VG Chartz consensus

Yes that would be a good idea.--Mike Allen talk · contribs 04:39, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Well crap I thought I did! Where's Mr. Sinebot??? He's always popping up when I forget to sign and then quickly do an edit to sign -- and bam an edit conflict with that damn bot. You know he wouldn't show up when I really needed him... lol -Mike Allen talk · contribs 04:40, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Just to clear things up, it's considered unreliable per Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Sources#Unreliable sources, where it's stated "While referenced in reliable sources, site's own methods of extrapolation and adjustment without source referral mean site is possibly unreliable by a large margin in estimates.method analysis If possible, replace with NPD Group or Enterbrain numbers for US and Japan, respectively." --Teancum (talk) 14:39, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
It would think it'd be okay to use these when other numbers aren't available, but I know there's a few editors out there that'll shoot it down. Best thing it probably just to give it a try. --Teancum (talk) 10:49, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I was going to comment yesterday (thought I did). This is what the policy says about VGChartz:

While referenced in reliable sources, site's own methods of extrapolation and adjustment without source referral mean site is possibly unreliable by a large margin in estimates. If possible, replace with NPD Group or Enterbrain numbers for US and Japan, respectively.

I think this source is the best we got until something more "official" comes along. --Mike Allen talk · contribs 19:34, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
An unreliable source should never be used, period. The goal for any article is to try and make it a GA or even FA, the article will not get either if it has a unverified claim in it. As for the policy on VG Chartz, that was only put in as a compromise to the tiny minority that like the site, the majority of WP:VG members oppose using it at all. That is why the site is not allowed at all in any of the "List of best-selling" game articles. The article is not helped by having a made-up number in it (especially such a low number). The only reason I placed the tag on there instead of just deleting the claim is because of the policy you pointed out above. If that policy didn't exist, I just would have deleted the claim. The tag lets people know that the source is questionably and needs to be confirmed by a reliable source. TJ Spyke 21:33, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Well I was just going by policy (read above) as it said if possible replace with NPD. Well right now, that's not possible. ;-) --Mike Allen talk · contribs 03:00, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
For now I suppose it's fine to keep it in (just with the verifysource tag). If the article ever gets nominated for GA or FA though, the info could hurt its chances. I don't care much about editing Saw articles (I think the movies are so-so and have no interest in the articles), so it's not gonna bother me either way, but I would recommend just removing the claim if no reliable source can be found. TJ Spyke 21:57, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Aside from the VG Chartz numbers, both look like they could get promoted. I would object to either getting promoted if the info is kept in though. TJ Spyke 22:14, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Saw VII

No, it's fine. I welcome anyone to help with it. The plan is to have it FA before the film is even released. LOL So, I thought it would be a good idea to start early to most importantly gather sources. :-) I don't know, most sites (IMDb, RottenTomatoes, Box Office Mojo) are reporting the title to be Saw VII 3D. Oh and I already commented on the template discussion. --Mike Allen talk · contribs 19:23, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Read the lead section on Saw 7. Is that too confusing or unnecessary? Should it be moved under Development or removed period? Gracias. --Mike Allen talk · contribs 04:31, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, looks a lot better -- I don't know why I couldn't think of putting it like that. Sometimes I can write something so complex when it doesn't need to be. Also check out David Tapp, Saw III, Mark Hoffman, and Saw II pages for some new images. I hope the copyright warriors don't come after me.. I mean I don't know why they WOULD. lol Also I downloaded that interview and briefly watched it... yeah Danny Glover sucked in that interview. But I'll see what I can gather as soon as I fully watch it (maybe tomorrow).  :-D --Mike Allen talk · contribs 06:24, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Saw the video game website

Have you checked out the video game's website lately? It seems Konami has updated it and added a few more screen shots. http://www.konami.com/screenshots/saw.php --Mike Allen talk · contribs 23:14, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

I updated the Billy doll pic, but the new version still hasn't been shown in the Billy doll article.  :-\ I like the picture showing the front of the asylum and the first one of David. Also is that Oswald in the razor trap? --Mike Allen talk · contribs 23:40, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
I added the asylum. No I haven't. I don't have a 360 or PS3, just PC. I really don't like the "downloable" games. I like to have a physical copy of the media. I don't know why they couldn't release a DVD for it (unless I get it my some other means and burn it to a DVD.. but I'm not going to do that. lol). However, my cousin has a 360, so I'm thinking about renting the game and playing it there soon. :D --Mike Allen talk · contribs 23:59, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

I have nominated Saw: Das Spiel, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Saw: Das Spiel. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Hi GroundZ3R0 002!

I came upon the article on Cover system (gaming), an impressive article you've written from scratch. The manual of style edits I'm referring to are mostly taken care of by WikiGnomes like myself. It was in need of a bit of the ol' copy-editing, so I thought I'd drop you a message, for future reference. Consider this my editor review! :)

To sum it up (don't worry, it isn't that bad :D), of course in a list:

  • Keep a neutral point of view; "generically copied Gears of War", "all attempting to mimic the success"
  • Be aware of weasel words. Some words can change the tone of a paragraph or even a whole article around; words like 'countless' and 'many'
    • On a side note, 'the first' is sufficient, that is is in fact the first in history goes without a saying then.
  • No Unnecessary Capital Letters. No unnecessary capital letters. That's why I had to move the article to its current name; Cover System (gaming) -> Cover system (gaming), 2009-Present -> 2009-present
    • Some brands however do use capital letters in their name; Playstation -> PlayStation
  • The plural form of the word 'game' is written without a apostrophe; game's -> games
  • Be consequential in the use of mark ups, some titles lacked cursive; Gears of War -> Gears of War

Sorry for this complaining message. Don't let it get you down, you're doing a bang-up job! Thanks, and happy editing. --Soetermans | drop me a line | what I'd do now? 23:36, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

List of Saw Media

Just wanted to say that the List of Saw media is up for AfD.... No, lol.. haha. But looks really good. Great work. ;-) --Mike Allen talk · contribs 18:27, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

That's awesome. It really, really looks really good. :) Is it possible for List of Saw characters to be a FL? Have you ever contributed to it before? It was recently re-done. I'm going to try to focus most of my Wiki-energy to adding on to the franchise page (working on via my playbox. Right now trying expand the "Films" section, so it's not just a list. Oh god, all of the Saw films (esp. 1-5) needs A LOT of work.. A LOT. But those were made before I came along (lol). :P Oh and I just rented Saw III and The Grudge 3 at a local video store in my small town (I live 30 mins away from Movie Gallery, Blockbuster, so the next time I go that way I will be renting the video game for 360). I only rented Grudge 3 because of Shawnee Smith being in it, but shit she died not even half-way.. needless to say the movie sucked. So then I put in Saw III but it won't go pass 5 mins as the DVD is severely scratched. Pisses me off... --Mike Allen talk · contribs 07:30, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
About the List of Saw characters not reaching FL because of vadals.. nothing a good old padlock wouldn't fix. :) How's the GA on the video game coming? --Mike Allen talk · contribs 01:18, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Ha and I bet Saw is not a priority either.. I was going to say something, but since I'm not a 3rd party (I edit Saw articles) I didn't think it would count. Now that you told I could.. I'm hesitant, as I don't want you to be accused of canvassing. :-\ Oh and I have encountered some friendly and helpful admins since I've been here, but don't think any edit Saw articles. I don't believe that's even necessary as all you have to do is request protection and any admin and can check the history and determine if it needs protection (or IP blocking). --Mike Allen talk · contribs 01:41, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Right now? I would say no. They would say that there aren't any recent disruptive editing or vandalism to merit being protected. --Mike Allen talk · contribs 02:55, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hey there, thanks for the message and encouragement. I appreciate your constructive criticism and your contributions to Cover system (gaming). I didn't even notice those errors and probably wouldn't have if you hadn't fixed them. Anyways, thanks and happy edits, GroundZ3R0 002 (talk) 00:52, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Sure, don't mention it! Someone once said to me: "Wiki thrives on people like you", a nice compliment that surely applies to you. Sorry for my late reply, I haven't been very active the last week on Wiki. Thanks, and happy editing! --Soetermans | drop me a line | what I'd do now? 18:42, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

The game...

I got the game today! About to start playing... --Mike Allen 01:24, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes 360, and for $8.50 (at Movie Gallery), for 5 days. I have a feeling it's not going to take 5 days though. lol Near the beginning, in the room where you have to cut open the bodies and it shows a woman on the TV and she says "I've passed the game already" and Jigsaw says something like you still haven't learned anything." Was that supposed to be Amanda? And thanks about the sig, I just "stole" the code from someone. :) --Mike Allen 02:04, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
It's interesting and intense. The combat sucks. It's a game really for Saw fans only. I thought I was about to get a gun in a cabinet, and then bombs went off and.. I don't know what happened. Then this guy is running from me and screaming "I told you to leave me alone!" Lol I hit him one time and he ran and disappeared. I have 160 achievements. --Mike Allen 02:24, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok, uh I don't get Amanda's trap. --Mike Allen 02:44, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh, well I guess her IMDb page was correct all along. I have to say, I figured they would kill her in Saw VI. lol. No that did not help. I don't understand why the blue goes in the reds and vice versa. I click the left trigger for the red, and then it goes to the blue side. I've done killed Amanda 5 times... --Mike Allen 02:50, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Well I can get past the first part, but the second part is different every time. I don't think there IS a pattern. --Mike Allen 03:01, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Ok I think I'm starting to understand it now. I can be a lil slow at times. I wonder why Shawnee couldn't have recorded her voice.. surely she could have taken time from The Grudge 3. lol --Mike Allen 03:11, 20 December 2009 (UTC) Yay I saved her.. looks like I'll be working with her. Update: OK I'm done playing for tonight. Oh, do you think we should make an Episode page for Scream Queens? Or do you think it would be removed per some guideline? --Mike Allen 04:03, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

When I first went to the link I was number 2 and Collectian was number 1. Now we're not listed. lol I'm now at the room (first level of "Mellisa") where you are locked in and gas starts filling the room. You have to do that pipe puzzle really quick. When I was trying to stop Jennings trap, I hate that the camera kept showing the blade and then slowly came back into focus with the puzzle. Ugh. Oh, I uploaded a better picture that I will use after Christmas. Not many people have pics on their user page I see. lol --Mike Allen 23:35, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Something like this List of The Bad Girls Club episodes? Maybe season pages? That gas room really pisses me off. I don't have enough time! I have hardly any patience.. and puzzles aggravates me. I've still not beaten Tomb Raider 1-6 without cheat codes. lol Oh and when you cut the game off, you have to start from the very beginning of the chapter? Grr. I'm about to play Call of Juarez, it's pretty fun.--Mike Allen 02:04, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Actually I just got passed that part finally. I'm getting tired of those damn shotgun trip wires. LOL. No I don't think it would be a good idea to make a page per episode, just a Season 1 page, Season 2 page, and then a List of episodes page. I may not can really start to edit it until Wednesday. We can start it in a sandbox until it gets good enough to move it to its own page. I don't want it to get AfD'd. --Mike Allen 04:06, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Saw VII page

My heart just sunk when I seen you put "Cary Elwes " would be returning to Saw VII on my page. LOL Unfortunately, this may not be true. Patrick said his fate would be revealed, but didn't say if Cary would be returning. Let's not list him unless it is actually reported that he will indeed be returning, in the flesh.  :) --Mike Allen 23:08, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

LOL well I meant it as, my heart just sunk because I thought it was true. I'm not one of those crazy Gordon conspirists, but I really would like to know what happened to him. The only site that really updates on Saw is Bloody-Disgusting (or ShockTilYouDrop). It is ok to have citations primarily from one source, even if it's valid and is the ONLY source available? Well I think the page looks really good. But shouldn't Jill be under Principal characters? --Mike Allen 04:56, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Re:Saw template.

Ah, I see. Moving the cast members list to the related group? Yeah, sure. ~ ς ح д r خ є ~ 06:32, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I have very little knowledge of the Saw series and in fact, have never seen any of the films, I'm more of a dead, evil, hell-draggin' Elm Street fan. However, I'll take a look if I can. By the way, there's a little "v" on my userpage above the boxes (rather hidden) that links to User:Scarce/box and the show game is at {{User:Scarce/show}} ~ ς ح д r خ є ~ 06:51, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
