Thanks, Dr. Alberts. I know your name; I just can't type. Plus, I've been taught so many different rules for the apostrophe, and they all contradict. Sorry about that. User:Thyroidpsychic

Thanks for pointing it out. I'll make sure to timestamp them from next time onwards.Gamesmaster G-9 05:11, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Psychology Wiki

[edit]
The Logo for the Psychology Wiki.

Hi GumbyProf,

I noticed that you teach statistics, and thought you might be interested in this project which I am involved in, The Psychology Wiki.

I won't say too much, as I'd like you to judge it for yourself, but you should find that it is different from Wikipedia, because approximately 90% of our contributors so far are psychologists, academics, or students and trainees.

Its hosted by a company called Wikia, which was founded by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley. There are Google Ads on the site, but we dont make money from the project, they're just to pay for the bandwidth, storage and technical support that Wikia give us.

Have a look and see what you think

Mostly Zen 01:39, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS We are trying to attract expert contributors in different areas. So far we have a variety of contributors, the least qualified of which are at an Undergraduate level (such as myself) ranging up to Clinical psychologists with 30 years experience, and Retired researchers and academics. We are in need of a statistics specialist, to collaborate with the other users. Do you relish the challenge of joining a young community that is just starting out? Our wiki may be for you...

Editing your Userpage

[edit]

Hey there. It is normally not conventonal for someone to edit a userpage that doesn't belong to them. But I have edited your sandboz to remove the Wikify tag, because your userpage shows up on Category:Articles that need to be wikified. I hope I did not interfere with your experimenting. -- Reaper X 18:44, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Teaching with Wikipedia

[edit]

Hello, Scott. I am a great fan of teaching with Wikipedia, and I would like to congratulate you on experimenting with using Wikipedia in your course. Some links of interest: Wikipedia:School and university projects, Wikiversity. Take care, -- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  17:30, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Use of your tools

[edit]

Hi, Just to tell that I copied and pasted your table on fr:Wikipédia:Projets pédagogiques, which is the french equivalent of the school and uni projects page. It seems to be a good digital dashboard for such a work. Astirmays 21:03, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

perilously picking pecadilloes with pedagogues

[edit]

One of the challenges of wikis is the sheer range of people to which you expose your writings, and the oft-unexpected directions from which they evaluate your writings ... and yourself. Thus the frequent insistence that users who wish to be Wikipedia admins should have first demonstrated the ability to bring an article to a high condition, weathering comments and suggestions (good or ill) in the process.

Thus a passing wikipedian notices the ordinarily innocuous "my real page" and is very much put out - the thought that any page on the Wikipedia should not be considered 'real' is shocking. Surely you mean "your external home page" or "work-related page?" Aghast at your inadvertent wiki-denigration I beg you to reconsider.

BTW: I checked the spelling of every word - pedagogues are parlous! ;-) Shenme 07:37, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Response to your request

[edit]

I would suggest looking at the edits on Christian terrorism for the purpose of your class. --Kukini hablame aqui 16:35, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One of the reasons I suggest the topic is because of the variability of definitions of terrorism, based on value systems and cultures. I find it amazing how disparate people's views are on this particular topic. When directed more specifically at the group in the majority amongst English speaking peoples, the concept is seen as a lot more "controversial" than when directed at more marginalized populations. This could make for a very interesting comparison. --Kukini hablame aqui 21:25, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Baldwin Academy

[edit]

I've noticed the edits you and your class have made to Joseph Baldwin Academy and the article, for the most part, looks good. However, the article reads a little bit like an advertisement or a form of self-promotion. Please make sure your edits to the article are written in a neutral point of view. --Millbrooky (talk) 21:30, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pittsburgh event for Wikipedia's tenth anniversary

[edit]

Hi! Since you're listed as a Wikipedian in Pittsburgh, I wanted to invite you to the Wikipedia Tenth Anniversary celebrations we're having in Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 15. During the daytime, we're going to be having a photo contribution drive where anyone can bring in their digital photos or prints and Wikipedians will teach people how to upload them and add them to articles, and maybe introduction to Wikipedia workshops as well. Then in the evening, we'll have fun at the Carson City Saloon. There will be free Wikipedia t-shirts and other goodies, as well. See the Pittsburgh meetup page for more details. I hope to see you there!--ragesoss (talk) 15:11, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:05, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
