up with "The Joker reveals..." it sounds like they tag-teamed him into telling where Dent and Rachel were.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 00:08, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

RE:Saw VI

I do apologize for the reference, I hadn't seen it. But the Film WikiProject guidelines, listed here say not to make it "ACTOR as CHARACTER". Just thought I'd point that out before you go to several articles and possibly get reverted. Certain other things are debatable, and we'll have to cross those bridges when we come to them. --HELLØ ŦHERE 19:15, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:Assassinscreed2logo.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Assassinscreed2logo.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 16:54, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Refactoring comments to votes on Talk:Assassin's Creed

Hi. I've reverted your attempt to refactor the comments on Talk:Assassin's Creed into split or merge votes. That is not how we do it here. Voting is not really applicable for articles, but if you want to have one, it has to be explicit - not guessing what people are thinking as you did. ~~ [ジャム][t - c] 08:13, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

HELP!!!

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

GroundZ3R0 002 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

It says that I have been blocked from editing because User:Slakr believes my IP address is a "zombie computer". I'm not sure what this means but it is also blocking me from editing on my account. I'm not sure if I have verified my Email address (Mac3GroundZ3R0@hotmail.com) but I believe I have. I tried logging in on a secure proxy or whatever, but it is still blocking me. I'm not sure what solution you may have, I would simply like to be able to edit on my account again as soon as possible. Much appreciated.

Decline reason:

Regardless of whether your IP is in a botnet or not, the autoblock seems to have expired, allowing you to edit once again, according to your contributions. Procedural decline; there's naught we can do since you're not directly blocked and the autoblock seems to have expired. -Jeremy (v^_^v Tear him for his bad verses!) 07:06, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This sounds like an autoblock, and by your contributions' looks you're free of it. -Jeremy (v^_^v Tear him for his bad verses!) 07:06, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Please update your status with WP:VG

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in the recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Saw VI.

Hello. I hope you're not offended but I am attempting to reorganize your recent edits to the Saw VI plot and I was wondering what sources there were for "William Easton" and Tanedra Howard's unnamed character and such. From what I see you've provided there is certain information we've already included into the "production" section, and what is revealed in pictures. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I was just wondering if you could help me out. Thanks and happy editing. --HELLØ ŦHERE 00:09, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Cover System article

So far it looks like a really, really good start. Its fairly well written and structured. That being said, on to the points for improvement:

  • Before you make the article public make sure it's well sourced. For an article this size I'd say at least 8 or so reliable sources are needed to keep your article from being attacked be the wolves. New articles often get deleted, so if you can back things up that betters your chances of keeping the article safe.
  • Be careful of original research. Statements such as "The use of a single button for moving in and out of cover was considered revolutionary at the time and was attributed to the massive success and sales of the game and it's sequel, Gears of War 2." If you have sources to back that up then you're safe, otherwise people might contest that. In general the Revival era (2006-2009) section needs work to keep from looking like original research/opinion.
  • Plan out a few pictures for the future. Specifically things that show what you're trying to back up. Try to find a good picture that shows the Gears of War cover system, for example. You can get a picture from a gaming site as long as you know how to source it. Take a look at this picture for an example. It's not a free image, but it's been considered fair use for Wikipedia given the rationale.
  • You might want to move back even further on your origins of a cover system. Games as old as Star Wars: Rebel Assault II had a form of a cover system.
  • Some other games/series with a cover system worth mentioning: the Tenchu series, 007: Everything or Nothing and the Bond games that followed, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand
  • Some extra refs/links that might interest you: [1], [2], [3], [4]

It's looking really good, just keep chugging at it. It's definitely a useful article. --Teancum (talk) 11:55, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi there, there is nothing in the article that would stop me from rating it B-class if the reception information (IE reviews as opposed to controversy) was present, from a practical standpoint it's also important that yourself and other contributors have actually played the game to verify that there's no yawning gap in the plot as well. I'd suggest relisting the article on the assessments page the moment that info's been added, hopefully an assessment looking at the B-class criteria would also include a comb-through of the article highlighting any tweaks ready for a GA attempt. Someoneanother 00:04, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

I have nominated Assassin's Creed III, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Assassin's Creed III. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Pmlineditor  09:26, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Tobin Bell

Just thought I should tell you, on September 7, 2009, an anonymous user 124.177.177.92 added an erroneous credit to Tobin Bell's page. The user didn't even wikify it properly, as the link didn't work. You were the next editor and you fixed the link, but I just wanted you to know that it was vandalism and I'm removing it. The user addedd Debbie Does Dallas to the actor's list of credits, but there is little evidence that he was in that famous porn film. Moreover, the user didn't even specify the correct year of the film, it came out in 1978, but the user listed it as 1982. I thought it was kind of funny that the next editor to come along, you, didn't pick up on the fact that it was vandalism and took the step to properly wikify false information. Just thought I'd let you know. 98.221.131.77 (talk) 23:05, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Saw (the game)

I'll be honored to help you out, although I unfortunately do not have the game. Hopefully I can accomplish that soon, as that would be a great help. ;-) I remember reading about it when it was announced and thought I read (on Wiki) that Dr. Gordon would be in it and it would reveal his fate. Apparently that was a bad rumor (as always). I've been trying to work on the Saw films (they all need heavy work, although Saw VI is pretty good), and just recently came over to the Saw game (although I do watch it for vandalism) and notice it is a B class -- the only article about Saw that is. Good work on that! If you haven't already look here.

  • My email is on my user page, you can send me the pics. I assume you're sure they are "free" images? Copyright can be confusing and difficult.
  • Ah! The Saw character section. I've been wanting to get things done on the main article. From what I gather, there aren't many main characters in the Saw game? It wouldn't hurt to list them all in the article and briefly describe them. Other FA game articles, such as The Simpsons (or any FA) doesn't list characters individually, and they don't link to their character page (The Simpsons game links them in the lead section while Metal Gear Solid: 3 links them in the character section.). Also you added the link to the main character page under the heading. So just briefly describing them (what their role is in the game) should be enough.
  • Gameplay sections look good.

I'm going to look over the article more thoroughly. --Mike Allen talk · contribs 05:07, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Question: Where do you purchase and download the game for PC? --Mike Allen talk · contribs 05:26, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Copy-edit this: I'm thinking about changing this:

There are also various things hidden around the asylum that can be found to provide background on why Tapp is there and other information on Jigsaw and others. Many of these come in the form of "Jigsaw Notes" left behind or cassette tapes found laying around"

to this:

Hidden items, such as "Jigsaw Notes" and microcassette tapes are found laying around the asylum to provide hints and objectives.

Does that sound accurate/better? (Might want to take this discussion tot he talk page?)--Mike Allen talk · contribs 05:47, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Re-doing: I am re-doing/working on the Lead, Development, Adversisng sections. I am stumped on the Development section though.

I'm trying to re-word/shorten it, and this is what I have so far:

It was originally announced prior to the release of Saw III, that Brash Entertainment was going to start development of Saw and co-publish it with Twisted Pictures. They stated that the game would most likely be released alongside Saw IV. However, due to financial difficulties, Brash ceased development, only to be picked up by Konami, as the publisher, a few weeks later. The game was then redesigned to be spiritual successor to Konami's other survival horror franchise, Silent Hill.

Should we break down every single detail of the history of development? --GroundZ3R0 002 (talk) 03:02, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

*I went by some FA gaming articles while I was editing and none of them have characters listed in a list. But I would prefer them in a list, at least Jigsaw and Tapp, like you said. Should we call him the "Jigsaw Killer", or just Jigsaw?

But to note, EVERY FA article seems to be differently formatted. So I can't tell which one is the "correct" or best way.. --GroundZ3R0 002 (talk) 03:02, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Question on Games infoxboxes

This is weird, I know I posted this two days ago on your page, and I can't find it.(nevermind it was at the bottom of the page, but not showing).

Again: When did Wikipedia changed the games' infobox to not include "followed by", etc? I could have swore at one time games had that (like films), but when I add "followed by" to the infobox template it doesn't recognize it. --Mike Allen talk · contribs 19:07, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

SAW GA

Excuse me, but when you put Saw (video game) on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Assessment/Requests, that's not where it gets reviewed. Here is where it goes. I will keep it as B, but hopefully in the future you will remember what to go when you want an article to be a GA article. GamerPro64 (talk) 14:02, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Reliability

First off why is that site considered unreliable? What reason was given? Looks legit to me, and it's appeared on many notable websites -- but what do I know. LOL.

I mean what procedures and protocol must a website go through to be deemed "reliable"? Is there such a criteria, or is it just merely based on ones opinion? Who was the person that told you this.. I'll ask them!

I have searched and found nothing on the sales. User:Micwa (unsigned) 20 November 2009 (UTC)
