Mumbai, again

[edit]

Hi, several things to point out: 1. No copyrighted images please. 2. Mumbai is a GA-class article, please DO NOT add too many images and clutter it, especially since you were the ones who uploaded all of them. It looks like you are trying to push your own images. 3. As far as possible, please avoid Substandard images. Your stmt these images was not used to advertise because here the name of particular place was not mentioned makes no sense. When I say advertise, I am referring to Point no. 2, about pushing your own images. As far as GA/FA lass articles are concerned, please discuss on the talk page first before changing/adding/removing images, especially multiple extra large ones. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 09:42, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Hiitssmarty, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Redtigerxyz Talk 15:18, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Wm 34

[edit]

Hello Hiitssmarty,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Wm 34 for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Jhona43 (talk) 16:14, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Mahabali Shera a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. -- Sam Sing! 16:54, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Tom Phillips (commentator), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://espanol.wwe.com/shows/wwenxt/tom-phillips-bio.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tom Phillips (wrestling), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Commentator, ECW and NXT. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Tom Phillips (wrestling), but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to contain material copied from http://6abc.com/sports/philly-native-tom-phillips-wwe-journey/486934/, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Tom Phillips (wrestling) saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.

Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:14, 8 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on List of countries by the number of Multimillionaire requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/India-ranked-No-8-on-global-list-of-multimillionaires/articleshow/39708900.cms or some similar source. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello.

I see that you attempted to address the copyright problems in Tom Phillips (wrestling), but I'm afraid that the changes you made were not substantial enough to fix the problem. This is why the directions on the template indicated that content must be rewritten from scratch.

While facts are not copyrightable, creative elements of presentation – including both structure and language – are. For some examples of issues see the table below.

Source text Original article text Current version
With a Broadcast Journalism degree from Penn State University, Phillips spent time calling basketball games for the Big Ten Network while in college. Drawn to WWE during The Attitude Era, Phillips grew up watching “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, in addition to his hometown-based ECW. As a Philadelphia native, sports has always been a passion for Tom Phillips. However, after playing some football in high school, breaking his hand, and realizing he perhaps wasn't Division I material, he decided a career as a professional athlete might not be his best route, so he found a different path - broadcasting. "I'm such a diehard sports fan, I was like I want to always stay close to sports in some capacity and this was the best way to do it," Phillips recalls. As the public address announcer for his high school's football games, Phillips fell in love with speaking into the microphone. His quest to perfect his craft took him to Penn State Altoona and then Penn State main campus, majoring in Broadcast Journalism with an emphasis on Sports Broadcasting.[2]] sports has always been a passion for Phillips. However, after playing some football in high school, breaking his hand, and realizing he perhaps wasn't Division I material, he decided a career as a professional athlete might not be his best route, so he found a different path Broadcasting. I have added bolding to the content you placed on Wikipedia to help make the problem more obvious. In the third column, which represented the final state of the article before content was removed, we can see that you have altered some words and added some words, but your proposed rewrite retained both structure and language from the originals.

As a website that is widely read and reused, Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously to protect the interests of the holders of copyright as well as those of the Wikimedia Foundation and our reusers. Wikipedia's copyright policies require that the content we take from non-free sources, aside from brief and clearly marked quotations, be rewritten from scratch.

The essay Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing contains some suggestions for writing content that may help avoid these issues. The article Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2009-04-13/Dispatches, while about plagiarism rather than copyright concerns, also contains some suggestions for reusing material from sources that may be helpful, beginning under "Avoiding plagiarism".

Please let me know at my talk page if you have questions about this. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:28, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, re: this the Indian cinema task force at Wikipedia decided quite a while ago not to use INRConvert in the infobox anymore.
