Disambiguation link notification for December 7[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Julie Newmar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page None (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 20:17, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

With this edit you added an empty section heading to Smithland, Kentucky. Generally, when adding a section to an article, it is good form to then add content beneath the section you just added. Empty section headings are not very helpful to readers. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:29, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The file File:New York City Police Battle With River Pirates Cropped.jpeg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Redundant to File:New York City Police Battle With River Pirates Cropped.jpg but both files are in different formats.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:15, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Oneida Nation Of Wisconsin Tribal Seal.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Oneida Nation Of Wisconsin Tribal Seal.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:24, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Massive upload of flags for unrecognized tribes on Lenape[edit]

There have been concerns raised at the Indigenous Wikiproject about the massive gallery of images you've uploaded and imported into this article. Please engage with others on the talk page and at the wikiproject concerning the legitimacy of these flags, images and the status of these groups. Thanks, - CorbieV 19:15, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@CorbieVreccan: Don't be surprised if this user does not "engage", or even reply. Since joining last November, they have made ≈5600 edits, but not a single one of them has been to any talk page, (user, WP or article). That is despite the numerous warnings they've received for disruptive editing. If this behavior combined with refusal to engage continues, it may need to be reported to ANI. Other users have been blocked for similar circumstances. FYI - theWOLFchild 20:36, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. I'd consider doing the deed myself, but it might be best to bring in uninvolved admins at this point because I've taken on some of the cleanup work. - CorbieV 20:42, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@CorbieVreccan: Reporting it to ANI is how you would bring this to the attention of uninvolved admins, and the community. There no reason you can't, and it probably won't happen otherwise. (jmho) Cheers - theWOLFchild 20:49, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know. :) I was just getting offline last night so I didn't have time to proceed with further investigation or sanctions right then. Feel free to go ahead with ANI or tendentious. The user seems to have stopped editing for the moment, but I take it that is their M.O.? To disrupt up through warnings, then back off till no one's looking, then come back and repeat the pattern? - CorbieV 17:32, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
P.S.@Thewolfchild: And look here, they edited after the warning, here, refusing to engage. You are correct. - CorbieV 17:36, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I just dropped into the Lenape entry and wow, they were making other communities into Lenape. Either this is intentional and politically driven or this person is not knowledgeable enough to be adding content to indigenous articles. Either way they need to stop and stop now. I can see there's a ton of clean up to address. It's simply not fair that an editor with a reckless history is allowed to run amok. Indigenous girl (talk) 20:03, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so I was going to say topic ban from Indigenous articles, but given that it looks like this is on ALL articles this user has edited, I'm say it's full on WP:NOTHERE. - CorbieV 20:09, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

July 2018[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm CorbieVreccan. Your recent edit to the page Montaukett appears to have added incorrect information, so it has been removed for now. If you believe the information was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Same issues here - the image is misleading when the group is not recognized as an existing tribe. - CorbieV 19:25, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did at Poospatuck Reservation. In every article I have checked now, you have changed the status of multiple unrecognized groups without providing a single source for these changes, and inserted images that are not the official seals or flags for those groups. You have been asked to discuss these changes and ignored all requests. Wikipedia is not your blog or personal website. You seem to be WP:NOTHERE to participate in the community in a collaborative manner. - CorbieV 17:43, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

They were adding other communities into the Lenape article. I'm attempting clean-up via their contribs. This is really bad. Indigenous girl (talk) 20:04, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Indigenous girl: Revert them. Don't bother being kind with their garbage. They have shown they are a disruptive user, adding tons of misinformation without a single source, and adding images for which they have zero permissions. To revert all their edits, go into the history and click on the version before their edits, then go in and work on that version. That will remove their disruption and you can start there. We need this cleaned up by people who know what they are doing.
This user has demonstrated that they are not here to work in collaboration with other, more experienced editors. Whether these changes are due to lack of knowledge on these topics, or they are pushing some kind of agenda - as they refuse to engage we have no way of knowing. At this point it does not matter as the damage has been done, and they have gone past the point of us giving them the benefit of the doubt. I'm putting on my admin hat here and saying feel free to revert it all. - CorbieV 20:26, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@CorbieVreccan:Tribal seals and flags are trademarked or copyrighted. They all need to be removed. The user made a huge mistake stealing all those images and uploading them. Is there a way to mass delete? Indigenous girl (talk) 20:45, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I honestly feel their presence here is way more of a hindrance than a help seeing that they have a history of not even engaging when their problematic editing is brought to their attention. Indigenous girl (talk) 20:48, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Nancy Hanks Lincoln Portrait By Lloyd Ostendorf.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay.
