Submitting Original Content...Or Trying To[edit]

Dear Harro5,

I tried posting the biography of 20th century American movie theater design pioneer William Harold Lee, but unsuccessfully, given how I was not the original author of it. I wasn't aiming to violate any copyright laws, but was under the impression that the biography I was attemting to submit was so generic that copyright protection did not apply. Live and learn.

So I'm now submitting for your review my own version in hope that you'll find it acceptable. The only thing that remains identical to what I mistakenly attempted submitting before is William Harold Lee's dates of birth and death. All else is written in my own words through and through. Please submit the following for me, or tell me how I can. Meantime, if you need to contact me, my e-mail address is <Freedom_2001@Juno.com>

Thank You

Here is my own version of the William Harold Lee biography:

Born: 12/9/1884, Died: 2/3/1971

William Harold Lee, a protege of acclaimed Phladelphia architectFrank Furness, was a leading pioneer of 20th century movie theater designs, many of which only recently have begun receiving all new recognition. While sadly some of his greatest theaters have been demolished, in most cases the theaters he designed which still exist today are being restored with the greatest of care, most notably the Majestic Theatre in Gettysburg, PA, Bryn Mawr Theatre in Bryn Mawr, PA and Hiway Theatre in Jenkintown, PA.

Below is a full list of theaters he is credited for:

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theater, Coral Gables, FL, Open Anthony Wayne Theatre, Wayne, PA, Open Ardmore Theater, Ardmore, PA, Closed Astor Theatre, Reading, PA, Closed/Demolished Bryn Mawr Theater, Bryn Mawr, PA, Open/Renovating/Restoring … Casino Theatre, Wildwood, NJ, Closed/Demolished City Line Center Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed Ellis Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed/Demolished Embassy Theatre, Reading, PA, Closed/Demolished Eric's Place Theater, Philadelphia, PA, Closed Erlen Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed/Demolished Family Theater, Philadelphia, PA, Closed/Demolished Fans Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed/Demolished Goldman Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed/Demolished Hill Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed/Demolished Hiway Theater, Jenkintown, PA, Open/Renovating/Restoring Holme/Pennypack Theatre, Philadelphia,PA, Closed Jefferson Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed Landis Theatre, Vineland, NJ, Closed Lansdowne Theatre, Lansdowne Borough, PA, Closed Lindy Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed Majestic Theater, Gettysburg, PA, Renovating Model Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed Narberth Theatre, Narberth, PA, Open News Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed/Demolished Norris Theatre, Norristown, PA, Demolished Northeastern Theater, Philadelphia, PA, Closed Palace Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed/Demolished Park Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed/Demolished Rialto Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed Royal Theatre, Philadelphia, PA, Closed Sedgwick Cultural Center, Philadelphia, PA, Open State Theatre, Easton, PA, Open Victoria Theatre, Shamokin, PA, Closed/Demolished Walt Whitman Theatre, Pennsauken, NJ, Closed/Demolished

I'm resubmitting this bio in my own words, not realizing my previous attempt was in copyright violation. Please post it. Thank you

Hello. How many entries must I or others add to this list before it ceases to be {{db-empty}}?  Thanks, David Kernow 00:50, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • More than the one which was present when I deleted the page. I could name ten notable collapses right now, but a list of only one wasn't worth keeping. Harro5 01:34, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice and my apologies for not responding sooner. I have recently recreated the page to include more than one example and another user has also added some entries. Hey there...[edit]

You deleted my artical 'Kahami Wolfbane', and I was wondering why. ^_^

If you could, please restore it, or I can re-type it, I just wanted to know why you deleted it.

You have just deleted this article twice, once under CSD:G1 and then under CSD:G4. Firstly, it seems that the consensus regarding CSD:G4 is that it only applies to articles previously deleted via an AfD (see Wikipedia_talk:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion/Archive5#G4_Criteria). Secondly, while the article in question is certainly a very poor one, it is by no means patent nonsense, which is what CSD:G1 is about. If you don't mind, I will undelete it and put it up for a proper AfD. With any luck, someone would pick this up and turn it into a real article. Owen× 23:18, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think I got a bit more than I bargained for: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Slave training... I guess this goes to show that what is a Speedy delete for one, is a Speedy keep for another. Owen× 02:12, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I can understand why you chose to remove the speedy delete tag, but considering I did go to the effort of both restubbing and mentioning that in the edit summary, but why did you choose to cause me to have to go the effort (and additional edit) of restubbing it again? I typically send a few articles each day to speedy delete or AfD as I engage in stub sorting, but even when I do so, I do go ahead and restub the article as seems best since not all of my nominations go through. Caerwine 06:10, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reply here. Harro5 06:12, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • A single stub is certainly the goal, and was indeed at one time the recommendation, now two stubs is the recommended maximum of the stub sorting project, but more are tolerated if needed for nuance, provided that it relates to the central reason why the subject is notable. For instance, Mr. Hardin is an American print journalist who covers sports. However, there is no {{US-sport-newspaper-journalist-stub}} so instead to convey that multiple stub types are needed, each providing a narrowing in the topic. Now if he also happened to be a recreational golfer, that might be noteworthy enough to mention in the article, but it wouldn't be noteworthy enough to add {{golfbio-stub}} unless he had done something like win the U.S. Amateur Public Links. (Polymaths who are notable for more than one reason are always a problem when stub-sorting.) Caerwine 06:51, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'll chime in to agree with Caerwine. With most stub articles it's impossible to accurately categorise them with only one template. It would be like only allowing one category for a finished article. Quite a large number of stub articles actually have three templates (which is okay but not brilliant) and the majority probably have two. Consider two examples: 1) a stub article on Bill Hammond. There are plenty of stubs on New Zealanders (marked NZ-bio-stub) and plenty on artists (artist-stub), but only three or four on New Zealand artists - certainly nowhere near enough for a specific NZ-artist-stub. Under those circumstances, bioth templates are used. 2) a stub on the Tuscumbia River, which flows through Tennessee and Mississippi states. This gets both Tennessee-geo-stub and Mississippi-geo-stub, for obvious reasons. Grutness...wha? 06:08, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Was amazed to see this had been changed back, once more... Naturally, I've re-added the deleted tags. There's indeed no such policy (much less practice), for the reasons ably explained above. To be precise, there's a guideline that says that more than two is "strongly discouraged" (and even that's over-egging things IMO). Alai 05:31, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I orginally was going to tag the article Nitpickery as {{dicdef}}. I decided not to based upon the fact that I don't believe it is a real word. I can not find it at dictionary.reference.com [1]. There are variations of the word. My question to you is, is it fit for Wiktionary? In my opinion it's not, but I've only vistited Wiktionary once before so I am not familiar with its inclusion of words. Although a quick search for Nitpicker on Wiktionary shows these entries [2] I do not think that Nitpickery is a real word, or slang. I'd really appreciate your thoughts on if the article Nitpickery should still be moved to Wiktionary, or Speedy Deleted, or maybe even put up for AfD? Thank you for your time. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk. 06:18, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know. It needs to be deleted somehow, maybe as CSD G1. But that would be unfair, as the word "nitpick" is used in slang (eg. She's always nitpicking, focusing on the smallest errors in my work.) I'll AFD it now. Harro5 06:21, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Kelis Tracklist deletion?[edit]

Hi there,

I am a big Kelis fan and am writing on behalf of the fans at Ultimatekelis.com. Recently a new Kelis track named 'Bossy' has surfaced on the net and we are all very excited about the new single and possibly the release of an upcoming album (noted to be BAD-aboom). I was looking into wikipedia and noticed that a possible tracklist was recently deleted from wikipedia. I was wondering if you could possibly give me any information on this tracklist, details, source ect as there are many confused kelis fans awaiting some news. The official kelis site is not regulary updated and as such, we dont receive any news other than what we find online - recently, the source for most of our news has been wikipedia.

If you could get back to me at ultimatethombus@gmail.com with any information, i will be greatly appreciative. I have also took the liberty of adding the note (TBC) onto the kelis page next to the 'BAD-aboom' link just in case this turns out to be a big rumour and no truth.

Thank you for your assistance.

Tom

Your feedback needed on "Rajputs and Buddhism"[edit]

I am curious about your reaction to the stub Rajputs and Buddhism.

The main point of the article is the tradition of religious tolerance, and the support and protection provided by the Rajput kings to a tiny religious minority, based on well documented historical sources.

There would be others who might have a similar reaction. I will appreciate hearing from you what struck to you as nonsense; so that I can ensure I have addressed your concerns, as I write the full article.

Ive sent it to peer review for two days, but no reply. Comments would be appreciated. Thanks. Oran e (t) (c) (e-mail) 02:23, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This article is improving, and well done on what you have achieved thus far. Before it becomes featured at the Schools Portal - and it's very close - I'd look to see a couple more sections just fleshed out a bit more. On a related note, any chance of a picture or two of the school? Currently, there's the school logo, and then the school logo in a blurry blazer pic. Keep up the good work though! Harro5 03:18, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

In my view, to expand: History, Academics, Senior school academics, Moray, The Arts, and any more alumni you can think of that have Wikipedia articles. Have a look at either Caulfield Grammar School or Hopkins School, in my view the two best school article, and see how no section is really too small. That's what the aim is. Harro5 03:26, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
I have expanded the sections. Could you please check the article for errors? I will attempt to get some photos on Friday. Hamedog 15:34, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for the showcase article status on the PSHS article! I am very proud of the article, considering how little reference material I've had to go on. When I go home for break, I intend to add to the article using references from the local libraries (which have a certain book about the history of the school district) and take a few pictures of the school. Hey, thanks for the advice, here's what I plan to do, if you are interested:
  • any more notable graduates - still need to put a call into the school to see about this. It will be easier when I'm actually in Plano.
  • the history section is a little bare - I will beef this up with information from the references in the Plano Public Libraries
  • some more info on academics - This is easily done. I'll take care of it when I'm done with exams!
  • if US public schools have fees - Plano is a free public school (Yay!)
  • add a heading to the football table - This need to be converted to a better table format anyways, and I will add a header when I make that change.
Thank you so much! When I make all these changes sometime over break, I will let you know and look forward to your input! -Scm83x 07:28, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • I made the change to the table and I was wondering if you had any idea how to add more spacing around a table using wikitable style. If you do, you can go ahead and add it to the page. Otherwise, maybe you can point me somewhere I can find more information, considering Help:Table isn't really all that helpful... Thanks! -Scm83x 05:09, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Any ideas on the spacing around the table? -Scm83x 05:23, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I noticed you have reverted my change of tag to speedy deletion. The page is empty, doesn't that qualify it to be speedy-deleted? Just a thought. Good day. -- Eagleamn 07:26, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • The {{deletedpage}} tag is a notice to the anons creating this article that they shouldn't do it again. The article has been speedied or AfD deleted a few times, and so this is sometimes useful way of getting the point across that we don't want that article. Sounds like some discussion re Melbourne is in order.. ;)[edit]

Hey there. Just noticed a semi-revert of the Melbourne article that you just performed. I disagree with the parliament building image being there if you're prepared to remove so many others. Why is it more relevent than any of the other (higher quality in both aesthetics and image quality) photos of Melbourne landmarks? Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 22:14, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Also, an infobox is all well and good but I just think that Melbourne needs a representative image near the top to introduce the city. Perhaps this issue should be in the peer review... Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 22:16, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You speedied this article, and replaced it with {{deletedpage}}, but did not protect it. Was that your intent? (Seeing as {{deletedpage}} categorises into Category:Protected deleted pages...) Jamie (talk/contribs) 09:29, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not sure there's any rule that says you always must protect a {{deletedpage}}. There's discussion of the topic on Template talk:Deletedpage, but it reads more like a guidleline that a rule. It just seemed to me inconsistent not to, since because of the category that the template categorises into... Jamie (talk/contribs) 10:11, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Harro5,

This is Peter Trevino (User:PeterGay).

If I understand the message correctly you deleted my web pages because they were considered "selfpromotion." Yes, it was my book I was writing a Wikipedia contribution page about; but would it have been different if somebody else had submitted the page instead of me?

The book "The Gay Ghost" has been published (http://www.thegayghost.com) and I thought that was a justifiable reason to place a contribution page in Wikipedia. If this is not the case, please let me know.

I never meant to override the rules and regulations of Wikipedia. But if I did I assure you it was unintentional. I still think that as a published author my book deserves a place in Wikipedia. But if I am wrong I would appreciate if you'd let me know at PedroGay@aol.com

Thank you for any help you can give me,

A webpage that I have created has been deleted, and I really don't understand why...It is a factual statement of a product name and description, and yet it has been deleted. Please advise.

My RfA[edit]

Victory!

My RfA just closed with an admirable 22/4/1. Many thanks for supporting, and one more round of thanks for the FA help; the next time I see you, remind me to buy you a (-insert stereotypical Australian drink-). Deltabeignet 23:39, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Multipurpose Tree[edit]

Hi, I made a stub for Multipurpose Tree, which you deleated. This is a standard term used in agroforestry, particularly tropical agroforestry. The stub was deleated by you as an “unknown concept”. As proof that it is a real term I am citing the following:

Google using the exact phrase feature gave 22,500 hits for "Multipurpose Tree"

Amazon lists 68 books with Multipurpose Tree in the title (some are trees instead of tree)

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) uses it here [3]

Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) uses it here [4]

Purdue University uses it here [5]

Cornell University uses it here [6]

Thanks, just want to know what it takes to get the stub restored. Brimba 07:52, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

deleted article[edit]

Hey, you just deleted my article. I believe this may be in error. There was already a list of debate topics on the main article policy debate and I was merely expanding the list to make it complete. The text was copied from a non-commerical website and these resolutions are not copyrighted. Savidan 08:17, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

ToeTapp Deletion[edit]

Hi. You have just deleted my submission for the sport of toetapp. while I understand that what we are doing is not the most well recognised sport in the world it is something that we are doing quite seriously ad therefore should warrant a place on Wikipedia. We have had interest from the extreme sports channel as well as some slightly less well known cable channels so it isn';t somethin that is completely ridiculous.

Although we are not an extreme sport in the true sense of the word what we are doing is a jokey satirical look at the world of extreme sports proving that often the culture is greater than the sport itself.

the page I wrote was not a hoax and I would appreciate it if you could reinstate it as soon as possible. Wikipedia is a fantastic resource that is availible for everyone to learn more about strange and interesting things (like toetapp) and I feel that we deserve a page as much as the next person.

If you would like me to re-word anything or alter links etc then please let me know. Please also let me know why the page was deleted so quickly.

I look forward to hearing fromyou as soon as possible

Billly Preston Article[edit]

I put a lot of time and effort into an article I wrote about a Billy Preston album named The Wildest ORgan In Town. Why was it edited so severely? Was that really necessary?

Hey[edit]

How come Scot Reutzel(WhatEgo) was deleted?

Now why is the WhatEgo one getting deleted? No reasoning behind it.

My Article[edit]

That still doesn't explain why you couldn't have simply edited that. If i'm not mistaken, that's also one of the premises that this site is built upon. It was rude to simply delete all that I wrote.

Thanks[edit]

Thank you very much for the warm welcome and the cookie, and most importantly, thanks for all of the time and effort you have contributed to Wikipedia. This really is an amazing site. Have a great holiday. :) Regards, Kw 07:04, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You can't even let me finish?

Because there are two very different "Eastside"s in Long Beach, I've created a brief description of the differences, which will be transcribed into the Long Beach, California article, as well as separate articles on each Eastside, and a disambiguation page. How come you deleted http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Shaun_Verreault&action=edit

unofficial industry term[edit]

this is regarding the article i put up recently about Six Best Practices. your comment was "verify: is this an industry term? or neologism", as far as i know it is not an industry term but it is sometimes used unofficially. im new to wikipeadia so if you could give me suggestions on how i would go about indicating it.

also, while im at it. i would like to add anoter article about the term Decomposition as used in computer science. however, there is a decomposition article already. do you know what to do about terms that sound the same but have different meanings? thanks

all your hard work is fantastic and i congratulate you. however it has come to my attention that sometimes you are over-enthusiastic in your dismissal of other people's hard work. I ask you..who are you to be an authority on every subject as a young school student and how exactly do you make your decision so quickly as to whether an article is worth leaving up? yours sincerely, Charles.

Deleted and protected article[edit]

I was trying to put some article about Novosoft, becuase I was new at doing this. I put there some text which appers to be as an advertising for wiki. I tried to fix it immediately but it was blocked after several attemps. Could you please advise if and how it can be fixed?

Hi,

Thanks for drawing that to my attention. Yeah, I do feel a bit odd about it. I've never met another Ben Aveling. In fact, I'm only aware of one other, a british police officer who made the news for preventing a petrol station from exploding. I'm sure there are others, but they've never shown up online before.

Thank you for your support of the Article Improvement Drive.
This week {{subst:IDRIVEtopic article}} was selected to be improved to featured article status.
Hope you can help.

Please don't trash this as vandalism![edit]

Sorry Harro, couldn't find another way to send you a message rather than edit a page.. :P On the Caulfield page, in the Infobox (which is damn hard to edit) the word enrolment is incorrectly spelled 'enrollment' I think. I would just change that rather than bother posting this, but I'm a pretty new user and don't know where the Infobox stuff is - I can't change them.

Feel free to remove this post completely, it's just a message.

Idea[edit]

I reduced it a bit from Selena using a direct link to the rfc, which I think was going too far, perhaps I could replace the Stalin image with one of a userbox. I'm going to let people know that I participated in this, but I try to consider myself a reasonable person, and I can understand how comparing something to Stalin would be inflammatory. karmafist 22:31, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Selena's a good kid, she just gets too fired up. Anyway, let me know what you think now. I don't particularly agree, or for that matter enjoy being around, Kelly or others like her, but I can definately understand her issues with how frustrating the internal workings of Wikipedia can be at times. Thank you for your kind words, please let me know if I can assist you in the future.karmafist 22:39, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, Happy New Year, my friend. karmafist 22:56, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly advise you to file some sort of RfC or RfArb against this user, who in my view should be indefinitely blocked for the worst case of WP:POINT and WP:NPA I have ever seen on Wikipedia. I'm a rational admin, and have only blocked trolls to date, but I can't help but look at this user as wiki-stalking you, and don't want to stand idly by. Maybe if they file a request for arbitration against you I will make a statement against her poor poor behaviour in these matters. Harro5 22:01, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do not feel that there would be any benefit to taking such punitive measures against Ms. Kyle. I am content to allow the community to decide what, if any, action should be taken in relation to her conduct. Kelly Martin (talk) 22:37, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do I need to be "registered" in some manner to make additions? Is there a style guide users need to use? Did you consider my additions factually untrue or simply extraneous? Do inputs to Wikipedia need to be documented in some manner for sources? Did I use material not in the public domain?

I am astonished and impressed with your energy and enthusiasm. Congratulations on your efforts.

Major overhaul at Plano Senior High School[edit]

Just thought I'd drop you a line lettign you know that I got around to making big changes at the PSHS article. These were the concerns you had earlier; I've written what I've done to address them.

  • any more notable graduates - taken care of, we have five now, which is reasonable
  • the history section is a little bare - this was tonight's big edit, what do you think?
  • some more info on academics - this still needs to be done, but as I said before, is very easy
  • add a heading to the football table - football table completed converted

Let me know what new changes should be made to the article. Thanks so much! Scm83x 13:55, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! Thanks so much for selecting the article for featured status on the schools portal. I just added a little bit more... I hope I did it right, as I noticed that you were the only editor of the page before me. I added the founding date, and a short mention of the football team. I know it's the schools portal, but I think a small mention of the football team is warranted. I'm not sure of policy on this, so let me know if I messed up there. Thank you so much again! — Scm83x talk 07:38, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CDIH.net[edit]

I am curious as to why this entry was deleted. it wasnt an advertisement. it was a historical reference to a period in time held very dearly by the 2500 past and present members. I am currently working on a major update of the entry and would hope that it wouldnt be deleted by someone who is not knowledgable of its history and origins.

Playwright vs. Playright, and your attack on my work[edit]

Dear Harro5, in 23 articles, I changed instances of "playright" to "playwright". In one article, on Caulfield Grammar School, there was a publishing company which, according to research I did at the time, actually spells its name with "Playright", and I inserted a note to warn editors not to change it. Then you flamed all over my work. Should I not have changed "playright" (which is not an English word) to "playwright" (which is an English word)? Should I not have put a note in the Caulfield article about the unusual spelling of the company name? Should I make other editors do their own research on that name when they notice it? Should I let the editors who notice it and who don't bother to research it change it to the English word, so it is no longer the name of the company? Please take a long, hard look at what I did, and what you did, then explain in better detail what mistake was made, who made it, and what steps should be taken to correct it. Chris the speller 04:56, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I was checking the quality of your work, just to see if there is some higher standard that I should be shooting for, selected one of your recent changes at random, and it was John Ashcroft. You might want to take another look at that to see if the result is what you intended. Chris the speller 05:18, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Apology accepted, thanks for straightening it out. It was not the best way to meet a fellow editor, but at least we met. Good luck on Wikipedia, and elsewhere. Please consider me a resource, should a question ever arise. OK, get back to work! Chris the speller 17:40, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Meredith Belbin deleted, why?[edit]

Sorry for the trouble, but I can't find any mention of a reason for deleting the article on Meredith Belbin. Could you provide any info on either the reason or where to find out the reason?

I've been trying to find information on Belbin's team roles, but the mentions in wikipedia seem to point to the Meredith Belbin article. I'm reluctant to add an article on the team roles as the deletion of the Meredith article indicates there may be wider problems.

Edited After a bit more reading, I found the reasoning here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/delete&page=Meredith_Belbin

I've left this post in case someone else comes by with the same question, but feel free to remove if needed.

Thanks lots —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adeio (talkcontribs)

Hi Harro5, Looking at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Meredith Belbin it seems the delete was correct (assuming that there wasn't a valid page somewhere in the history), but that the page shouldn't have been protected against recreation. Entry on "Philosophy of computer science"[edit]

Dear Harro,

I've noticed that you've deleted my entry on the philosophy of computer science. The event is listed in the deletion log as follows:

22:36, 23 January 2006 Harro5 deleted "Philosophy of computer science" (CSD A8. content was: '{{db-copyvio}}')

I understand from the code 'db-copyvio' that you suspect that the entry was a copyright violation of the web page in the URL you quoted.

You were right: The entry in Wikipedia repeats the definition we gave in our web page. Since I wrote both, your suspicious is correct. However, how can I be violating my own 'copyright'?

In addition, our Web page in pcs.essex.ac.uk is evidently NOT commercial, so I fail to understand the reasons for the speedy deletion.

I am confident that the Wikipedia entry I wrote is current and in good size, but I will be happy to extend it. I will be happy to extend it with more material but I would like to prevent this unfortunate event from repeating itself.

I can be contacted at eden-at-essex.ac.uk.

An Esperanzial note[edit]

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please restore the page on Thor Misen which you deleted - I am the poet, and thought that it might help me expose some new people to my work. You can read my work on www.thormisen.com - I don't have the money for marketing or publicity.

I've quickly added a number of images I got from the school archivist. In addition to the images I've got quite a bit of history to flesh out the history section. Reversion of edits[edit]

I would like to ask why you reverted my edits on the Portal:Schools Showcase articles? I simply added the name of another school, Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas that cleary meets the characteristics of good quality and is better than a couple of those listed. If you are not allowed to add a school then it should say so on the article and give information about the proper procedure of nominating one. Next time rather than just reverting it could you please leave a message on my talk page about why as it is proper procedure. Thank you. JCP2 is here![edit]

I know you probably won't be able to contribute very much as you know little about the school, but I just wanted to let you know about this as it has to do with schools and Wikipedia. At last after much request JCP2 has been created. If you who don't know, JCP2 is a special sub-project dedicated to the development of the article into a featured article. JCP2 is not a WikiProject but rather a unique place to discuss and plan out the development and collaboration on the Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas article. JCP2 is an effort to move beyond the Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas talk page and create a forum for improvement and growth of the article. Please add you name to the list of participants on the project page if you are interested. Thanks and I look forward to your help and hard work. Another Esperanzial note...[edit]

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

I looked at the variety of bots available and I've posted a note for Bluebot: User_talk:Bluebot#Can_your_bot_help.3F. Of course, the easiest solution would be to leave the visible text saying "enrolment" but change the parameter back to "enrollment". enochlau (talk) 05:39, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hopkins School[edit]

Hopkins School is up for peer review, and anything you could note as a member of WP:Schools would be appreciated! Thanks! Staxringold 11:57, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think the edits made by the IP address could be by the school? Look at their contribs, its their only edit. BTW, this is User:Hamedog, im just signed out at the moment.

Can you explain your deletion of the quotes section from the article? I am in the process of reading the book at the moment and am intending to add to it. Grant65 | Talk 14:38, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What the hell are you on about? There is absolutely no copyright problem with quoting any book, article, webpage (etc) as long as you don't reproduce the whole thing. And plenty of Wikipedia articles have quotes sections. Grant65 | Talk 11:53, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you are listed as a participant in the WikiProject Melbourne. If you are a Melbourne resident I would appreciate your views on the suggested Meetup in March . Please give some indication of your interest, or otherwise, in the idea. Even a simple "No thanks" with your user name would be welcome and assist in assessing the level of support for a meetup. Thank you.. Cuddy Wifter 06:30, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

POV on AFL articles[edit]

Poor form mate. Instead of deleting the content, add it to the discussion pages or better yet, do something as a part of WP:AFL and fix it up to make it sound less "editoralised". Rogerthat Talk 09:56, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Hawkins[edit]

Hi Harro5. I have been talking to Rogerthat on User Talk:Rogerthat and User Talk:Meegs about your edit that changed Tom Hawkins from a biography of a Aussie football player into a redirect. I know there's some history between you two, but I just want to talk about this one page. Would it be ok if we did one of the following?

  1. Restored the article with a disambiguated name, Tom Hawkins (footballer) or something
  2. Restored the article to Tom Hawkins and put it up on AFD

The football player looks pretty marginal to me too, but at least two of its editors have expressed stong feelings since your edit, and I'm sure would like the forum to defend it. ×Meegs 10:02, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for going through this last hurdle. Also, I have no question about your contributions to the AFL articles. Cheers. ×Meegs 12:06, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is obviously accepted on Wikipedia to insert a comma in. Please stop changing this, as I just have to revert your edits. Thanks. Harro5 05:46, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How is this "obvious"? I see both versions with and without a comma. Most style guides explicitly disallow the comma, and I couldn't find an explicit rule either way on Wikipedia. Could you please explain why you "have to" revert my edits? (Sorry if your talk page isn't the proper place for this comment -- I'd appreciate an explanation as to where such discussion is appropriate if not here. Thanks.) Harro why do keep altering my Brendan Joseland page into a stub? It took several hours to complete and the stub asks the reader to expand it, which is what I already have done. Is there something that needs changing?

G'day Harro, I've fixed up the Joseland article so that it appears more concise and has less focus on individual matches (while still noting their importance). I hope this is more to your liking. Rogerthat Talk 02:02, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I am just curious why did you close a AFD after an hour and a half? According to the Deletion policy early closing are allowed for examples such as: a clear consensus for speedy deletion, a clear consensus for a speedy keep, or a consensus for a redirect. This was not speedy delted, but normally deleted and should have remained for the full 5 days. Mike (T C) 02:13, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Harro5

You deleted The Hemobag but I have permission from the company to create the wikipedia entry.

Although the Hemobag is a commercial product, it is legitimately one of about 3 ways to process and transfuse a patient's own autologous blood during surgery. Moreover, the article is loaded with valuable background information on blood salvaging and educational references on "bloodless surgery" and bloodless surgey websites and also takes a neutral point of view on the product.

I note that wikipedia has other entires on blood salvage companies, most notably [Haemonetics]: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haemonetics They have a company entry with none of the educational material that I used in the Hemobag entry. Seems weird to me!

I think the Hemobag should be reinstated. What's needed to make it acceptable? Thanks.

Radio Five Live[edit]

Why did you delete the BBC Radio Five Live article when you are Australian and a high school student?

Hi. You speedied Third culture as "patent nonsense". It wasn't, I'm afraid. As it happens, we already have third culture kid, and it seems nothing would need to be merged. Please be sure that something is actually nonsense (at least Google for it, for example) before deleting under that criterion. — Matt Crypto 10:37, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Harro5,

I'm still fairly new to Wikipedia and have been writing some articles relating to the Australian designer and inventor John Joyce. He was the founder of Bowin Cars, an Australian Car Company that designed and manufactured a whole class of racing cars in the 60's and 70's. John Joyce also went onto invent the low Nox burner, a burner that significantly reduces Nitrogen Dioxide emission. The technology has been granted world wide patents and is a significant contribution to gas-fired heating industry.

He also invented the Set-n-forget Cooker - an article you have marked for deletion. The article is important as it relates to a body of John Joyces inventions.

My goal was to write articles on the individual inventions and lastly write the article on the principle inventor John Joyce. The main article on John JOyce would inter-relate the inventions throughtout his life.

I agree with you, by itself the Set-n-Forget article is a obscure and insignificant, but in context with all the other designs it can be very interesting.

Do you have any tips on the best way to approach my goal?

Regards,

Ashley

I didn't request a deletion as such: I requested that the histories of BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio Five Live be merged (to fix a copy-and-paste move), following the instructions at Wikipedia:How to fix cut and paste moves. According to that page, an administrator must temporarily delete the article, then follow the repair process. Since I am not an administrator, I couldn't do this myself! --Marknew 13:20, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry: it's been done now. --Marknew 18:28, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete the article about the band The Suspendees?[edit]

You have deleted the article about The Suspendees twice.

It says you have deleted it due to CSD A7.

I could not find any information on CSD A7.

Please tell me why you have deleted this.

You did it again.[edit]

Stop deleting The Suspendees article.

What is your reason?!

-Monkey_Rad_7

I've reworked the Set-n-Forget Cooker Article[edit]

Could you please re-examine your initial decision to delete this article. When you first looked at it... I was still in the process of writing the article. I have now finished my input at this stage. Whats different... you may ask? Well, as you will see the product was invented in 1970 and was the first ever known automated deep fryer sold. It failed to reach expectations and was pulled from the market a few years later. It may be to do with another things, extra cost and complexity for users. Lets face it in the fast food industry it was quicker and more practical to hang hand-held baskets in the oil. Fast food outlets can also be sporadic in demand so the little canisters would not cook volumes of fried food quickly. I personally feel the article is extremely interesting for people interested on the topic of deep fryers. This is one of those time capsule that people love to read about. You won't find this information any where else, which adds value to the wikipedia site.

I was just wondering why you deleted the page on George Trosley. Was that at all necessary? I'd appreciate if you explained that to me and if your problem was that it was of no importance you might want to check half of the articles on this website, mate. I don't care who the hell you are and that your a big, bad Wikipedia admin. I suggest that you grow up and let articles that support local stars have a chance. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that page and some fans here in America would benefit from being able to access it.

Recreation of deleted pages[edit]

What actions could be taken if a sockpuppet of a banned user is recreating a deleted article over and over again? I didn't find a general rule for this in the policy... --DmitryKo 00:04, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've locked this page from being created again. The only way to stop a sockpuppet from doing this otherwise would have been to continually ban each new account, but this may serve as a better measure. Thanks for your work watching for junk in the new creations. Harro5 00:22, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Actually, I've approached it from the opposite side, that is by investigating new sockpuppet accounts of the user in question and all their respective edits :) And it was a really upleasant surprise to learn that the article was recreated on the very next day following intitial deletion, and no-one even noticed it until some 4 months after! What a smart kid of a sockpuppeteer... --DmitryKo 00:38, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

under a new name[edit]

Holy hell! He now recreated the article using a slightly different name: Chief Marshal Of The Air Force of the Russian Federation (edit · talk · links · history · watch)

I see its your 1 year anniversary on editing, isn't that marvelous.[edit]

I'd appreciate to know why you deleted the George Trosley page.

Deleting is fun?[edit]

Why did you delete an article about a future NHL star???

Please explain[edit]

Can you just please explain why its necessary to delete the page. There is substantial purpose for this article.

Due diligence?[edit]

I also checked the list of recent candidate speedies, but did not delete some of them as I found (after checking on Google) that the subjects were indeed notable. For example, Soft on Demand is Japans largest independent "adult video" producer with 116,000 Google hits. Do you feel that you exercise due diligence before speedy deleting articles?

Kind Regards, Elf-friend 08:46, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response and the spirit in which you have answered my question. Well, two of the speedy candidates that I didn't delete - in retrospect I suppose I should have removed the tags, then :-/ - were "Agnar Helgason" (seems a genuinely notable Icelandic geneticist that has been widely quoted in reputable media outlets, for example see [8])) and "Carlos Trillo" (I've never heard of him, but Google ([9]) reveals all kind of comic book-related sites that mention him; he is no newbie either, having been born in 1943 with a lot of publications to his name that are even in university collections ([10]).

o9 deletion[edit]

can you explain why you deleted the o9 article? was it because it was a stub or some other reason. the band is well known and influential, as i cited in the talk page. i really dont understand how trashing this article is helpful, i am slowly working on helping to flush out details on artists in the underground electronic music scene so o9 will be added back, i just need to know how to avoid these deletions.

Joshsteiner 21:39, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ok, you say it needs to meet those criteria, but in the talk page i explicitely explain how it meets this criteria:
  1. Is frequently covered in publications devoted to a notable sub-culture.
this deletion process is really a heavy stick, its a very unfriendly way to treat contributers. why did you not just reply on the talk page instead of just trashing the article? Joshsteiner 22:05, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"Important note: This is NOT a criteria for speedy deletion. The fact an article doesn't meet guidelines on this page does not necessarily mean it qualifies for speedy deletion, as a mere claim of notability (even if contested) may avoid deletion under A7." i made such a claim and it was ignored. Five-year plans of Nepal[edit]

Please avoid Avoid_Copyright_Paranoia. You speedy deleted my article Five-year plans of Nepal which used public domain text from the Library of Congress Country Studies. I indicated this in the reference section of the article and the talk section had a template for Wikipedia:WikiProject Library of Congress Country Studies, which explained the source. The text was on another website, but it originally came from the LOC Country Studies and is public domain. Please be more careful when deleting pages. It would have only taken a little effort to see that this was not a copyright violation.--Bkwillwm 22:55, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and please restore the article.--Bkwillwm 23:04, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Caulfield Grammar School and the main page[edit]

My take on it is as follows - Caulfield Grammar School and the University of Michigan are two entirely different beasts. By that, I mean we don't have prepetual infighting going on about whether or not to include universities -- everyone agrees that we should. On hte other hand, there has been, for most of the time I have been here, a bitter, nasty dispute about whether or not to include high schools (which I have, much to my ongoing happiness, avoided like the plague). I feel that featuring this article would be akin to throwing gasoline on a raging fire, which I am obviously not keen to do. Raul654 23:47, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hopkins[edit]

As for the college process I got reject from Vassar, I'm into UConn Honors and UMass Amherst, and I'm waiting to hear from Skidmore, Carnegie Mellon, and Case Western. As for Hopkins, I'm waiting on Stuyvesant but also waiting to hear back from some folks in the Development office. I want to see if any of them have a digital map of the campus I can include to make the layout more clear (as it looks almost nothing like the cool, original plan from 1922). I should know from them in a week or so, so basically after that I'll probably make the FAC push. Thanks for all the help! Staxringold 00:41, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

Cacofiend mess[edit]

It wasn't very nice of you to do two RfD's (including a speedy) to the stub I wrote, without actually even trying to discuss anything with me. Especially since you deleted it when it was no longer a Speedy candidate according to rules, and that you put the other request based on misconception (you called it a cheat). --Arny 10:19, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed that you deleted the talk page to Anti-consumerism but I'm curious if the speedy tag was added as a form of vandalism. It just seems odd that an article that big wouldn't have had any discussion at all. Is it really necessary to delete empty talk pages anyway? I thought they were only deleted if there was no corresponding article. Anyway, maybe you could double check Talk:Anti-consumerism's history to see if there was any content. Thanks. --TM 22:41, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

4IM[edit]

You have just deleted this page Harro5 and I was wondering why. I understand that there was another page called 4IM that was deleted partly because someone had said the 4 was trying to escpae from the 3 and 5 and partly because it had recieved no media coverage, but since the last page was deleted the party has received media coverage http://www.cornwall24.co.uk/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=10369 so I think that the deletion was unfair and unnesacrry. It is a valid polilitcal party that has links in other Wiki articles as well as media coverage, and its ambition to stand in the 2009/10 UK general elections make it worthy in my eyes to have a site in an online encyclopedia, I also ask you to take time to read its policices http://register4independence.bravehost.com/index.html and I think you will agree with me that their views make sense and desreve a page in Wiki.--Rhydd Meddwl 21:49, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm new to wikipedia editing (though have done a bit anonymously in the past) so I was wondering if you could tell me how we can get this page recognised so it is not deleted again? Why did you delete the publicy entry?[edit]

Why did you delete the publicy entry? It's meant as a serious contribution. Please comment to wikipedia@publicy.org.

I don't think it is correct that you deleted my article[edit]

First of al I posted an article about a loved Romanian group 3rei sud est, and you deleted it without letting me know. I don't find it sorrect as a renamed professor, Marshall McLuhan's student, if you know about him, has told me that everyone can post whatever he wants on Wikipedia, if requested. Teher is a big number of Romanians abroad want information about them. I have a lot of friends in America and Canada who wish this. So, I will post it again and I hope tou won't delete it anymore. We want to promote Romania and Romanian music abroad, so be kind and let this article at its place.

Schools Portal featured pictures[edit]

Harro again! I was taking a look at the Schools Portal and thought that maybe some of the new pictures in the Plano Senior High School article might make great featured pictures for the school portal. The images I had in mind included the following images, which are all public domain or GFDL:

Thanks alot for giving these images some consideration!

Also, perhaps it might be a good idea to setup a subpage for the schools portal featured pictures, so that we don't lose that designation for them when they fall off the main page. We will have to watch fair use claims in the pictures if we are creating a gallery. For fair use images perhaps we should just use a [[:Image:fairuse school picture.jpg]] type approach. Let me know. — Scm83x hook 'em 05:19, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Since you are the manager of the portal, and the pictures are mine (so I have some preference toward their inclusion), I wanted to ask your permission first. At the moment, I am staring down a materials engineering test. I would be happy to take a look at the possibility of setting up a gallery in the next few days. What do you think of the images and the gallery idea in general? Should fair use images be allowed to become portal featured pictures?— Scm83x hook 'em 05:25, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We should definitely try to organize a gallery/category or something. It's a lot easier way to manage it; I agree. I might be interested in your offer of running the Portal together. As you said, I'm a little involved in my RfA at the moment. I'm also a quite involved in studying this week IRL. We also have to remember that that there are plenty of people that you could notify on the Portal to identify pictures. What do you think of creating a little message to leave on the talk pages of all the involved parties to help identify possible pictures? — Scm83x hook 'em 08:09, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You speedy deleted this article as recreation of a previously deleted article. Alphax wanted it considered for a brief mention on Internet slang or a similar page. Would you have any problems with such a solution?

Hey. I was wondering why you deleted the Customer Service music group page. I would like some sort of an explanation- if you are'nt busy.

john law[edit]

Hey, Are you the person who keeps deleting the john law page? Is it because you feel that it is nonsense? John law is actually a person that is famous among many artists, buring man attendees and various other people. The page on him is not vandalism or nonsense. Seeing as that there are many pages on people like footballers etc why would there not be a page on an influential artist who has been very important to Burning Man and its (very large) online community? If you are not the person who has deleted this page twice please let me know so i can contact the person who has. m chainey

Did you mean to delete this page and reference the AFD from November instead of the current one at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Eric_J._Lindblom_PhD_(2nd_nomination)? It probably did qualify as speedy recreation and the debate was not going in its favour, I just want to make sure it was not deleted from the wrong reason as the second AFD started on the first AFD's page and then moved to the second one. kotepho 02:04, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1[edit]

Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.

the trolls[edit]

Hello

I am just wondering why you deleted to article about "The Trolls?" They are a real band and all information is true and not fictional. Please contact me ASAP.

Thankyou Corey Graham

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:JamesMorrison6.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 17:46, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Considering your action regarding the Unix successors category, I think the people who voted for you were a poor judge of character. 65.94.60.61 20:25, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Finally, Plano SHS at WP:PR[edit]

I have finally put Plano Senior High School up for peer review here. I hope that you will be willing to help put this article on the right path for featured article status. — Scm83x hook 'em 21:19, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harro, thanks for straightening out the thing with AdamCarr, but I'm pretty sure that 220.240.226.206 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) still needs to be blocked. I believe that it was the other one that was related to Australia (based on the contributions and the message at the top of User talk:165.228.129.11) and that this one was entirely different. If you wouldn't mind restoring the block, I'd appreciate it. (See [11], [12], [13], etc.) Thanks! —Spangineer[es] (háblame) 05:16, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Parliamentary staffers[edit]

Of course we will see a rerun of that here. As more politicians become aware of Wikipedia, they will assign staff members to make their articles as favourable as possible. Sooner or later Wikipedia will have to tighten its policy on anonymous editing. Adam 06:45, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the memories, we'll always have Hopkins, etc[edit]

The Barnstar of Life
I, Staxringold, hereby award this rare Barnstar of Life to Harro5 for continued diligence to all things school-related on Wikipedia.

Thanks once again for all the help on Hopkins School. For your continued work on WP:Schools, the Schools portal, and school articles in general... Staxringold 14:14, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you deleting pages people are working on?[edit]

Why did you delete the stub on John Law (artistic pioneer)? It was a legitimate page with multiple people working on it. Did you even check the history for that page or do you even know who John Law is? User:KanoaWithington

I noticed that you had deleted the article Jan van der Lans, created by somebody else against my wishes. However, I bought a book last Saturday that contains his biography (in Dutch) and bibliography (mostly English and Dutch). Also I think that he is notable enough to have an article. See his obituray Should I place the article on wikipedia:deletion review? I can make a draft article at User:Andries/Jan van der Lans, but please advise me if my request for undeletion is chanceless. Andries 17:57, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have just written the draft User:Andries/Jan van der Lans. Please advise whether this is good enough. Andries 21:12, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #2[edit]

The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date:
"Here in Wikipedia, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Wikipedia has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Information
Welcome to the second issue of the new format Esperanza Newsletter - we hope you still like it! This week, it was delivered diligently by our new dogsbody. MiszaBot (run by Misza13): any execution complaints should go to him. Content comments should be directed at the Esperanza talkpage. Thanks!
  1. The next elections: Approval voting as before and, also as before, an previous leadership member can run. Please submit your name for voting in the relevant section of this page. Voting starts on 2006-04-23 and ends on 2006-04-30. There will be three places up for grabs as KnowledgeOfSelf is leaving Wikipedia. Please see the previously linked page for full details.
  2. The Code of Conduct is now ready for extensive discussion! Specific comments should go to the Code of Conduct talk page, discussion of having one at all should be directed to the main Esperanza talk page.
  3. The current process for accepting proposals for new programs has been deemed fine. All Advisory Council members and the Admin Gen are to endevour to be bold when viewing discussion. If they feel that consensus has been reached, they will act accordingly.
A plea from the editor...
The propsed programs page is terribly underused! Please leave any comments, good or bad, on the page, to help us determine the membership's thoughts on the ideas there.
Signed...

Jordan Calloway[edit]

You deleted the article on Jordan Calloway while I was writing the hangon notice on the article's talk page. FYI, he is an actor in the television show Unfabulous and is also mentioned at the IMDB[14]. So if I was you I would undelete him to preserve the edit history so I can add info to his article. (I wasn't the person who created the article, BTW). Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 00:29, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you beat me to it by a couple of minutes when you deleted the above article. I looked in the history. The article was vandalised after the very first edit, all the original text removed (which is about a proper subject) and replaced by the text which was speedy deleted. I can't get the original text back now, but you might like to take a look at it, and retrieve it.

Following text edited to remove profanities[edit]

I'm trying to edit a page about the Pinkerton Thugs and you keep deleting it.

The above is the amended version with profanities removed from the original text posted by Bryan BYFD. For one thing it looked as though it was part of my post.

references to deleted articles[edit]

Hi - I noticed you closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of movies, manga, anime, and television shows that take place in Tokyo and deleted the article. I know it's a pain, but admins are supposed to also check the whatlinkshere for the deleted article (see Wikipedia:Deletion process). In this case I presume the links should have been removed. I noticed this from someone fixing the link from the Tokyo article. I've fixed the other references, but thought I'd remind you about this. BTW - as an admin who doesn't generally spend any time closing AFDs, thanks very much for doing this. -- Rick Block (talk) 22:22, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of PIGUI[edit]

Please explain to me how PIGUI is a copyright infringement. I own the copyright of the information, am in the process of permanently moving it from a web page to Wikipedia, and want to asign copyright to Wikipedia. Please see Talk:PIGUI for more information (oh, except now that's been deleted too). --Webaware 23:07, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
