Their are many pages for other youtube stars and they are counted as legitimate. Luoshenjiao

I saw that you declined the speedy deletion of Luoshenjiao, citing it as a close spelling. In actuality, it's not, as the page should be (and I've not moved it there) Luo Sheng Jiao. It's not very plausable that someone would both leave out the spacing in a name and misspell a middle name. Inks.LWC (talk) 06:02, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Good point. Not sure what I was thinking there; probably skimmed the article too quickly while in "get this shit done, there's a backlog!" mode and missed the fact that the proper name has spaces. MSU Interview

Dear Hadal,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

• Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
• Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
• All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
• All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
• The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. First of all I would like to thank you for taking time to read our Wikipedia article. Please let me disagree with the speedy deletion decision for our article.

We spent many hours with our copywriter reading the terms and conditions , the criteria on submitting an article in Wikipedia and we believe that our article don't promote a product or a business. It is written in third party and explains the growth of a small company within the years (from printed versions of venue data, to floppy disks,then CD ROMs and the first web based online version of venue Data in the UK) How from a small company from 3 people became the leader of interactive venue data and generated in excess £429m of enquiries into conference venues in 2011. We are explaining the massive change to the business travel industry and how the software called "Gratis" helped hundreds of people making their life's easier. We are not selling or promoting something from the above. Before writing the article we read carefully many other articles related to our industry for example Cvent. In Cvent's case, the article is not promoting a business or a product? Another example is Phones4You.

The page has been also deleted because of Unambiguous copyright infringement Source URL: http://www.venuedirectory.com/content/general/aboutus_page41.aspx) If you read carefully the article and the URL provided you will see that it is definitely not COPY / PASTE and definitely not copy writing as the text is different.

I noticed that you removed the copy-vio speedy template from the article after some changes. Does the article not worry you? If I'm honest, it sails a bit close to the wind for me. I'm not terribly worried. The user did eventually digest the text, and arguably improved its readability as a result. The thing is, this isn't poetry: there aren't a lot of ways to reword such a technical, factual statement without a detrimental loss of clarity. And it really is just a simple definition at this point. That said, the article was much less ambiguous when you first tagged it; I hope you're not discouraged from being similarly watchful in the future! --Hadal (talk) 05:17, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Not at all. But as a mathematician, and as someone who has created scores of mathematical articles, I can testify to the fact that it is not too hard to re-write a definition in a coherent way that does not infringe copyright. All that is necessary is for the person doing the writing to understand what s/he is writing about. It was a verbatim copy, and now it's just a soup. I get the feeling that it was written by a student sat with a textbook on his/her lap. I think the article needs some special attention. I'll tag it for expert opinion and cross my fingers in the hope someone fixes it. — Fly by Night (talk) 21:17, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

AnimeshKulkarni has also posted to my talk page about this. It does look to me as though the article may not have qualified for a G5 speedy deletion, as the criterion says "Pages created by banned or blocked users in violation of their ban or block, and which have no substantial edits by others'", but AnimeshKulkarni does seem to have made significant edits. Changing title of article

I need to change the title of an article I have recently created to correct a grammatical error. (Somerton Railway Station to Somerton railway station). However it is not letting me do it, and I think the reason is because if you search "Somerton railway station" it takes you to a section of the page "Langport and Castle Cary Railway".

Another small query I have is that another article I created, Somerton Tunnel, does not come up in the suggestions in the search bar.

If you could assist me with these problems it will be greatly appreciated.

Articles deletion

I apologize for the inconvenience, but have no other way than appealing for administrators’ help recover a deleted article.

I published a film article entitled Drits (Derivas), a film by Portuguese director Ricardo Costa. It is the second film from an autobiographic trilogy, Faraways. The article was kept untouched by several months. To my surprise, it was recently eliminated and redirected to the director’s page with no discussion. I undid the redirection, but saw the article was proposed to deletion. Reason: independent, verifiable, secondary resources. I argued that the article couldn’t have but primary sources (the producer’s ones) as it is an upcoming film, like many others listed at upcoming films. A film that has not yet been premiered or distributed may not be commented. Besides, none of the films so listed has ever been deleted or even contested.

At last, in discussion, user User:reddogsix proposed that the article should be renamed to Drifts (film) or similar, and at the same time put at the disambiguation page of Dritf this reference «Drifs, unreleased film by Ricardo Costa (filmmaker). I created a new page for the same article entitled Drifts (Portuguese film). As the semantic root “drift” seemed to be the problem, I replaced the article name to Derivas (Drifts) and published it once more with some improvements. As a result, the article was fast deleted and I blocked for three days.

In the meantime, a new article about the trilogy was published: Faraways, which was proposed to fast deletion as well by the same user, User:reddogsix.

Although unreleased, although having no reliable secondary sources, Drifts is unquestionably an outstanding film for its uniqueness and characteristics: autobiography, comedy, docufiction, metafiction in one. I guess that “outstanding” may be a synonym for “notable” in such cases and that articles like this shouldn’t be deleted without previous cared analyses: important information may be lost.

This sequence of interventions is clearly a personal attack by User:reddogsix, supported by two or three user friend. It has no other explanation. It contributes in nothing to improve articles quality. Mists article, which I created on 10 September 2010, is the latest example. The article structure was unreasonably modified, loosing clarity and useful content.

Ammolite

Hi; I have read your article on ammolite. There are a lot of errors but the point of this message is to point out how Korite has been "duping" the public for the last 15 years or so.....around that time they developed what is called the "Q-stone" (really means quad stone). this is a technique where the blend many different layers of ammolite together to create a much more desirable stone. I have been working with ammolite for many years....and you do not get the perfect flagship green,red,blue stone very often..it is rare....but they have it in almost every stone. I think there is nothing wrong with this if the public were to know. It would be equivalent to buying a diamond, made up of little diamond bits! Rumour has it now that they are also using a dye to enhance the colors. The sky blue seen in most of their stones is not a color ever seen in ammolite. Thanks for the lighting fast revert[1] on UBC and also for restoring[2] the University of British Columbia hatnotes. I hastily and incorrectly assumed that there was no discussion on the disambiguation talk page because there were no hatnotes on the University page.

Regarding that disambiguation talk page move discussion, in which you participated, there was absolutely no opposition to redirecting UBC to University of British Columbia rather than the robust UBC (disambiguation) page as summarized here:

Despite this superficial show of unanimous support, I am very concerned that there was no meaningful discussion.

More than half of the discussion came from usernames created the morning of June 14, 2011 (users Handsdown.1, Can.ada.man01, and Psy.kick.chic), apparently for the sole purpose of that move discussion. Of even greater concern to the adequacy of the discussion is that Tone.itdown1901 is now blocked because that user is a "confirmed sock puppet" and "abusively used one or more accounts."

Finally, +mt, a Canadian resident discounts his support by stating "my background possibly biases my viewpoint." User:Hadal, who closed out the discussion, also has this Canadian national bias.

That leaves you as the only non-sock puppet and non-biased party to that discussion. At the time you said, "It is not obvious that there is a primary target for the three letter combination. Suggest a fuller discussion before moving." Given your reluctance to move then, the apparent inadequacy of the discussion, and the specter of sock puppetry, would you support revisiting this issue?

Help writing page

Hadal, I'm trying to make a page about a famous lumberjack (who just happens to be my son). As an elderly man, trying to figure this out is daunting. I believe he meets all the criteria and I have enough information to at least get it started, hoping that others will add to the page later. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Hadal. A question about redirects or maybe it's a bigger problem... no one is looking for Franklin Pierce College... I asked to have that page and redirect deleted since the Franklin Pierce University page is working fine. However, I think with the redirect, search engines are indexing College and displaying College instead of the actual redirected target name of Franklin Pierce University. I don't want Wiki info being used by Google if the info is not correct! You might call it a flaw of the Search engine... but it's actually a flaw by design of the Wiki redirect.
