Did you intend to leave your adoption offer on his user page? I already have one on the talk page, and I'd be happy to move yours there as well (competing adoption schools! ), but if you intended for it to be on the userpage, I'll just let it go. Thanks. Go Phightins! 03:40, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is what I get for editing this late (9:30). If you'd move it I'd love it. Thanks gwickwire | Leave a message 03:42, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done and I better call it a night, because it's past 10:30 in my neck of the woods. Go Phightins! 03:44, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Goodnight! And if you get a chance, would you mind looking at my tentative course? I'd appreciate it! gwickwire | Leave a message 03:48, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Looks comprehensive. I just started mine two days ago, so I may not be the best one to ask. My materials are shown here. Feel free to steal them if you'd like, you can credit them as follows. Gwickwire stole these from Go Phightins! who stole them from Rcsprinter123 who stole them from Worm That Turned who stole them from Hadger. Just kidding, you don't have to credit them. Most of my materials are from Worm That Turned/Rcsprinter123, but I did write the Twinkle lesson and the final exam mostly on my own. Go Phightins! 03:51, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was trying for comprehensive. I haven't started lessons yet, I'll do that in a bit maybe. I may end up stealing some parts of tests from you, but I think I'd rather do the lessons on my own. Thanks for the review! gwickwire | Leave a message 03:53, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, it's your course. But as mentioned, feel free to steal anything you'd like. Go Phightins! 03:54, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Still want me to credit you? I have no problem adding a stolen from phightins notice somewhere :) (that was a joke, I'll credit if you want) gwickwire | Leave a message 03:56, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's up to you. I honestly don't care. This is from Go Phightins! suffice. Go Phightins! 04:00, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. BTW, when using {{od}}, specifying {{od|(insertnumber)}} allows you to set the number of outdents you need. Makes it look all purdy and stuff :) gwickwire | Leave a message 04:05, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute resolution volunteer survey[edit]

Dispute Resolution – Volunteer Survey Invite

Hello Gwickwire. To follow up on the first survey in April, I am conducting a second survey to learn more about dispute resolution volunteers - their motivations for resolving disputes, the experiences they've had, and their ideas for the future. I would appreciate your thoughts. I hope that with the results of this survey, we will learn how to increase the amount of active, engaged volunteers, and further improve dispute resolution processes. The survey takes around five to ten minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist in analyzing the results of the survey. No personally identifiable information will be released.

Please click HERE to participate.
Many thanks in advance for your comments and thoughts.

You are receiving this invitation because you have either listed yourself as a volunteer at a dispute resolution forum, or are a member of a dispute resolution committee. For more information, please see the page that describes my fellowship work which can be found here. Szhang (WMF) (talk) 02:46, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse / Fay Wolf Article[edit]

So we met in the teahouse! Hi again. I'm just here because I would like to explain my problem more. Many users have told me that I need to direct Fay to some pages about how no one owns Wikipedia content and how she cannot force me to delete my entry. User talk:C.Fred told me that I since I don't know her or her manager personally, I shouldn't worry about this request. While it is true that I do not know Fay Wolf's manager, I do know her. I am Zibby Allen's brother. I think I mentioned in my article that Fay and Zibby are great friends. So I kind of know her and she would be offended if I didn't do what she wants. I'm really happy about making my first article and all I need to do is fix some referencing errors, but it's disappointing that she doesn't want me to publish. Normally, I would follow everyone's advice and publish it anyway, but I know her too well and it would create some big problems. But I still want to publish it! Uuh I'm so confused as to what I need to do right now. What do you honestly think? Should I get it published in secret and lie to her by saying that it's deletion wasn't approved and another user published it? Does Wikipedia have anything to say about family and friend influence on article creation? -Mallen22 (talk) 01:07, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, is user C.Fred an administrator? I've seen him on tons of articles and talk pages. -Mallen22 (talk) 01:07, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, I personally really want your version published instead of her manager's. A manager's version will be overly promotional and full of puff. Yours has the chance to be very neutral. All we say about family/friend influence is that make sure you're writing in NPOV. As long as you don't tell her it's published, she won't really know unless she looks. I say keep working really hard, and get it published. Then, if she comes and messes it up, it's on her. If hers is published then you take stuff out, it's just as much on you as it is her. I think just get yours published, let Wikipedia's proven process work with the rest. Make sense? By the way, C.Fred is an administrator, yes, but that doesn't mean he has any special authority or anything. :) gwickwire | Leave a message 01:13, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! :-) By the way, I LOVE the smiley faces. Whenever C.Fred leaves me a message, he uses a template. It's like talking to a robot. It's so annoying! (But don't tell him I said that :-)
Anyway, I finished the article by adding more info, linking more articles, and finding better sources and citing them correctly!!! Now that it's done, it's ready for submission. But could I ask you for a favor: Could you just submit it for me? That way I won't have to deal with friend/family drama. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! It's kind of sad that I have to "act" a different role to my sister and her friend. Maybe I should become an actor and get my own Wikipedia article :-) (and it wouldn't be written by a pompous manager!) -Mallen22 (talk) 03:34, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see no major formatting issues, or any other major issues. I will go ahead and not only submit it but accept it, and move it into articlespace, if and only if you promise me you'll look for more sources such as newspapers, online news outlets (cnn, foxnews.com, etc.) and/or some magazines to improve referencing. Just tell me you're willing to keep working on it and I'll gladly move it into articlespace. gwickwire | Leave a message 04:02, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I promise. I will continue working on it whenever I can. It might take awhile to finish because I'm in college (so I have a lot of other things to do also) but I will search in newspapers, CNN, fox, and any LA papers online that are good for sourcing. Thank you! -Mallen22 (talk) 05:30, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse[edit]

pleaseeeeeeee let me in the teahouse as a host pleassssssseeeeeeeee I'll do anything Ferrari Enzo 2 (talk) 05:35, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ferrari, the teahouse is where new editors come with questions about how Wikipedia works, from editing to policies. We who frequent the teahouse have come up with a pseudo-set of unspoken rules that we have for those who want to be hosts, some of which include at least 500 edits to content, knowing the policies, participating in discussions regarding policy or implementation of policy, etc. Right now, you don't meet those criteria. Like I said before, feel free to come back after you have more experience. I'd suggest finding something you really like to do, or a show you like, etc. that doesn't have an article, or has a short article, and improving it! gwickwiretalkedits 19:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why have I been accused of vandalism?[edit]

I just found out today I have been accused of vandalism. How is that so? I don't remember any of this, I haven't been on the account since October and I remember I haven't edited anything for 3 months. Can you please make this clearer for me?

Also, do you know why my Winter Storm Brutus article is deleted? - PageInformer — Preceding unsigned comment added by PageInformer (talkcontribs) 22:09, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, looking at your contributions, your account edited in November. That's beside the point. Like I said on your talkpage, USM used his rollback in an inappropriate way. Your edits weren't vandalism. Also, the Winter Storm Brutus article was deleted as it was deemed through Articles for Deletion to be not notable enough to be an article. gwickwiretalkedits 23:28, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And I've had it on my watchlist the whole time. I did the first reference as an example for you, see my comment at the submission page. I'll accept it, but you need to fix those citations, or it may get AfDed or otherwise proposed for deletion. gwickwiretalkedits 03:21, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Curious![edit]

Can I post the same article on INT and DYK? Logically I should not, since same content will get repeated in the main page in very short time. But, any rule for it? I have almost 7 days in hand to nominate it for DYK. --Tito Dutta (talk) 05:15, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't seen a rule against it. It may be a bit too late for a DYK, but if you post a good enough blurb there I'm sure somone will support. Sorry about the oppose for ITN, I can't support anything there until Monday after the recent events in Connecticut. gwickwiretalkedits 05:19, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yes, the Connecticut shooting, that is in the headlines of newspapers of Kolkata (West Bengal) too. And it is much more important than my Bengali movie channel inauguration. I wish this Connecticut event never happened at all so that 1) those 20 children could be safe and sound now and ummm, 2) I could have a better chance for my INT hook. :) --Tito Dutta (talk) 05:32, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. That was an aweful event. 20 children died and some teachers. I heard most of them were in the 1st grade. How aweful. When I go back to school Monday, that is probably the only thing that our teachers will be discussing. How terrible. Such a sick and cruel event that has happened this year.....in my opinion. For me, 2012 is not that great of a year......it was the year of disaster from the hurricane that affected not only me but many others, when I found out that I had scoliosis, and now this...............this year............not the best. :( So sad. About having Reviewing rights[edit]

I saw you thought I need the rollback rights at this page.I was in a big hurry when I was asking permission there. So there could be mistakes in my reason. But I know about reviewing and I want the reviewer right. So if I made a mistake in writing my reason there please tell me and also tell me if I can change my reason.--Pratyya (have a chat?) 10:22, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if I wasn't clear at that page. The point of reviewer has very little to do with vandalism. You specifically said you wanted to be able to "revert or change those mistakes". You can currently edit them out, but if you want access to the true rollback button you have to have rollback rights, not reviewer. Also, you can review articles at AfC without any rights whatsoever, however you may wish to install the AfC helper script to do it faster. The "reviewer" user group is given to users so that they may review pending changes made by IP addresses on articles with PC level 1 applied, and if PC L2 were in use review edits from those who aren't reviewers. Make sense now? gwickwiretalkedits 20:07, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sunstar Group Corrected and Resubmitted[edit]

Hello Gwickwire,

I just re-submitted my newly edited article, Sunstar Group, for consideration. Thank you for your patience. I am having challenges finding my way through the Wikipedia system, but am not giving up.

Steve Beimel (talk) 10:18, 28 December 2012 (UTC)Steve Beimel[reply]

Hello! If I may just give you a word of advice (you're not the first one), when you sign with 4 tildes, (~~~~) no need to put anything else after it. The Wikipedia software automatically changes it into some links for you.
The issue now with the article is that there is a lack of sources. You need reliable sources to back up everything you say. You may also want to see Help:Cite for more information on how to cite sources.
Also, there still isn't a claim to notability in the article. You need to answer this question: Why should Wikipedia have an article on this company? It may help you to look at WP:ORG and WP:N for more information on that.
Articles should be written in prose, not in lists. The history section should avoid doing what an English professor called "listing", where you use words such as "first, then, next, in (year), in the next year, etc." in your prose. Granted that was a college class, and not Wikipedia, but it applies here. Your sentences should flow from one to the next without a new paragraph for each and every history topic.
Finally, the article still sounds like an advertisement. Please take a look at other articles on companies for help on this. Good articles to look at have a green + sign in the top right corner of the page, across from the name of the article. The main issue with your article is there's only a history section. There's no product description, reception, conflicts/criticism, etc. sections that are in other articles.
If you need any clarification, just ask me here! gwickwiretalkedits 16:48, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Final standings in NHL division articles[edit]

FYI, an IP you have previously encountered has once again begun removing last season's final standings without consensus. Granted, if there was a season in play right now, this wouldn't be an issue, but thought I would ask for your eyes on this. For example, see: [2].
